I received a tattoo from Ruben hear a few months ago, and it was probably the best tattoo experience I've ever had. I walked in on a random night just looking for ideas, spoke with him about a very vague idea (I want a rose on my foot.) and left with an appointment for two days later. When I got overly excited and wanted to come in a day early, I called and asked and he said sure no sweat. This time I went in with pictures of what I was looking for, and although he had already drawn something up, he went back and adjusted 3 times until I was satisfied. Then, after telling him a very specific, difficult color scheme I had in mind, he worked with me to figure out how this would best accomplish the look I wanted and still be a good tattoo. And 3 and a half hours later, after staying 2 hours after the shop closed, Ruben gave me the best tattoo of the 6 I have. I get complimented on it by literally everyone who sees it, and it's more beautiful than I even imagined. So happy I stopped in this little hole in the wall, especially considering I got all this at a very reasonable price.

I went to Ruben for rosary tattoo and it came out great. I went back to him a few months later for a tree and it too was just right. I went back once more and asked him to add a background and he gave me clouds, sun, birds and the words this too shall pass and it brought everything together perfectly. I will be back.

After seeing their work online, I decided to stop by, as I was interested in getting a cover up done.
When we walked in, we weren't acknowledged, even though there was someone at the desk. Having a conversation with the apprentice was challenging and awkward. He was completely out of it, and responded in one word answers.

Since I have sensitive skin, and I'm allergic to nickel, I facebooked  Poison Apple to ask about the ink they use. Initially, I was told I'd have to come in and ask, but after explaining what happened when I had stopped in, I received a nice message from Mike, apologizing for the situation and telling me he had emailed the company that makes his ink about my questions.

Unfortunately, that was in July, and I never heard anything more from them.

I still haven't gotten my cover up, so if anyone out in yelp world can recommend an artist....

Ruben is the best tattoo artist. Period. He does amazing work for fair prices and he makes you feel comfortable around him when other places I have been it felt awkward. Never going anywhere else.

I got my first tattoo a week ago. I love it and can't wait to get another.

While I was pleased with their work from what I've seen and their piercing prices seemed fair when I was looking around while waiting, I felt kind of let down during my consultation. The apprentice me and my boyfriend were talking to seemed unusually inexperienced just for his position. He gave us a price range which varied by $150 and didn't seem that skilled nor attentive/specific when we were talking to him. We wound up venturing to a shop up the street which were way more helpful.  I might come back to get anti-eyebrows done, though. We'll see.

I just got a tattoo here the other day. I had been going to a lady out in Pittsburgh for a while when I went to visit friends, but I desperately needed to find an artists a bit closer than 5 hours away. I started working next door to Poison Apple and after getting to know the employees there from having smoke breaks outside with them, I decided to go ahead and get the tattoo I had been thinking of getting next, a full color portrait of my cat on my right calf.

The artists who tattooed me was named Pete. After two hours of a pretty painful process, it turned out pretty damn sick! It looked so good and though it didn't turn out the way i thought it would...it turned out better! He's insanely talented. I haven't gotten to see the work of the other artists here, yet. But I'm sure they are of a high caliber as well.

The prices are pretty cheap, as well. I was surprised to hear how much they charged other friends who have come here before and then the price they gave me was pretty darn reasonable as well.

Only thing that sorta annoyed me was the artist who was originally supposed to do my tattoo was hours late. So late that Pete ended up taking over, he wasn't even originally supposed to do it.  I guess he forget about our appointment? But maybe it was a blessing in disguise because the tattoo I ended up with is definitely the one I wanted!

    They also do piercings here!

And tip them, man. I hear that people are always skimping them on the hard work they do. Not cool.
