My tragus studs that I purchased online, were getting in the way of my ear buds, and ear plugs. I went in to see Danny today to change them back to the kind I was originally pierced with. Walked right in, and he took care of me. I will go back to have my nose pierced by him, since  getting it done in 2008 in Venice, I somehow  woke up and it was gone. LOL. I have one last tattoo to get, and will get it here, since they are always very clean, friendly and professional. Danny even gave me a couple bars for my daughter who has her web pierced, and kept losing her jewelry.  Thanks again Danny!

Came here back in January to get my septum re-pierced (after some other tattoo shop did it crooked). Nick did a great job. Quick and painless. They even went to buy me a coke cause I got a little pail (happens to me all the time I get pierced. I think I'm anemic, has nothing to do with nick).

Came back today for my girlfriend to get hers redone as well. Found out nick doesn't work there anymore. Ashley took care of us. She was so nice, kind and awesome. She even remembered me from the night I got my septum done. She pierced my girls septum right away and did a great job. My girlfriend didn't even flinch and it was a 14 gauge horse shoe.

Overall the place is really clean and the people are very friendly. I have referred friends and family there. My brother and his girl both got tattooed there too.

I highly recommend Rich Ink. The experience that Ashley provided was great. I'm planing on going back for more tattoos and piercings.

A couple of weeks ago, I got my helix and tragus pierced by Danny at Rich Ink. I chose Rich Ink because I had gotten my navel pierced there about a year prior, and Danny had been so wonderful the first time that I knew I wanted him to pierce my other holes as well. Of course, it also helped that he offered me a great price--two holes for the price of $30.

I went in, very nervous, and Danny was again, as great as I remembered him to be. He pierced my tragus first--no problem--and then my helix. He pulled out an earring with a butterfly backing, the exact kind I had gotten from Claire's a couple of years ago when I got my lobes pierced. I had read online that butterfly backing earrings were awful for piercings, because they harbored bacteria... but I trusted Danny to use his best judgment.

The tragus piercing was fine after three days. The helix piercing, however, was struggling. It was red and inflamed some days, pinkish on other days. I didn't think twice and just left it alone.

Last night, my ear swelled up about twice its size. I figured I had hit it the wrong way, and left it alone. When I awoke this morning, my ear was swollen about four times its size. I went online onto some piercing forums and posted pictures of my ear.

Everyone immediately told me I had to get the earring refitted with a new one, or at the very least, loosen the backing to give my healing piercing room. They also chastised me--"did you get that pierced with a gun? what kind of piercer would put such inferior quality of jewelry into a helix piercing like that?"

I immediately went to try and loosen the backing, since Rich Ink wasn't open yet. To my horror, when I pulled the backing slightly, the entire earring PULLED BACK INTO MY EAR as if it were a soft cheese. Half of the earring was embedded into my ear cartilage, while the backing was still visible. It began bleeding profusely, and oozing white/clear liquid both in the front and back. I immediately started panicking and crying. It was still really early in the morning, and there were no piercing shops open.

Finally, I ended up calling up a different piercer who told me to come in ASAP. He took a look at my piercing (I was again asked if I had been pierced with a gun) and told me that the quality of the jewelry in my helix piercing was of an inferior quality, causing my ear to have a major allergic reaction. He cleaned it up, pushed the embedded earring out, and switched in more appropriate jewelry. I was again (and very understandably) chastised for my choice of piercer.

I know this is long, but I want to be absolutely accurate when it comes to potential risk of the health of myself and others. I do not advise anybody to get pierced at Rich Ink until they replace their jewelry with higher quality materials. NO reputable piercer should use butterfly backings or metals that contain nickel.

As for myself, I'm very sorry to have to be updating a previously glowing review to a negative one. I hope my words are taken seriously and that Danny and the other piercers at Rich Ink will be conscious enough of their customers' health to replace their cheap metals with better quality stuff.

----edit Aug. 26: Tiffanie contacted me & responded to my review: "I am extremely sorry you went through that. I just want to thank you for the kind words about Danny and the shop. I do however want to assure you and everyone one else reading this that our jewelry is up to health department standards. We order from a reputable company. As you have had other piercings that have healed just fine an allergic reaction would not be likely. I would also like to clarify that we DO NOT pierce with a gun ever."

She offered to give me a free bottle of H2Ocean aftercare spray, and said that she would double check with her supplier to make sure the quality was up to par. While I think it's great that she is so passionate about the shop and her artists, I have a bone to pick with her response to my review.

Tiffanie, I'm sure your jewelry is up to health department standards, but so what? So is the jewelry at Claire's, as well as their horrible piercing guns. Does that mean it's good for any of the people who get it or use it? Absolutely not. No matter what you say to defend your methods, the jewelry used was NOT appropriate for the piercing. In my case, the type of metal played a factor. Maybe it wont matter for somebody else who is not as sensitive. Regardless, whether it is made out of white gold or silver, it SHOULD STILL NOT HAVE BEEN A BUTTERFLY BACKING EARRING. The length of the earring was not appropriate for a fresh piercing. Everything about it was WRONG.

I don't know if I made it clear in my previous edit, but my ear WILL scar from the trauma it suffered from the low quality earring. I WILL have a PERMANENT, red, unsightly scar on my ear. This may not matter to anybody else, but it matters to me. And this is DEFINITELY not something a free bottle is going to solve. Not in a MILLION years.

Just called and spoke to George about tattooing over a large scar, I told him it was perfectly flat, and completely healed.  He said that tattooing over scars was too much work, took too much ink and too much time, and he didn't want to do it.   He said that he had done such things before, so I asked him if there was any other reason, perhaps the people weren't happy with the results, but he said no, that the result was beautiful but that it was just too hard for him.  Wow, who would want to go to a tattoo artist with that kind of work ethic?  And it made me feel bad about even approaching a tattoo artist about covering mine.

Then I watched this video by the talented Billy Hill on youtube, where he dispels the myths around tattooing over scars, and saying, "The best thing to do is to find a capable tattoo artist.  It sounds like you're talking to a bunch of chumps...who just don't want to do the tattoo because it's going to be difficult and require a little more skill than they have...I tattoo scars whenever possible".

Jeez, I guess I'll go to a more skilled and less lazy artist.

P.S., Tiffani from the shop responded below with some strange and completely incorrect personal medical information that she made up about me, on 8/20/13, and then suddenly changed it on 8/21/13 when I told her that making up false defamatory information about someone is libel.

WTF?  Why would she make something up out of thin air? The things she said were completely false, but if they were true, it's extremely tacky and unprofessional of her to post such personal information.

But since it's not even correct,  I don't care.  I do wonder, however, why anyone would make up false medical information about anyone, what would be the reason?

Anyway, her response further didn't make any sense, because George said that he was VERY good at tattooing scars, but that he didn't like doing something that took a lot of effort.  He did NOT say, as claimed that it was fresh, because it was not, and in NO WAY did he give the "freshness" of the scar as any reason for not wanting to do it.  He didn't mention the scar's age or freshness AT ALL.  Not even ONCE.  So Tiffanie is clearly lying.

It's not that he was uncomfortable, he clearly explained that he gave great results, he described one of his tattoos over a large scar as "beautiful", and that the customer was very happy, but that it was hard work and he didn't want to do it simply for that reason.

What kind of company first of all says they are good at something but doesn't want to do it, and then their representative makes up completely false information and posts it on the internet, and then lies about a conversation she didn't even hear?

Wow.  Just WOW.  This goes beyond unprofessionalism, it's almost psychotic.

I went in, they asked me what I needed help with and I described the tattoo I wanted. The artist (George) knew what I wanted which was the infinity symbol on my middle finger. RIght away he got the stuff ready and finished the tattoo within 5-10 minutes. He was super chill and funny and I must say he did a great job!
I love it, very small and cute :)
Everyone there is really cool and help you pick whatever it is that you want and the prices are VERY reasonable!
I'll definitely go back if I want another tattoo!

Yea I got a small tattoo on my left wrist like 2 weeks ago and I have to admit... It kinda sucks. The guy left it all blotchy and what not. Not with the business. I don't really recommend this place.

Just got a triple forward helix piercing! I suddenly felt the need to get something pierced so I Yelped a spot, and 20 minutes later I was getting pierced by Nick. He did a great job and made me feel really comfortable. I also loved the shops atmosphere. It was very welcoming, friendly, and laid back. I was also very happy with the pricing! Definitely coming back for more.

Lets see, I set an appointment for when they opened and then no one showed up until 11:30. I had a tattoo done on my foot. I will deffinately have to get it fixed. It ia not all the way filled in and the lines are not complete. By far the worst tattoo shop I have ever been to. I would not recommend this shop to anyone.

i got my lip pierced out in encino back in july of 2010. i had a hard time healing..i don't know if it was the stress i was going through, or being diabetic...but the healing process was painful unlike the process itself. i had to take out my stud one day for a job interview before it was really healed and then the next day because i didn't fasten it right, the ball fell off and went down the drain :( so i was in a panic to find a place to buy jewelery before the piercing started swelling and closing already within an hr...i found rich ink through yelp...when i got there, at the opening time, no one was there so i had to wait for a couple minutes...then a really young guy came in to open shop...he told me rich wasn't in yet (owner, tattoo and piercer)...he was there in about 30 minutes or so..i told him my situation and told him i needed an internally threaded lip stud (which he said he had, but sold me an externally threaded one :)...he sold me one for $3...i mean, i wasn't lookin for diamonds...so that's super cheap. he asked if i wanted him to put it in for me and for him to take a look...i was developing a kelloid and he said he can't put the jewelery in for me because he doesn't wanna take responsibility for anything worse happening and that i shud go to get it checked out. i respected that...he wasn't being an ass about it, just giving me advice...so i said it was cool and left...i placed it myself and luckily it healed and i'm good now. now..the gem part in teh ball came off so i went back and bought another stud...he gave me 2 for $5 when he said the ones he sold me he usually sells for $5 each..whether true or not, it was cheap so that's cool...definately my go to guy if i need jewelery

Well, where do i start?  I came in as a walk in.  Apparently the piercer was out and was about five minutes away.  In the mean time i picked out the earrings and told the person what i wanted done.

He came in and within in ten minutes i was on the chair waiting to get poked five times. =)

I got three piercings on my left ear lobe, one on my right ear and a rook piercing.

I have no place to compare this place to.   That's the only reason I'm only giving it a four star.  I must admit my visit was very pleasant.

Daniel was nice and made sure i was okay after each piercing, and made sure i had no additional questions before we got started.  He told me how to take care of it, etc.  Since i got four piercings done that day i got one for free and it came out to $65 +/- (give or take).    And if you're a student you get a 10% off. =)

I want a daith piercing now on my left ear so I will definitely be coming back to him.

Got tragus and helix piercings done by Doug E. Bear here. The whole experience was quick and enjoyable. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by Doug and took a seat on their red lips shaped loveseat, which was pretty rad. The place was pretty busy but I didn't mind  the short wait, the staff were joking and getting along with each other which was fun to watch. The place is clean and the environment is friendly enough.

Doug was pretty cool funny chill dude. Very thorough in explaining the procedure and after care.

They've got a decent selection of jewelry and prices were extremely reasonable.

I'll definitely be going back for more.

I'm incredibly pleased with my experience at Rich Ink.  I got my tragus pierced by Daniel and he was incredibly informative, took his time to explain what he was doing, why he was doing it, and very calming.  I was in and out in about twenty minutes.  It only cost $15, I bought the $15 H2O cleaning stuff he suggested [I had my nose piercing get infected and I did NOT want to deal with another infection again!]

I want to go back soon to get my other side done.  And hopefully get a micro dermal done in the future.

    Where do I begin??

    Ah.. I know!!

    1. How about.. the owner of the shop hitting me up on some website, referring to a picture I have up of me getting tattooed by an artist named Alex Garcia, who I think is amazingly talented. Well he told me that I should go to his shop, and that Alex's work is only so-so... Excuse me? Well not only do I have ink work done from him that your implying is so-so, I find it completely tacky to be trash talking another artists. Which I did tell him. Needless to say, that conversation didn't go any further.

    2. The only way you can find a valid phone number for this place, is if you google it. I should have taken that as a sign.

    3. They have a sign hanging in the front that says "$10 Piercings". What they mean is.. it depends who the piercer is. I'm guessing for this Danny guy people say to go to, its a special hes offering, and its only on Monday's. For the guy I had, it was $10 for the jewelry and $10 for the piercing. (By the way, I got the Monroe piercing.) I think the piercers name was Ramone.

    3. When I called to see what time the piercer would be in till, I was told 11. I went in around 9:45 or 10:00, and was told the piercer just left. I was told to come back tomorrow, and if I missed him again, then he would pay for it himself. (owner of the shops' brother)

    5. I went the next day around 8. I saw the same guy from the day before and another guy who was standing at the counter and looked high as a kite. I thought he was a customer. Nope. He was the piercer. (Oh great!) I figured, I've had a few piercings, even if this guy sucks, I know how to take care of it. I only went here because its really close by, and I thought it would only be $10.

    6. After filling out a long waiver, I had a seat while the piercer prepped his area. The owners brother looked at my name on the waiver, asked my last name, and then asked/accused me of "always calling the shop". Wtf?? I told him I called 2x the day before, because when I first called they weren't open yet. I even told him that I had a hard time getting a valid number for the shop. But he just gave me a weird look that said "yeah, sure." Not to mention, when I was filling out the waiver, he saw the ink (writing) on my forearm (another piece Alex did), and said "you like that writing??" And suggested I looked at their books. But I told him I did like the writing and that I have my artist already, and said thanks.

    7. On to the piercing stage.. well I asked for a gem type stud, not the ball type stud. I have my labret pierced with a pushpin style gem, and even pointed to it when I said what I wanted. He said okay. Well after he marks my lip with a black sharpie (really, a sharpie. Don't they have special marking pens??), I agree to the area (after a few corrections of course). Needle goes through and he reaches for the stud, then... the ball!! He used a ball type stud with a gem in it. Ugh! Oh well. I'll just change it in a month. Paid him my $20 and said thanks.

We'll, my friend decided to get her nose pierced, so here we are. On to piercing number 2! After a few corrections again (his sense of where it should go was clearly off); he pierces her. We both hardly felt anything, which was good. He did everything pretty fast. She paid her $20, he went through a few care instructions, and on our merry little way we went.

Overall it went okay, but I don't think I would ever go back. Unless I was sure to get whoever this mysterious Danny guy is. Otherwise, I think I'll stick to Needle Pushers for any piercings and Dolorosa Art (Tattoo) Company [Alex Garcia] for my ink.

I had an amazing experience here! I got
my belly pierced just last night and the guy who did it (I think his name was Danny) was very chill and made me
feel comfortable and relaxed (I was freaking out about the whole piercing thing). he did a very nice job and it was
    quick!

the whole atmosphere of the parlor is nice and professional and family run, which I like. everyone in there was supportive of my friend and i who were getting it done (there was some laughter here and there because my friend was really terrified, but it just added more to the experience)

the base cost of a belly piercing is 25 but because I chose a bananabel with a gem in it, it cost me 30 BUT! I just flashed them my student ID and paid only 27. I used the rest of the 3 dollars to tip Danny :)

    i highly recommend!
