I had a wonderful experience at Spa Violet. It is a quaint little place, quiet, simply decorated and plays very restful music in the background. I was treated with great care from the moment I called in for my appointment, being called to confirm the appointment and then being greeted when I arrived. I was ushered into Gina's treatment room where I was shown where to put my purse, hang my clothes and given a dish for my jewelry. Gina explained what my treatment entailed which made me feel very informed and confident in what she was going to do. She gave me one of the best facials I have ever had. And I got a neck and shoulder massage in the process. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this wonderful place to anyone and in particular Gina.
Review Source:Was so disappointed in this spa. Â Bought a Groupon for 3 facials and was refused service because the woman who offered the Groupon was fired. Â NO WHERE on the Groupon did it say that a specific person would do the facials! Â They spoke very poorly of the person they fired on the phone with me and told me why she was fired...none of my business and not my concern. Â They seem to have no worries about turning away clients or potential ones. Â Do not waste your money. Â Fortunately for me Groupon handled my refund with excellent customer service. Â Spa Violet could learn a lesson or 2 from them.
Review Source:I have gone to Spa Violet on some of their specials AND have used Groupon on the facials 3 times. Meaning I have purchased on Groupon 3 times. Each Groupon was for 3 facials.
They never skimped. They never asked for my ID#. Only when I checked in did I bring my Groupon certificate.
They treated me as if I paid $$$ for the services. They were great, and I apologize--the young lady that did my facial (can't recall her name as it's been 9 months since I went) She was GREAT!!! Â She gave me a fantastic facial. Did not try to up sell me in anyway. In fact, I asked if I could add a peel or mask and they did!!
I am planning on going back with my new Groupon and treating myself. I have never had anything less than great service, a very clean and inviting atmosphere and very professional.
If you have a "Group On" "Living Social" or any other kind of voucher for this place, good luck in using it!!!
I initially called this SpaViolet place and booked an appt. Â Firstly, the woman, Cindy, that answered the phone was quite unpleasant, and borderline, dare I say it, downright bitchy!
When I informed her that I was going to use a Group On, she said that she would need the 8 digit number under the bar code to set up the appt., so I then called back and gave her the number. Â
Then, SpaViolet redeemed the Voucher without my even having set foot in the place, or not taking into account that my appointment was way in the future (about three weeks into the future).
I took contact with Group On, and they "unredeemed" the voucher, since I told them that I had not used this voucher. Â Lastly, the last straw came when I called yesterday, 22 of March, to re-schedule my appointment (my daughter is having surgery on that day). Â The same Cindy woman answered the phone, and I asked her if I could reschedule, she said that was not possible until April 19th. Â I explained that the voucher expires the 8th of May and that I travel alot for my job and I could not make it on April 19th. Â Furthermore, I mentioned that I realized that they possibly had a lot of response with Group On or whatever other vouchers they had out there, but if she would be willing to accomodate me or honor the voucher after the expiration date, and she basically did not offer any suggestions/solutions in redeeming this voucher. Â In other words, she made it sound like that was my problem! Â
I then told her that I was going to take contact with Group On to get my money back and she did not say anything; she could care less was the impression I got.
In a way, I AM SO GLAD that I did not go to this place, because if this is any indication of what level of service they are offering--NO THANK YOU! Â I will take my business elsewhere with or without a Group on! Â A Group On offers one the opportunity to try a place out, but if they are going to make it so difficult, conduct their business in such a shoddy manner, adding to it "a side of bitchy.". Â It really was a blessing in disguise that this didn't happen.
Lastly, I would give this place 0 (Zero) stars, but that is not possible!!
Beautiful little place. Â Dale tattooed my eyebrows, did a wonderful job, love the way they look. Â Two ladies I work with have been to Dale for eyebrow tattoo and they both look great. Â I went on their recommendation and was not disappointed. Â Dale took here time and they came out perfect. Â I've seen some scary eyebrow "jobs" mine are fantastic, why did I wait so long........
Review Source:Horrible place! Old, dirty...
Do not waste your money!
I got mani and pedi.
Sooooo uncomfortable chair, no massage, nail technician (Spanish girl) couldn't speak English and has bad technique!!
And old receptionist (Cindy) is NOT professional and sooooo mean!!
Please do not waste your money!!
This place is all JOKE!!
STAY AWAY, ITS HORRIBLE!!!!
I NEVER COME BACK!!
I HATE THIS PLACE!!
I'll never come back here. I purchased the Groupon for a "spa" manicure and pedicure and used it back in June of 2012. I was going to Las Vegas for my birthday and wanted to pamper myself! It was the most pathetic excuse for a mani/pedi ever. The girl working on me was so sweet, but told me she was new there and inexperienced. I feel awful writing such a bad review but it was not a good experience. First off, it's not a salon, it's a house in a residential area. They make it sound like this charming little place on the phone when they're describing how to find them...no. It's just a random house on a street in Solana Beach. And you know what, fine, that would be okay if they didn't have chairs from the fifties. Meaning, she filled up a pot of hot water and balanced it on the bottom of the chair for me to soak my feet. I couldn't relax because I was so nervous it was going to spill everywhere! It was a cold day (June Gloom) and they had the windows open in the house, so the water got cold pretty quickly and soon my feet were just sitting in cold water in an uncomfortable position. She did my nails with regular polish and kept complaining that the polishes there had awkward handles and she wasn't used to them. Doesn't inspire much confidence. When it came to my manicure, she missed a lot of the sides of my nails. I ended up putting glitter on them the next day to make them look better. I was honestly glad to leave that place, their "waiting room" is super tiny and I'm surprised people feel comfortable relaxing there after a massage. I would feel very awkward!
Review Source:What is with these salons?? It's not too hard to get it right!
Really bad experience! For starters the old, dilapidated house they call a salon is about 36 degrees. The pedicure chair made me feel like I was in an electric chair- it was old and hard and extremely uncomfortable. I think they were going for some sort of industrial chic look but it was more Sweeny Todd than cool. Â The manicure and pedicure took her less than 40 minutes to complete (supposed to be a 90 minute service???) and the polish started to chip on both fingers and toes the same day! The same day!!! The owner Cindy is less than friendly and the manicurist doesn't even speak. Â They don't know anything about customer service!! Their calendar is a disaster and they don't care.
Don't bother with this shabby little shack and its rude owner and staff, they'll just rip you off!!!
Save your money... even on a groupon. Â Don't do it!
I bought the groupon because it sounded amazing... yeah, not so much.
Let's start with the pedicure chair... I'm used to my $17 for a pedicure, amazing massage chair. Â And this pedi is normally $55 so they should have an even better chair - right? Â Nope, it's an antique barbershop chair. Â So uncomfortable. Â No massage - no reclining, just plain weird. Â
Next - the massage, or serious lack there of... for $55 - you should get an amazing massage. Â And one of the main reasons for getting a pedi is the massage. Â Massage?? Rubbing my feet for 30 seconds does not count as a massage. Â My normal $17 pedi - at least 10 minutes of a good solid massage. Â And no hint of a massage on the manicure. Â So disappointing.
Lastly - my $17 pedi last for at least a month... this one is already chipping after a week!
The website plays up these amazing treatments... I did not receive any such treatment. Â And the groupon even said a $90 value - HA!
The one positive? Â The girl that did my nails was so nice and so sweet. Â I feel bad for her...
I recently got a facial here a couple of days ago from Kimberly that was a groupon I had purchased earlier in the year that was about to expire. Making the appt a couple of days in advance with the receptionist was easy and very accommodating to my schedule. The facial itself was awesome and my skin is still glowing. Any breakouts that I had from heinous pregnancy hormones are completely on the mend if not disappeared due to her gentle yet efficient cleansing and extraction know-how. I've left other facials before looking like a polka-dot-faced mess and even after a lot of extractions I looked great. It was also the perfect balance of quiet relaxation and enjoyable chatter with Kimberly. There's nothing worse than going for a spa treatment and the person not reading your cues on whether you want to just bliss out or chat it up, and although often times these days I tend to like the peace and time to be quiet (especially after dealing with toddler tantrums all day), near the end, I had so much fun conversing with her that it felt like a fun happy hour with a friend. And the owner Elizabeth could not have been nicer and more hospitable--especially since I accidentally locked my keys in my car and had to hang around for a couple of hours after my appt for my husband to be able to bail me out--while she closed up the place and still was so polite, asking me if I wanted water or snacks, etc. Â I'm not quite sure why there's so many negative reviews on this place. My guess is the nail person turned out to not have the experience and training she claimed and isn't there anymore. Â I hadn't checked yelp before buying the groupon and I'm glad I didn't because I usually live and die by yelp reviews and had I steered clear from spa Violet I would have definitely missed out on getting to know this great place and its people!! Very much worth it :)
Review Source:I bought one of those online coupons for a facial here. Â The esthetician was sweet and very friendly. Â I feel like their prices could be slightly lower since they're doing routine stuff and just slightly above average customer service. Â The place is tiny because it is a home-turned-business and there is only street parking. Â My facial was mostly relaxing. Â I felt kind of neglected during the steam part but I think that makes sense but keep reading. Â The first 20 minutes felt like a waste while she removed my makeup, prepped my skin and then gave me a steam. Â I don't really think she removed all my eye makeup like I asked her to do. Â She said she did but when I looked in the mirror there was still remnants of makeup on my eyes. Â Her naivete was charming but doesn't really work for the situation when I'm the one there paying for the comfort and tranquility of a facial. Â Another thing that irritated me was that I had some sort of bug bite on my right shoulder at the border of the body towel. Â Maybe this happened at the same time she let me chill under the steamer? Â IDK. Â Anyway, the experience was pleasant enough but I have definitely had better treatments. Â It feels like I should have shelled out more money at those other places to really get the facial experience I was hoping for. Â Thanks anyway!
Review Source:This review is for the mani/pedi Groupon service.
If you cannot accommodate the number of appointments, I suggest the following:
1. Offer only limited number of Groupons and/or
2. Extend the expiration date of the Groupons
I had the hardest time booking appointments both using the online booking thing and over the phone. Please do not complain to me how many people are trying to schedule appointment because you should have known this when you decided to offer deals on Groupon.
It's too much time and stress to try out a new place. I cancelled my Groupon and I certainly would not recommend this place to anyone.
Why didn't I read the reviews???!!! Â I, too, bought the mani/pedi Groupon. I had the appointment with the woman from Brazil. She was very sweet, but told me she did her training five years ago, but only just recently started doing nails. I used to be a hand model and know how a manicure should be done. This was not it! Â She left rough edges, missed spots on my nails and when I took the polish off, every nail was splitting! I didn't want her to re-do her work because not only did I think she didn't know what she was doing, but it took over two and a half hours for this horrible service! Â The kicker is, when I called back to let them know how bad it was, the woman I spoke to was so rude! Â She said she didn't know how that could happen because the woman had been doing nails for over 20 years. I told her that was funny, since she told me herself that she just started. STAY AWAY!
Review Source:Bought a Groupon for mani/pedi with promise of 90 mi ute treatment with massage, but oh my what a disappointment! Â Massage was very brief. Nail technician was was nice, but I don't think she has polished many nails. Had to ask her to redo a couple of them and the rest look bad. Â The entire nail is not covered in polish and edges are not filed smooth so they will catch on things and chip quickly. Â I get my nails done nearly every week and this is the worst manicure I have ever had.
Review Source:I bought a Groupon now for a facial this morning from Spa Violet before they were even open for the day and called to book an appointment assuming there would be availibility being that the Groupon was only good for today. Well I was wrong, I called twice, left a message and then finally recieved a call back asking why I called, I told the woman on the phone I bought a Groupon now she says for what? I said a facial and the quick response was we have no openings. I ask why did you run a Groupon good only for today if you had no openings and all she says is we are booked, no sorry no explanation. So moral of the story is don't by a Groupon for this business.
Review Source:I guess the adage is true, you get what you pay for. I decided to try Spa Violet out with a GroupOn for a manicure / pedicure. I don't know if this regulated me to a second class citizen, but I will never return after my experience there.
1). Manicure - Â you are seated at a cramped little table, with absolutely no leg room. Not very relaxing.
2). Pedicure - no massage chair, no spa bath for your feet. You are seated in an old Barber's chair and your feet are put into a metal basin! I didn't realize I was going back to the Middle Ages for my pedicure! Again, not very comfortable, and the basin was kinda gross.
3). The esthetician working on my hands and feet was lovely, and a pleasure to converse with. Â The rest of the staff didn't say hello or acknowledge me at all, and 2 of the women chatted away in loud voices less than 2 ft from where I was getting my nails done. Â Again, not conducive to a relaxing atmosphere, and quite annoying. Â Their attitude was as though I was inconveniencing them for being there.
The following day, my fingernails were already chipping. Again, if you are going to charge spa prices, you should provide a spa experience, not some weird DIY home / shop. Â I could have gone to a friend's house and gotten a better job. At the very least, let people know you don't have professional chairs / equipment for the services you're providing!
I also bought a Groupon for this place. Â I was looking for a new pedicurist since my regular lady retired.
"Spa Voilet" is in a tiny house without a sign on the door. Â
It was the first day for the lady who did my nails. Â She did okay, but she was struggling to find out where everything was in the place, and apologized that it was her first day on the job.
The kicker was after the manicust finished the manicure & pedicure, the manager came over and said, "We're going to charge you a lot more for a French." Â I asked the manicurist how much if was and she said she didn't know. Â When I got to the counter, then manager wanted another $17.00 in addition to the Groupon money I had already paid. Â Buyer BEWARE! Â Don't go here.
Bought a Groupon for a facial and made an appointment a couple weeks out. On day of, I called to reschedule due to unpredictable events. Let me just say that the phone calls could be handled better. Called multiple times with an answering machine picking up when I know for a fact there is a receptionist there. If you force clients to leave messages, it is good business to return their calls within 20-30 minutes. Anyway, after not hearing back for hours, I called again and finally got a real person on the phone who told me they have a 24hr cancellation policy, understandable, my mistake I should have noticed on the fine print, however I was looking to reschedule ASAP, not totally cancel. I still intended to go, so the receptionist said she would have the aesthetician call me back that day and discuss a rescheduling....two weeks later and I haven't heard a peep. Where is the courtesy? Good-bye, $35.00.
Review Source:I had called two weeks prior to today booking an appointment for a body wrap for today at 3pm. I even called a second time asking if I could move it to another time which I was denied because she was booked. I said okay thats fine I will move around my other obligations and make the appointment. I live in Mission Beach so Del Mar is definitely a trek. I showed up about five minutes prior to three and was told that my name wasn't coming up in the schedule and that she was all booked, sorry. I was turned away without them even thinking twice about it. SO RUDE. I was absolutely appalled! I will NEVER go back to this salon.
Review Source:Review for: facials, permanent make up, and waxing.
I met Dale back in 2003 when I was so impatient that I got my eyeliner done by someone else since Dale was unavailable for the time that was most convenient for me. HUGE. HUGE! HUGE!!!! I repeat: HUGE mistake! The other woman who ruined my eyeliner (yes, permanently on my FACE!) was in a prominent salon in Carlsbad so I thought it would be okay. Nooooo way, I couldn't have been more wrong! I ended up going to Dale, who I first wanted to go to, so she could fix my eyes. She did a bang-up job! She made me feel comfortable and secure...so because of my eyeliner experience I started going for regular facials. Usually No Foolin' Arounds with a peel/microderm added in. Those are amazing and my face was so clear! Although, it's common to peel after them, FYI...part of the process. I've also had my underarms waxed and a Brazilian done here...very professional and friendly staff all around! I continually highly recommend this place. I'd still be a regular (and used to make the drive from Vista, cuz yes, it's that great!) but now I live in Colorado. BUT, I've even had my eyebrows tattooed and drove all the way from Laguna Hills (my parent's house) to do it. YES, I know how amazing Dale is that I wouldnt trust anyone else and will only go to her for permanent make-up. Hell-ooo! She's gotten AWARDS for her precision. I was tired of drawing on my own crooked eyebrows since I'm so lightly-complected. Dale gave my eyes what I feel I should have been born having. They look perfect and natural. I can't say enough good things about Dale and her salon's services and the professional staff! I saw the other reviews...but I know those must have been fluke experiences because I'm so cautious after my bad experience with the other lady that once I went to Dale, I have never gone to another salon for any service...8 years now. I don't trust anyone else, and I'm a bad luck charm. You can definitely trust Dale! :)
Wowie! I went in for a "Shrinking Violet," Spa Violet's infrared body wrap treatment, and I walked out floating on a cloud. Â Poor circulation runs in the family and a friend of mine recommended I try an infrared wrap to help improve my little problem. She's been going to Spa Violet for a while now and absolutely LOVES the treatments here! Â She recommended I see Gina for the infrared and boy was I happy I did! She gave me a neck massage while in the wrap which was wonderful! Her background is in massage therapy so this wasn't some little fluffy I-could-give-a-sh*t massage like you sometimes get at spas. This woman has magic hands and she was so nice! Â Most people use the treatment for weight loss or cellulite. Â (My friend says it has worked wonders at decreasing her cellulite), but it is also really good for improving circulation. I can't wait to come back for a full body massage! I'll probably make an appointment for a facial next time in addition to the body wrap as I've heard the facials are divine as well. Â I thought the prices were reasonable. I will definitely be coming back whenever I'm back in town! I wish they had a 2nd location in San Francisco! (hint hint Spa Violet)
Review Source:I had been there a few times at the old location in Cardiff and now at a residential home turned spa in Solana. I must admit I was a little turned off by the mere fact I was walking into a residential home with no commercial  parking. You have to park on the side of the street with cars wising past you, it doesn't really set the mood. Then I walk in and no one greeted me for at least 8 mins after my appt. When I was greeted, the receptionist I assume, was eating and chewing food in her mouth. I understand we all need to eat/have a break so I brushed it off. I was getting ready to have a facial when all I could hear was this loud, obnoxious voice and laugh not to mention, it felt as though the walls were paper thin! It was extremely hard to get comfortable, relaxed and in the "zone." Turns out it was the owner of the shop named Dale. When I finally finished my facial, she was in the waiting area as well and did not acknowledge me or care to ask how my services were. She was unprofessional, passive-agressive and above all RUDE. It was really awkward and strange...Dale, single-handedly made me run in the opposite direction for good!!! I do not recommend this spa or any services to do with Dale to anyone because of my last experience and many from the past!! Don't waste your time or money on Dale's house-salon-shop...or whatever its trying to be!
Review Source:After all the positive reviews on Dale and her exceptional quality of work, I decided to pay a visit to spa violet to get my lips tattooed. I initially had two phone consultations to determine of Dale could get me the results i wanted safely and hygienically. After a long hard decision, I decided to go in and get my lips tattooed to a light pink since I have brown lips. I was told what colors would make them that shade and went in for that procedure. The procedure was done and all I was concerned about was how blue my lips looked. Dale reassured me that it was only cause they were sore and that they would have their color in 3 weeks. Every week they got darker and darker and i sent her picture after picture via email till finally I told her she needed to see them. When I went to her home (cause the salon shut down) she admitted that she had colored them darker despite my constant reminder that they should be light and pink. She says she will contact her mentor to find out how to correct them. A month later after many calls and emails she sends me an email saying brown lips cannot be lightened!!! No offer of compensation for the money I spent with her, no offer of how i should take my lips back to their original color, and no apology. If I had the time and energy, I would address this inaction with more calls and emails but what more can I expect from such a bad experience and awful after service follow up. Never again at that place or with Dale.
Review Source:I have always left Spa Violet feeling great! Â My first visit to Spa Violet was for a "No Foolin' Around" Facial with Elizabeth. Â I left there feeling amazing! Â Elizabeth is definitely quite talented at what she does and pampers your face like no other! Â I have also been in to see Dale and get my eyebrow/lip waxing done. Â My eyebrows looked absolutely amazing when I left. Â I have been waxing/threading my eyebrows for a long time, but Dale really impressed me with her attention to detail and perfectly shaped brows. Â My lip wax was also something to gush about. Â She used the hard wax, which made it less painful and was very detail-oriented as well. Â I have never seen my lip look so soft and hair-free. Â They offer Happy Hour Waxing which is a big $$$ saver. Â If you can, book during happy hour and save a few bucks. Â The only downside right now is that they are working out of a temporary location (home) and while they have their equipment set-up, it's not your usual brow bar/mini spa. Â I am really looking forward to when they open up their new location to just further enhance the experience.
Review Source:This USED to be my favorite place to get my brows done. I initially started going here because it was right across the street from my job at the time and despite one awkward situation where the woman waxing me had just consumed some stinky cheese and then proceeded to breath in my face for the half hr it took to get my brows done I continued to go and love the great work they did. I hadn't been in awhile because I wasn't working in Cardiff anymore and I live in San Diego, so it isn't the most convenient to go to, but after several meh jobs at other places I finally broke down and decided it was worth the drive to have great work done. Well apparently they have moved and while I was apprehensive about going to their new "undisclosed" location (someone's house), I gave them the benefit of the doubt that all would be fine and I would walk away loving my brows again! I should have listened to my gut instinct. My appt was for 6, but I got there at 5:45. I heard voices when I entered, but didn't see anyone so I called out Hello? A very very uncomfortable  half hour later, and after calling out Hello?! many times I finally left. I felt like such a creeper just hanging out in someones house without anyone knowing about it! I would have tried calling the number on the website again except it's just a voicemail.  I did end up leaving a disappointed voicemail later on that evening, but never heard back. So sad. So now I'm on the hunt again for another wonderful place to get my brows done. :-(
Review Source:While the services at this spa are FANTASTIC, the amenities are limited due to the spa's size. Â Their Fly me to the Moon facial is one of the best I've ever had...despite the 20 minutes of extraction torture, the head, neck and shoulder massage that followed was absolutely blissful. Â The aesthetician was extremely knowledgeable and had great recommendations for me without trying to sell me overpriced products. Â I have also had wonderful massages here - they really have found some technically strong professionals that you can count on when making an appointment here. Â
My only gripe is with:
"MISS VIOLET"S UP-DO 20 min $45 - Scintillating scalp treatment: Imagine someone stroking your hair, then rubbing warm botanical oils into your scalp to deeply moisturize and nurture this oh so sensitive area. You'll feel so good, it won't matter that you look like Kramer as you stammer out the door. Better yet, bring a hat and have someone drive you home to nap." Â
I was really looking forward to this "icing on the cake" after my massage treatment...it ended up feeling like a hair-pulling torture treatment. Â I have always loved head massages, but this was really more of a torture session than anything else. Â Next time I go for any treatment, I will make sure they know ahead of time that I do not find hair-pulling relaxing in any way, shape or form.
Oh Spa Violet, I would give you 4.5 stars if I could. Â I love happy hours if that means a $10 discount. Â You are cute and cozy and I love a little tea and soothing spa music while I wait for my long overdue brazilian. Â Elizabeth is great. Â I'm not going to pretend it was painless but whether I'm just lazy or a glutton for punishment, I'm never waiting this long to get a bikini wax again. Â Ladies, even if you dump your boyfriend, don't get lazy like me when you're single only to pay for it later. Â The menfolk better appreciate the pain we go through. Â It's hard to beat a $50 brazilian.
Review Source:Spa Violet had a special for a $10 brow waxing, so I thought "why not?" It beats the $40 I pay at my favorite place down the street, especially around the holidays!
Spa Violet is a cute little place. I sat in a retro barber chair while while my brows were expertly and meticulously groomed. Totally painless and the waxing lasts WEEKS. I would go back again when they have a special, but the location is farther from where I usually go.
I have been going to Spa Violet for a few years now and I love it! The people there are friendly and very knowledgeable. I go to Janelle and she is awesome at doing a fast and painless brazilian. They also send you lots of deals when you sign up for their email list. Â LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!!!
Review Source:I had a great experience getting my eyebrows waxed here.  I had often walked by the spa, but had never been inside before.  It was a very relaxing place-candles were burning, soft music was playing, etc.  The woman who did my eyebrows  was very nice and gave me great advice on keeping them clean between waxings.  The brows came out great. I would definitely go back to spa violet.  Next time I'm going to try the steam shower and hopefully a massage!
Review Source:Update: When I visited, they were located in the Seaside market center in Cardiff.
I'm always skeptical when going to a new place for eyebrow waxing. Â I read the 6 five star reviews so I thought I should give this place a try. Â After all, 6 people can't be wrong.
They weren't wrong. Â I absolutely love Spa Violet. Â I asked for an appointment during happy hour to get the 5 dollars off waxing deal but was told that all 6-8 pm appointments were booked. Â Not a problem though because Dale, the owner, offered the same discount at whatever time I wanted. Â I booked a 4:30 time slot.
The experience was wonderful. Â The "brow bar" is a metaphor. Â To my dismay, there was no bar, it's more of a "brow chair." Â A very comfortable chair that I sat down in, leaned into, and found myself now laying down. Â The wax that they use is less painful than at my other spas I've tried. Â I was able to see the applied wax during my complimentary knuckle waxing and was surprised to see that it was (not purple, but) violet. Â Cute.
Elizabeth did my waxing and I would recommend her to anyone in need of a brow girl. Â She talked with me to make sure she knew exactly what I wanted and how I wanted it done. Â This made me feel more comfortable and relaxed since I knew she wouldn't butcher my face (like Nufaces in Encinitas did).
Everyone that I encountered at the spa was very friendly. Â From the receptionist to the owner, it was top notch all around.
Getting my eyes and eyebrows tattooed by Dale at Spa Violet was one of the best decisions I've ever made! I have alopecia areata, an autoimmune condition that causes my hair to fall out, eyebrows and eyelashes included. Being pale and almost hairless, I look like an albino without some paint on my face. But, thanks to Dale's amazing artistry, my face is always perfectly done-up (in a totally natural, non-skanky way).
Before coming to Dale, I visited a ton of other tattoo artists in San Diego and L.A., and a lot of the work in their portfolios was scary and fake-looking. One guy wanted to draw eyelashes on my eyelids ala Twiggy; another lady tattooed her clients' faces using a bamboo stick and a little hammer. I was terrified of ending up with clown-whore makeup and purple eyebrows drawn on my face for all time.
By luck, a friend referred me to Dale, and she turned out to be the tattoo lady of my dreams! In addition to being a talented, perfectionist artist, she is extremely charming and funny. All of the tattooing takes place in her beautiful spa, using the most advanced equipment and safety procedures. Her prices are beyond reasonable. And unlike many places, she applies a powerful topical numbing cream to your face before going to work.
Over the years, I've had about ten tattoo procedures from Dale (all cosmetic tattooing needs periodic touching-up), and have never had anything but positive experiences and results. Getting poked in the eyelids with a needle is kind of scary, but Dale somehow makes the procedure feel like a pampering spa treatment.
To sum it all up: Dale is brilliant, and my magnificently perfect eyebrows have helped me become a better, more kind, human being. The end.
Spa Violet is a premier, hip place to refresh and revitalize your face and body. Voted the best for 2006 among San Diegans for permanent make-up, Spa Violet  is truly in a class by itself. The decor for one is so groovy that you could spend the entire day there just chillin'. Owner and esthetician, Dale Hall has been doing this for 16 years and is just fab to say the least.
Check out their Brow Bar where you can clean up your hairy act in minutes. Walk-ins are welcome but it's best to make an appointment as they are always booked. You can even hire them to host your own Brow Bar Party for your special friends.
They have also come up with an unusual concept of hosting BINGO nights where girls and boys get  together and win prizes of some of their special treatments. They have even hosted a BINGO night solely for charity purposes allowing them to give back to the community.
