Really cool shop. Doesn't feel seedy or stuffy. Staff is awesome and super knowledgable.
Went in on a Saturday afternoon. I was greeted immediately. I have had an industrial for 10 years and the bottom never really healed. Staff helped troubleshoot and we came to the conclusion that the angles were funky and putting pressure on the bottom. They gave me several options and I chose to remove the bottom part.
Since I decided to keep the top, they provided great jewelry options. Super happy and satisfied with the entire process!
They also have a ton of gorgeous jewelry too. Love the display cases!
I was all about this place for a while. Facilities are clean, service seems good, and the jewelry they sell is stunning. However, they really screwed me over a few times. First, I got my nose pierced by them and told the piercer that I'd like to replace the initial stud with a tight, thin hoop after it healed. He pierced it so high up that no hoop, even custom-made, could ever work! I didn't think that was too big a deal - I lived with it.
What really got me was when I gave them a 24 carat gold and ruby nose stud from India (a beautiful gift) so they could find someone to make the gauge smaller. I called them every month or so after I gave it to them to check up and they said it'd just be a bit longer. I kept calling, calling, and finally, every month became every few months, and after all of that, I finally just stopped calling - they said they didn't know what I was even talking about. A few years later, I was visiting the store when I brought it up. They said that the jeweler had unfortunately died in a tragic accident (obviously not their fault!). But they SENT MY CONTACT PAPERS with my JEWELRY and did NOT MAKE COPIES, so they could NOT CONTACT ME for years about this really nice nose stud!! They had all but convinced me that I was crazy and had never even given it to them just a year beforehand.
They offered to make it up to me by ordering a custom belly button stud (not NEARLY as expensive as what I gave them, but I decided it was fine considering the circumstances of the jeweler's death). It was supposed to take a month, but it's been two and a half! Whenever I call, I am told that I will be called back, and am NOT. Their professional attitude does NOT carry over to their business or their art.

UPDATE: I have received the navel jewelry (months after the expected date) and it is not the jewelry that Emily and I had discussed at least two times. Really, really unprofessional.
I'm no newbie when it comes to piercings, but I am a total nOOb when it comes to effing up a brand new piercing. I'd just gotten a brand new monroe on a Saturday and  managed to bite the piercing out of my face on Monday. OUCH.
Also I had no backup jewelry and this is an awkward piercing to change when it's completely fresh. I just a slight similar size barbell in for the day and hoped I could seek out a good place to nab new jewelry.
I was downtown and had some time to kill and used Yelp to look up STTP. We were the only people in there but the employee bounced up to great us and ask what we needed. After (embarrassingly) explaining my predicament she set me up with the right jewelry and offered to put it in for me. When I accepted she disappeared to sterilize my jewelry and the room where she was going to put it in. Wow. So much effort to make sure everything is clean and sterile just for putting jewelry in was awesome! She was very knowledgeable and knew I'd need to gauge down since the piercing had started to close without me saying so.
She just charged me for the jewelry & since they have a place near my home STTP will be my new go to. Customer service + good prices + great service = great.
STTP is my go-to recommendation for parents looking to get their young child's ears pierced - anyone else, too, but parents particularly. Â No sparkly, fuzzy kidification here - just pros who are seriously committed to making sure that all their customers (including the small ones) have a positive and healthy piercing experience. Â
I had been a loyal customer of a competitor for several years, having been there several times. I had talked to that shop about piercing my daughters ears, but when I took her in, they told us they don't generally pierce children under 12 (she is 6). We had planned this as a big event, and I wanted to be able to follow through. We called my husband, who found STTP online and sent us there based on the great recommendations.
The shop staff was all fantastic and extremely professional. They confirmed that both of us were ready for the piercing, that we knew about what we would have to do for aftercare, and even that I was the legal guardian. They even made sure that I had read her all the warning paperwork and that she signed it for herself. Â When it came time to choose her earrings, she couldn't decide between two colors and they let her have one of each. Â
Emily explained everything she was doing, showed her the tools (but not the needle), and talked her through the whole thing. A second staff person stood by and gave her some water to drink between the first and second ear.
This was a big rite of passage for my daughter, something I told her she could choose for herself when she was ready. The staff treated her so well, and really honored her as the customer. Above all, I appreciate the clear focus on her, her readiness, and making sure she had a positive experience.
Thank you Emily & all!
Now don't get me wrong; the service here was great! Everyone was super nice and helpful when I was getting my nostril piercing. They provided me with a great selection of jewelry and were helpful in letting me know all of the details of the steps they were going to take.
But unfortunately...my piercing is CROOKED. The opening of the piercing on the outside is higher up than on the inside...likely because the girl piercing me was practically standing directly above my head as I laid down on the platform and she pierced me at a downward angle. As she was threading the jewelry in felt as if the process was being drawn out and was especially painful, likely because the angle was screwed up and the hole was crooked.
In the months that followed after it healed, the end of my nose stud kept slipping out making it look like I had a silver booger; I assumed the jewelry just wasn't bent right and when I was in my native San Francisco, I went in to another piercing parlor to get a ring put in so I wouldn't have to worry about my little silver booger. The girl there tried to thread the ring in and ultimately told me that I was pierced crooked and recommended that I get re-pierced, which I wasn't planning on doing until I got a job that requires that I take the ring out, and without a professional's help it's near impossible for me to put the ring back in myself because of the screwed up angle.
In short, I wouldn't recommend this place for nostril piercings unless YOU definitely know what you want and know what THEY should be doing...otherwise I would look somewhere else.
I have been here twice. Â Once to get my jewelry changed and once to get a navel piercing. Â Both times I have had a 100% positive experience! Â I most recently got my navel pierced by Emily. Â The shop was super clean and they definitely use quality jewelry. Â I highly recommend! Â 5 stars.
Review Source:This is where I take all my princess's to be pierced...well only the princesses that want to be pierced. Review Source:I am starting to appreciate that old saying where one is putting all their money up the nose. It's been happening to me. Is this some sort of quest for me to sniff around every single one of these piercing places in town to find the perfect jewelry for said nose? Â Or maybe I'm just being a little too nasal (instead of anal)? Get it?
I have a story for each time I've had to get a new piece of jewelry for my nose piercing in the last year or so.
The first time, the stone was really tiny, but it was a REAL diamond, and I paid through the nose.
Time before, the jewelry seemed too big to me and had prongs. Â
This last time I bought cheap, so the fake stone fell out.
It was noonish at work, and I needed to save face, and get the sparkle back. Â This place was right under my nose, so I called and told her my dilemna. She was able to take me right away, no questions asked.
The shop is not in the best location, but, I think, it's the only piercing place in the actual part of downtown proper. Â
There are some nice jewelry displays and comfy chairs to sit on. Their jewelry has a life time guarantee and the price was inbetween the most expensive I've spent, and the least. I'm hoping that it's just right finally so this mama bear can enjoy her bling bling. Â
I will be keeping my nose clean from now on though, and hope I don't have to do this again!
I was in Portland visiting from LA and I felt the need to do something spontaneous. I looked up piercing places on YELP and the reviews were awesome. These words stood out to me: comfortable, clean, rad, flawless, professional. All were totally true! Jenni helped me pick out jewelry and guided me through the process. Since I'm from out of town, she told me what to do once I get back to LA in order to take care of my piercing. She said I could call or stop in before I left if anything strange happened or if I had any questions.
Really amazing, really friendly piercers, very comfortable atmosphere. I love my piercing and I wish I lived in Portland so I could go back for any future piercing needs.
When I walk into Straight To The Point I never feel uncomfortable. There have been tattoo and/or piercing shops I have walked into in the past where they made me feel "uncool" because I didn't have enough tats or piercings to fit in. That  of course comes from their own insecurity. I know that now.
The shop is open, clean and comfy. Their selection of jewelry is stunning!  While I am waiting for Emily (who is a piercing ninja) I always look through the cases to ooh and aah.
Emily is friendly, comforting and patient. She takes her time and never compromises her cleanliness.
Do NOT go anywhere else for your piercings. You deserve hospital grade cleanliness as well as welcoming atmosphere and top notch customer service.
First off I have no tatts and no unusual piercings. Â So I am not the kind of guy who usually hangs out in piercing joints. Â That stated let's talk about STTP. Â This place is great. Â incredibly clean, well stocked, and the staff is extremely nice.
Some piercing places can be pretty intimidating for the non pierced. Â This is not one of those places. Â The staff and environment are very inviting.
I promised the cats at STTP I would write this, & it's a little late, but here it is:
I chose STTP because of their 5-star yelp review & I didn't want that to change for anyone in the future.
The place was clean, the people were FANTASTIC, & overall my whole experiance was great.
It was a bit on the pricey side ($75 for piecing & jewlery) but, worth it for the great service.
My intital piercing experiance was great, I felt comfortable & safe, I was well informed on what was to come. A few weeks later, I went in for a tighting & Emily, the woman who had pierced me WEEKS before, remembered me!
I had been bragging to her about a trip I had coming up & she asked me how it was!! I could not believe it. I shop at the same grocery store next to my apartment everyday if not twice a day with the same 3 cashiers & NONE of them remember me even after 2 years... I go in for one 20 minute peircing, & both my piercer & the other gentleman (who's name I cannot remember) who was working that day, knew who I was.
Awesome place, awesome people, perfect piercing.
Went to Portland and wanted to randomly pierce my chest. Sounds a little awful but it turned out to be the greatest random act I have ever committed!
Place is soo nice, staff was super friendly and accommodating and service is great! Price is awesome as well.
So if you randomly wanted to get a piercing some place in your body and it happens that youre in downtown Portland, Straight to the Point is the place for ya!
I got my nose pierced at Straight To the Point and have returned multiple times to buy jewelry and to accompany friends on their piercing adventures.
Everything has pretty much already been said by other reviewers, so I can only echo the positive sentiments. Â The customer service was excellent and the staff VERY non-intimidating; the studio was surgical in its cleanliness; and the selection of jewelry was gorgeous. Oh, and like Gina P. mentioned - definitely check out Nick's book of custom work. Amazing.
The customer service here is excellent. Â It is clear that the staff loves the art of jewelry and has the patience to deal with many kinds of people.
The studio is very modern. And even though the design can come off as cold, the staff's attitude is very warm.
And if you you're under 18, this is best place to bring your parents to sign the permission slip. Â Very classy.
I got my septum pierced here several months ago and it was a great experience. It was the first time I've ever been to a piercing shop where the employees weren't completely pretentious. Everyone was very friendly and down to earth. I really appreciated that. My piercer explained everything as he went and made sure that I was ready and comfortable. Great place.
Review Source:Super clean, super professional, super friendly. Simply put, (probably) the safest place to get pierced in Portland.
I've had my ears gauged here, and my navel pierced.
The only complaint I have is that the music is usually country or some other bull, but apparently the staff isn't too happy about that either and it's set to that station so people don't get intimidated.
At age 26, I am probably the oldest teeny bopper with a belly button piercing--okay okay, a navel piercing, whatever...I don't know what devil possessed me one day sitting at my desk at work, I decided that I wanted to get my belly pierced. I guess it's cause I figured I'm not going to be young forever (even though I pretty much stopped wearing tummyshirts in 1992) and I can't get away with this type of thing forever, so I might as well do it now. So, I walked down there on my lunch break and signed a form, presented my ID (yeah, they even looked at me like, what? why didn't you do this with all your  high school girlfriends in 2001?) and then some cute boys layed me down on the piercing table and a quick pinch later, I had this rad bejeweled barbell dangling from my bellybutton. Sparkly!  Professional, clean, great experience!
Review Source:I came here to look for new earrings. They had quite a variety and quickly found a few pairs that I really liked. There was one pair that they had in a size 4g but I wanted it in a size 0g so they called the other stores, but neither had and he said he would order it. But. I would have to pay the full price up front ($100) and they wouldn't know when it would come in (weeks to months). So i just decided to go with my second choice of a 0g, which I'm wearing now and love.
I was used to wearing acrylic because I could never find anything I was willing to spend money on until my brother brought me to this shop. So these were very heavy and I was afraid they'd pull down on my ears and stretch them out even more, but my ears have adapted to them and I'm used to the heaviness.
Though, because of the high prices, I'll stick with the pair I bought. (I like variety, but I also like staying out of debt)
If you are considering adding unnatural holes to ANY part of your body - this is the only piercing parlor you should consider.
The level of professionalism is incredible, from the cleanliness, product knowledge and care for their customers.
The wide array of various jewelry is amazing, too. Beautiful and original pieces to stick is various body appendages.
I have always contemplated getting a piercing, but the morning of the day that I punctured my earlobes, I had no idea what was in store for me.
A group of friends and I stopped in because of of my friends wanted her septum pierced. The piercing was very honest with her, and explained that she had a crooked septum, so her piercing was probably not going to look like she would expect it too. She appreciated his honesty and decided to think about it (and I am amazed that he was willing to put her happiness over making a buck).
Inspired by the artwork behind the glass, and encouraged by my friends, I decided to get my first piercing, getting my ears gauged. I went from solid lobes to a six gauge, and was super SUPER happy with the experience. I've been back twice, for more jewelry and to get my ears gauged up to a two gauge.
I was super happy with my experience with Emily. She was charming and engaging, and i had a lot of fun working with her. The entire staff is top notch. I'm a big fan of STTP and will not go any where else for any future piercings.
Hallelujah.
This is what a piercer is supposed to be like.
From the very first moment I stepped inside I knew that I had come home to my very own piercing heaven. The gorgeous decor of the building (conveniently sandwiched between Silverado's and the 18+ strip club) served only to perfectly accentuate the cases upon cases of some of the most beautiful jewelry I've ever seen. Tapers made out of turquoise with small fans on half of them, bone-inlaid large-gauge plugs, bone, wood, quartz. They even have a layaway plan (and yes, that should give you an indication of how much some of these babies will run you -- a lot more than I'm comfortable wearing in my ears.)
I filled out my paperwork and was then introduced to my glorious piercer - Nick. Considering the nature of my piercing I was a little unnerved and probably appeared to be vibrating with anxiety. Nick promised to make the experience as devoid of awkwardness as possible (which I doubted the feasibility of), and he managed to do exactly that - via conversations surrounding the corrupt mayors of the cities we come from (Washington, DC and Chicago, IL!)
The entire experience was almost painless (physically and mentally) and Nick's aftercare instructions were complete and clear. I found myself making future piercing plans with him including a potential set of dermals. Now you *know* I like this guy since I wouldn't let just anyone anchor jewelry into my skin.
Then again, I wouldn't let just anyone put a needle where he did.
Can I get a witness? (No. Not really.)
I have nothing but stellar reviews and opinions of STTP. I've been a returning customer since 2001, my first piercing was for my tongue. I followed all of the instructions and had absolutely no problems. Years later, I returned for an industrial ear piercing. Both tongue & industrial were performed by Alec at the time. And then I met the extrordinary Nick K. and, well, what can I say. My heart has been with this establishment since then and I don't trust anyone to poke me the way I like as I do with Nick (just the piercing, although this is a GREAT pun)
For the novice to the advanced devotee of piercings STTP is an across the board, hands down establishment. The place is SPOTLESS, legal certificates posted show that they are safe and legal, and they are popular. Every time I've gone in for either a lobe stretch or new jewlery (which if they don't have what you want on hand, they will call the other STTP, not sure where it is, to make sure what you want can be ordered and delivered). If you don't know what to expect from getting a piercing, the crew at STTP won't steer you wrong, and are uber helpful!
It's always nice to know that the guy or gal who's going to be sticking a big piece of metal into your face is good at what they do. That's what I like about straight to the point. The guy who gauged my ears up was very confident and knowledgeable about the process, and was generally just a nice guy who was easy to talk to.
The place is CLEAN, especially the piercing room. The guy told me that they do things a little differently at STTP which I could see was true, as he seemed more educated about the process and very careful compared to other places I've been. One place refused to gauge my ears up, claiming that I needed more time to stretch them. Just a very short time after this, I came to STTP where he agreed to gauge up two sizes. The first taper went straight through my ear without me feeling anything. Essentially my ears were already at this size even though I had pierced them one gauge smaller. It made me pissed at the previous place, which seemed not to know what they were talking about. The stretching went perfectly and since then the piercings have been in perfect order.
The stretching came free with the jewelery. At the time of my visit, the jewelery with which to stretch my ears was a bit limited, but I loved what I decided on, and the other types of jewelery (wood, acrylic, etc.) were very plentiful and very cool. 5 STARS Ohhhhh yeahhhhh.
I dig this place quite a bit. I haven't been pierced here, proper BUT... I went in not too long ago to see what septum jewelry would fit in my nose these days. Backstory: had my septum pierced a few years ago in a different state. it was pierced at a 6 i believe... not a good idea. I stretched it down to a zero and then...dunt dunt dunt...I realized it was completely crooked and awful. Fast forward to STTP: I went in. They were honest. I have a crappy piercing. I "could" put decent sized jewelry in, but they recommended not to. I put in a tiny ring so my total damaged piercing wouldn't look SO bad. It was clean. It was cheap. They were honest. They seemed to give a shit. I liked that. Most places aren't any of the aforementioned. I'll be back, though my piercing days are pretty much...over. Â At the least, they salvaged my damaged nosey. They hooked me up with some stuff and I'm on the way to closing it up permanently (hopefully!) to be re-pierced. I would recommend this place over any others here. And yes, it is WAY cleaner than any doctor's office. Check it out if you're in the market for a hole in your body. I dig it. Plus, as I've come to realize over the years...small ladies with delicate features need not have a giant zero gauge bull ring in their noses... though, I judge not those that do. I just can't stand them in the winter... tally ho!
