I've been coming here since the place opened. Â Before that, I was getting tattooed by Guf, the owner, for several years. Â The quality of the artwork and tattoo work coming out of this shop is unparalleled. Â There are three artists working and they are the same artists who have been here since the doors first opened. Â All three artists are extremely talented as will become evident when you notice all of the paintings, sculptures, custom resin castings and airbrushed pieces that are on display, among other things (people make special trips to come admire and purchase these items as well).
These guys really know their stuff. Â They are masters of their craft and I can guaranty anyone who goes under the needle at this shop that they will never want to go anywhere again.
Tips:

- Larger pieces are done by appointment.
- They take walk-ins for smaller stuff when they're able.
- Rates are very reasonable.

Milton for president!
My husband had some work done by Milton and when it came time for me to FINALLY get my coverup this is where I went. I had an idea in my mind of what I wanted and took in some pictures to Milton that I thought represented my vision. At my consultation Milton seemed like he understood what I wanted, but said he would sketch up something and call me to come see if I liked it. Â I left there thinking I'd have to come in a few times until we got it the way I wanted my tattoo to look. WRONG! Milton got that shit on the first try! My husband and I were in awe at his sketch. How did he do that? I will never know. Anyways, a few sessions later and my old tattoo is gone and I now I have an art piece that I am beyond proud to wear. Milton is all business and a very talented man. I highly recommend him if you are looking for something you'll be proud of.

All three of my tattoos have been done by Guf. My first two were done a long time ago, back when Guf was still at Ace Tattoo. My most recent was done at Tattoo Royale.
For all three of my tattoos, I went to Guf with a very vague idea of what I wanted. He worked with me to draw up something that turned out to be better than what I had imagined. He continued working with me to make slight tweaks, right up to the point when he turned the needle on. *gulp*
I have three tattoos, but still, the sound of that needle sets my heart to racing.
Guf really is very talented. His artistic ability is undeniable, and his ability to take your idea and turn it into something you're proud to display is one of the reasons I go back to him over and over.
My husband has gotten one tattoo from Guf, and one (huge!) one from Droopy. He was going to go to Guf again, but after seeing Droopy's work, decided that he'd be the best artist for this particular tattoo.
Both Droopy and Milton are also very talented (neither of us have gone to Milton yet, but I've seen his work over the many visits to the shop, and he's good, too!)
The guys are friendly and take the time to make sure the tattoo is right. Plus, they've got good taste in music, which is nice when you're in the shop for a couple hours at a time. ;)
Parking can be a huge bitch, since it's street parking, but we've never had a problem. I've had to go out and move the car up or back in inch or two to bust up the markings on my tire, but that's about the worst of it.
Amazing! My friend and I went in here for tattoos over Thanksgiving weekend. We called the day before to make an appointment and had no trouble scheduling it. I got a small music note behind my ear from Milton and my friend got a doodle I created from Guf. Both guys couldn't have been nicer or better about explaining things. The studio was spotless, they were both quick, and the pricing was completely comparable to the work done. Couldn't be happier with my new tat or the studio. Me and my friend will definitely be back soon to get some more work done!!

I heard that before he started to tattoo that he did other professional artwork, like designing skateboards. Â
Guf is my first choice when it comes to tattoo's.
Guf is by far the most amazing artist I have ever seen. He did a piece on my lower back (omit tramp stamp jokes please) about 8 years ago. It still looks amazing. It is so intricate and the colors are so vibrant. I had this done when he was at Ace. He's also done my Dad's artwork and my Mom's. You can't go wrong by seeing Guf.
Review Source:I was referred to Guf through family friends... he is such a great artist! I e-mailed him a few pictures of some ideas I had and he drew something up for me. He has such a gentle hand and is so professional. Since my tat is over my rib area, he cut up a brand new t-shirt he had their in the shop and had me wear it so I wouldn't "expose" myself. It took about 2 1/2 hours for him to finish the tat but he let me get up and stretch a couple times since I had to be in the same position the whole time.
Tip: Book your appointment well in advance because they are always very busy.
I recently went in to Tattoo Royale for my latest tattoo. I brought in a general idea of what I wanted and Droopy did the rest! When I came in for the appointment the drawing was exactly what I wanted and yet couldn't articulate. It was incredible! My sitting was a little over two hours and I am beyond pleased with the end result. It was my third tattoo and it is by far my favorite. I receive tons of compliments on it. While I love my other work this one is so detailed. Droopy is the man!
I am planning out a huge piece to start on soon and I can't imagine going anywhere else other than back to Tattoo Royale! The artwork is incredible and the staff is awesome. Definitely make an appointment. While they accept walk-ins you're much better setting the appointment to make sure what you are getting tattooed PERMANENTLY is exactly what you want!
This is by far the best tattoo parlor I've EVER been to. Guf is the most amazing artist. He did my boyfriends half sleeve and at first I didn't like the design my boyfriend chose, but after the second session I could not stop staring. It is the most intricate and well done tattoo I've ever seen. You'll have to make an appointment because the artists here are so great they are usually booked up. But if you're going to have a tattoo on your body for the REST of your life, you want perfection. Go here to get it.
Review Source:This is the 6th shop I've been tattooed at in PB and by far the best. I heard about Droopy a while back and decided to have him work my sleeve. He worked great with my ideas and also suggested things I would never have thought of. He made the rest of my arm match perfectly with my upper sleeve which I already had. Good rates and availability, clean and comfortable environment, and awesome artwork. The other guys were doing some sick work too when i was in there. I will get all future work done there for sure. I strongly recommend an appointment as walk-ins are not the best way to go... and to be quite frank... It's a tattoo... It's permanent... I think it's worth the tiny bit of planning to respect their schedule.
In general this is one of the cleanest shops you will find. Â I recommend it to anyone looking for good ink.
These guys are a few of THE best tattooers in SD. I'm positive I will get work done by each one. In the past couple years Milton did my side piece, tattooed my Dad when I graduated from SDSU and my cousin visiting from Scotland. Guff is working on an amazing LOTR sleeve for my boyfriend and I hope to have him start my chest piece asap. They are all responsible for flawless work on everyone I know. I love them and will keep going back for years :]

  I have  a half sleve which I literaly get stoped constantly by comments of the amazing work.  From the drive through starbucks to the tribal tattoo artist in Kona Hawaii they all want to know who the artist was.
  Dropey's clean lines and shading make the tattoo come alive. I went to Dropey with a theme in mind with several images which he then took and hand drew a scene which is seamless and unique.  I am so proud  to litereally where his art on my sleave.
I'm wearing a 1/2 sleeve of Guf's work, and to this day (and many tattoos later) it is still my favorite, and the best artwork.
Whenever I go into another shop or meet an artist, I ALWAYS am asked who did the 1/2 sleeve and they are always impressed.
He is the best, and someone I've traveled back for another piece.
You absolutely can not go wrong with Guf.
