The amount of time it has taken me to actually write this review I feel is an insult to Jeff Meyer which I am deeply sorry for.

This place is a Diamond in the rough. I didn't even know this place existed until one of my old roomates got a coverup done here by Jeff. To which I decided I wanted to take a chance and get my portrait done by him as well. What a great idea that was.

When I first met with Jeff he was welcoming, funny, and laid back. Not pushy at all and the entire shop has a relaxing feel to it. Jeff took a total of 4 hours to do my grandfather portrait on my arm 3 years ago and to this day I have so many people admiring the work Jeff did and I can seem to write down where I got it done fast enough until another person asks where I got it done.

I went back a year ago to get a large deamcatcher done on the side of my thigh and Jeff again was great!

You can do a walk in but I would nnot recommend it. I would go in, find an artist you like the style of, set up a date to come in and go from there. A lot easier.

I recommend this please 110% if you want affordable and detailed work done. It is definitely worth the traffic to get there.

One thing though that isn't worth docking any stars, but still should be noted. Parking is a b****! =[ My opinion, get dropped off or ride a vespa.  Trying to park on the busy Ventura Blvd is the worst!

This review is loooooong overdue.  The owner Sung Song is extremely talented and did a piece on my hips, stomach and above my pelvis area. I didn't get a chance to complete it as I got pregnant and got a lil sidetracked, but, despite the pregnancy, the tattoo still looks fantastic and I am complimented often.

The shop itself is beautiful, clean and I have always found them to be ethical and the owner very principled.

This shop only had 2 negative reviews and neither were about shoddy workmanship.

The guys that work here are extremely talented, in high demand, and create artistic quality pieces.  I paid a deposit to hold my appointment.  This IS NOT some prison yard tattoo type place.

Speaking from experience, Sung Song has been patient with me and gone above and beyond to make sure I was a satisfied and happy customer.

My tips are probably universal for choosing any tattoo artist or shop:

Research the designs and artistic style of a tattoo artist and choose one based on his portfolio and what he or she specializes in.  Gone are the days of some cookie cutter heart  or rose that you pick off a wall at a shop and someone just traces you.  Tattoo artists now are creating custom artwork.  Picasso and Dali were both talented but produced very different  types of art.

When moving to a new place, my biggest cause of concern isn't "Where will I find an apartment" or "where will I buy my groceries now?!" or "Where do I find good hookers and blow?" It's "Where am I going to find a tattoo artist who isn't a total douche and does quality work?" I started searching randomly via google, and Unbreakable was one of the first places I came across. Every artist here does amazing work, and are all around bad ass dudes. Choosing one was tough, but when I saw a tattoo of Lo Pan in Jeff's portfolio, I was sold. I love nerd tattoos, and that's mostly what I'm in for. I've gotten 4 from him so far, and there will be many more. I can not recommend this shop enough. Go here if you like quality line work, phenomenal color, and a group of dudes who are nice, legit, and tell the best dick and fart jokes in LA.

Mark Dupp is an amazing artist and a really cool person as well, I will be back for years to come. I hear the other artists are great too, its just a bummer that peewee isn't aloud there anymore, he was the best part of the visit...

Every artist is hands down amazing in their own way. Out of all the amazing talent I went with Sung. His lines are PERFECT his work is VERY detailed. At first I was a little disappointed about the price, 150 an hour. Expensive. Yet I came to mind that tattoos are on you for life. Why settle for less? See there's hundreds of artist   that do decent to pretty good work then there are artists that straight up are on another level. People stop and say "OMG who did your work bro!" When I look at my tat in the mirror I cant help and be like damn Sung.. why are you so good! Look no further you will find an artist here with the type of style you want. Hidden gem for sure these artist are on some other shit!!!

The best tattoo experience I have ever had.

Jim Sylvia is super talented and a gentleman to boot.  Took my idea and made it better than I could have ever imagined.  Super clean lines and staggering color.

I just had to say something about this place, I normally don't but I feel the need to. I've fallen in love with this place!..... The best atmosphere I've been to, felt completely at ease here....normally I don't. The people here are completely cool and friendly, none of the uppity/snobby attitude I read from some negative reviews on here. If YOU are completely serious about getting tatted then go visit them personally and book your appointment with the artist you want to work with. Simple as that. The deposit kinda helps too, shows that you are completely serious....

I really dig this place and plan on going back as many times as I can, the experience was so darn fantastic that I'm thinking bigger badder and all over!!!!

Plus their little mascot Pee Wee is adorable! I hate chihuahuas but this 3 legged bugger could melt this heart, totally decided that he wanted to snuggle up in my lap.

    Just an awesome place.

Forgot to mention, my appointment was with Julian Zeff, this dude is cool beans!!!!

Ive noticed something interesting about tattoo reviews on yelp. All the people who actually got tattoos give it 5 stars and the people who didnt get tattoos or get piercings give them lower ratings.

Well First off Unbreakable doesnt do piercings which right off the bat should tell you something positive. I really like the way they run their business and youll see people raving about the atmosphere which is nice but to be quite frank I really didnt notice.

I made an appointment with Jim Sylvia which after seeing his work online I was extremely impressed with his bold colors and extremely clean presentation. (I later found out his tag line is "Clean & Bold" which of course made perfect sense) ... Durring the consult he was professional and completely honest with me about his ideas and concerns. I was pretty much sold and made an appointment for about a week later to get the work done. I was actually very lucky to get such a close time as Jim is usually booked weeks in advance.

Needless to say by my 5 star rating I love my tattoo. Jim has a very steady hand and the lines in my piece are perfect and the color is out of this world. Hes got a very good eye for color and really knows how to make your tattoo stand out and completely one of a kind.

Im definitely going back for another consult and hopefully another appointment in the very close future. Bottom line if you are in the valley and you want some high end work done, you owe it to yourself to check this place out.

I love Unbreakable! The atmosphere is fantastic. It has a very zen, relaxing feel. There is a couch and TV in the waiting area which is very nice. The shop is always kept super clean and the 2 bathrooms are very well kept.

I have been working with Julian Zeff for the past 5 years and he is AMAZING! I adore his work and his professionalism. He does a great job translating what I want into art! I'm always very pleased with the quality of his work. I am very happy with all the tattoo's he has done for me. He is great with color. I highly recommend him. Luvv ya Julian!!! You rock. :) I'm always confident I'll be happy with my tattoo when I go to him and that is a great feeling.

I've met the shop owner, Sung, a few times and he is a good guy and has a great sense of humor.

All in all, I love this shop. All the guys that I've met who work there seem very nice. If you're looking for a good shop, this is it.

This shop is amazing.  I started going here because I know Jeff and wanted my first 'real' tattoo from him (aside from the quarter size tattoo I got when I was 18).  Since going here last May I have 4 tattoos that I love all from Jeff. The shop is clean, the reception staff is friendly, as are the rest of the guys in the shop.  All these artists do amazing work! Can't wait to go finish my half sleeve this month!

Eric Evans is my artist for life. He did my whole upper arm and I could NOT have been happier! I got recommended to him by a family member a while back, and since my tattoo I've recommended him to MANY people! His coloring is truly amazing, his line work is clean and straight, and he has great ideas to add to if your open for suggestions(which I highly recommend. Some people think they know what what want, in the very specific colors of their choice, and I've got to say, color schemes on skin is much different than on paper! So ask for his advice! That's also why he's there ;)

6/5 if possible, your the man Eric!

I've gotten tattooed by Mark Dupp and have had several friends that have also been tattooed by Mark. This guy knows what he is doing. If you bring him your idea he will take it and suggest how it can be better. He knows the body and its shape and is amazing at placement. He is quick and produces incredible work. I had no problems with him or anybody else in the shop. These guys are great at what they do. I recommend them to everyone I know and have brought a bunch of friends that think the same as I do. Go check it out and I can guarantee you won't be disappointed. The only bad review is from someone who bailed and didn't even give the opportunity to see these guys awesome work. They are rad.

So, before you read another word of this review look at my default photo.  That back tattoo was completed over a course of 15 months by Mark Dupp.  (The photo only shows the top half of the tattoo). This is a 100% custom tattoo, drawn to my specification and taste by Mark.  He was holding the pencil, but the illustration was a collaborative effort.  Mark spent the time necessary to research the subject matter in addition to finding a way to cover up an existing tattoo in the process.  The illustration speaks for its self.  He spent easily 40+ hours drawing this before we ever put needle to skin.  I initially put down a $100 good faith deposit.  Mark made it clear that if I cancelled or no call, no showed the day of the appointment, the $ was surrendered as it would cost him an entire days worth of driving and be at the shop to be wasted when he could have been tattooing someone else.  Made sense to me.  But then again, I am a serious guy who when I make an appointment I keep my word.

The drawing process was a lengthy process.  Good art takes time to be created.  However, once we had the illustration it was off to the races.  Mark seems to keep a limited number of clients going at any one time so once a project is started its very easy to find a time to get tattooed.

The tattoo process its self was fairly simple.  We had a set night of the week that we would tattoo. He was more than willing to move appointments with proper notice (2 to 3 weeks in advance).  However, with this much work to be done, we didn't jockey many appointments, maybe 3 in 15 months. It was amazing to watch this tattoo take on a life of its own.  The other artists at the shop would stop by and ask questions and make suggestions.  The sessions were long but we had a lot of laughs along the way.  Mark's enthusiasm for the project was infectious.  His attention to detail, knowledge of the subject matter, and masterful technique made this process and final product a joy.  I can truly say that this experience will live with me to the rest of my life.  I am taking this art with me to the grave.  Mark understands how deeply personal and the type of commitment something like this takes and he certainly doesn't take it lightly.

I lived in LA for 5 years before I found this shop and Mark.  It was well worth the wait.  I wouldn't get tattooed anywhere else in LA.  The quality of work coming out of this shop is second to none.  If you are looking for the best price in town, or want to get liquored up and get tattooed at 1am, this is NOT your shop. If you want a well thought, well executed, highly praised tattoo this is your spot  This is a serious shop, run by serious artists, who's work speaks for its self.  The professionalism at this shop is GRADE AAA.

I get stopped EVERY day and asked about this back piece. This is a real thing of beauty.  Also a great conversation starter, even when I dont really care to see or know why you got that Alf tattoo on your back.  There are tattoos that are slopped on and done in haste then there is the work at Unbreakable. Which do you prefer?  Even if you arent going to this extreme, make it worth your while and get it done right the first time @ UNBREAKABLE.  Thanks guys.

I am the last person in the world to complain, but I was so disappointed in the way these little boys handled themselves as "business men" that I had to tell the world that Unbreakable is an incredibly shady business. Mark Dupp apparently has a very difficult time following up with his clients and calling people back. My boyfriend called well within the 48 hr window to reschedule. He also had proof of this on his outgoing call record. From what I understand, Mark did not get the message until the following day, and blamed my boyfriend that he did not cancel within the alloted time. However it took me calling the shop after Mark refused to answer any of my boyfriend's messages for the past 6 weeks to find out what the hell happened. We also stopped by numerous times and Mark was conveniently never there to face my boyfriend and handle things like a man. While all of this was going on, I had an appointment today with Sung which he chose to cancel because he was "sick" despite sounding perfectly healthy on the phone. When we discussed rescheduling, I mentioned that we were having a difficult time getting a hold of Mark. My boyfriend called after that to discuss with Mark why there was such an issue and he refused to be a man and talk to him and instead passed the phone to Sung.  5 minutes later I get a call from Sung saying he didn't want to work with me, even though I had nothing to do with the conflict between my boyfriend and Mark. My conclusion is Mark thinks it is ok to take good honest people's money and cut the phone lines and leave us in the dark. My boyfriend and I have been getting tattooed for 12 years, and have met amazing artists all over California who would NEVER behave in such a childish and unprofessional manner. We have also faced rescheduling issues with other artists in the past and have never had anyone try to hustle us and take our money. We are both highly educated people who are loyal, kind, and honest. I read all of these yelp reviews which praise this business, but I must say I was far from impressed. Do not trust these guys or waste your time. There are plenty of other talented people out there who are honest, talented, and communicate directly and effectively.

I had a great experience at Unbreakable Tattoo.

Julian Zeff, my tattoo artist, is amazingly talented and has a gentle touch... my tattoo felt as if he was giving me "needle kisses" lol. In all seriousness, this shop and artist are no joke... some of the best around. The shop itself is clean, spacious, nicely decorated, and the waiting area has a T.V. and comfy couches.

At this point in time, I am finished with stage 1 (out of 3) of my elephant tattoo and it already looks AMAZING. I can not wait to see how it comes out!

I called this place to schedule an appointment, scratch that JUST a simple consultation and the gentleman on the phone could not help me. He stated there were only two people in the shop and left me at that. thanks for giving me the worst vibes when everyone pointed me in this direction.

Julian Zeff is AWESOME! Especially that beard!!

I came to LA with only brief thoughts of getting a tattoo. I work a lot back home so I never really had a chance to get one and let it heal properly. But when I saw the work done at Unbreakable Tattoo, I decided it was time to get my 9th tattoo (4th on my back).

Julian was the best artist I've had. He was very easy to talk to, made the experience enjoyable. On top of all that he's an amazing artist and I plan on requesting drawings for my back piece for me.

The shop was clean, the music was good (lol), and the atmosphere was relaxing.

The prices were a little steep, but for the quality of work I expected it so I had no problem paying it.

From looking at the other portfolios and seeing the work in the shop, all the other artists were very talented as well.

I would recommend Unbreakable to anyone and everyone!! Especially Julian!!

PS. They do take walk-in appointments if someone is available, but they mostly do appointments with a preliminary consultation.

Jeff Meyer from unbreakable tattoo did an absolutely amazing job on my tattoo that I had on my ankle to mid calf. He is not only a great tattoo artist but his art work is beautiful as well. He takes the time to listen to what you want and tries to make it unique and one of a kind!

I will definitely come again for another tattoo asap :)

Daniel "zens" Werder is an amazing tattoo artist.  I have been fallowing him around for a lot of years and he has done work on both of my arms.  He has completed a full sleeve on me.  I would recommend any of the artist there, but especially Daniel.  Daniel is really talented.  His lines are clean and bold.

The level of professionalism mixed with a fun relaxing environment at Unbreakable Tattoo is just amazing.  Great atmosphere and great artist working there.  This shop is super clean and like nothing i have ever seen before.  All the rooms are private, the tattoo shop used to be a day spa.  You get what you pay for here and then some, quality work.  The level of pride and effort that comes from this shop in their work is amazing.

I had the pleasure of having my first larger scale tattoo designed and inked by Sung 'Keyn' Song. The entire process was a learning/educational experience from choosing the artist to choosing the image. I came across his work through friends and online research.

    SOME WORDS OF ADVICE:
    - Choose an artist by their style and allow them to CREATE something the way they would. Don't go into this shop expecting any of the artists to tattoo your image exactly as you dictate. If you RESPECT their style/skills, then you will inevitably love it!

    - If you do have specifics, find an artist that meets the look you're after. Although these artists can pretty much do anything, they suggest you put in the leg work and really research various artists to find the one that fits the style. This isn't the place to stumble into one drunken night. It's all custom and it takes time, so don't rush yourself.

    - Because I was foolish enough not to know this, tipping is customary and well deserved.

Check out their Facebook page to see more detailed images. They truly are among the best in LA.

This is my absolute favorite tattoo shop in LA. All of the artists are friendly & skilled at their craft, a combination that can be very hard to find in this city. The pricing I encountered in this shop seriously undercut other shops I'd spoken with, especially when you take the quality of work into consideration. It's also nice to know they aren't booked so far out that you'll be waiting more than half the year until they have time to tattoo you.

I've never had a less than stellar experience at this shop. While I've only been tattooed by Brendan Rowe I can say that anyone you choose from their artist lineup will far exceed your expectations. A shop not to be missed, especially if you've got the time/money/space to put towards a serious tattoo addiction.

I have gotten the most beautiful pieces of work that I have from Mr. Sung Song. He does beautiful, very detailed work, that I get so many compliments on I've started carrying a few of his business cards in my purse because I'm often asked where I got my work done. As I can be a bit of a pain in the ass and want to control every aspect of tattoo pattern, Sung is always extremely patient with me and I come out with exactly what I want - even better. He has an amazing eye, and one of these days I'll learn to relax and just let him do his thing.

The shop itself lends itself to a relaxing experience, with none of the macho, testosterone bravado that can often be present in tattoo shops. It is extremely clean, and feels very Zen like.

I highly recommend this spot, and Sung in particular (although, I've seen some of the work the other guys in the shop do and it looks pretty amazing).

Just got inked here. Got lots of recos for the place, and for Sung in particular.

    Perfect experience.

Walk in with your art and consult with someone, then make an appointment and put down a deposit. No tax if you pay cash.

    Clean, intimate, professional.

Sung Song did my work, and I was completely put at ease (it was my third, and biggest piece yet). He was playing something industrial when I arrived, and said he'd change it because he guessed I didn't like that kind of music. And he then put on Jack Johnson, for which I forgive him, apparently that's how I look, like I would enjoy jack Johnson.

I always forget how much it motherfucking hurts to get a tattoo and always manage to pick the most sensitive areas, but that's my problem, Sung was amazingly calm and kept me talking and it was over in about an hour. And it's perfect. I love it.

Anyway, $120 for an hour's work, one color, about the size of a playing card. Are those even helpful details? It was just a black silhouette, so not that complicated.

They have a TV with cable in the waiting area, and an adorable apprentice.  All guys in the shop, but all of them really welcoming and chatty but not obsequiously so.

    Go there!

This was a great experience all around! I found out about Unbreakable Tattoo threw Frankie on another community based website. I met with Frankie a week before my scheduled appointment to discuss my tattoo. I was getting a portrait of my grandfather(Musical Influence). He was very good about asking questions. He wanted to know exact details of what I wanted. I mean, come on! This was going to be on me forever.

A few days past and Frankie recommended Daver tattoo my  portrait because he had more experience with portraits. That's a pretty stand up thing to do. Frankie also does great work! But Daver was more experienced with portraits. He showed me his portfolio and it was great. I spoke with Daver and touched base.

I arrived around 4 this past Friday. I was welcomed in and waited on a cozy couch watching TV. Hi-Def. I may add. :) Its a very relaxing environment. Daver was finishing up a tattoo. We needed change for the parking meter and an apprentice named Chris gave us some. He would regularly check to make sure our car was fine. He also went to the local 7-Eleven to get us some snacks and drinks.

Once Daver was finished, we discussed the tattoo to make sure everything was clear. He put the stencil on my arm and I waited for it to dry. Then, we were off! I didn't want to look at the tattoo till it was finished. During the process, everyone in the shop would come in and say, "Wow", "Damn that looks good", etc. I was very excited and so was Daver. He also had a great music selection. I was getting a portrait and a banner below with my grandfather's old band name. Daver recommended we not add the banner being that the portrait was coming out great and it was so powerful by itself.

Once it was done, I took a look. I was speechless. I agreed that it was better with no banner. It was great work. I am very, very happy with the piece. I could not ask for more. I will defiantly return.

One of the things I loved about this place is that all the artist here are like a family. They would ask each other for opinions. Once my tattoo was done, we showed it to a few other artist there and they really liked it. It was a good feeling. I would definitely recommended Daver, Frankie and all the other artist at Unbreakable Tattoo. You would not regret it. I'll will returning next month to get another.

Wow!  It's hard to believe, but my first tattoo, a half sleeve dragon, is finally finished.  The incredible Sung "Keyn" Song designed and executed the piece, starting at his old shop, and finishing at his brand new spot, Unbreakable Tattoo!

I'll get to the tattoo in a minute, but first I'd like to say that the new shop is definitely a chill, relaxing spot.  The whole place has a very soothing, zen-like mood, and the Asian decor and art is beautiful and relaxing.  There's a nice little waiting room with a plasma TV and comfy sofas.

The other artist working there were friendly, and the place has zero attitude.  Getting tattooed there felt like hanging out in a very cool artist's apartment, which in my opinion is a lot better than the cramped, bullpen feel of other shops I checked out.

The waiting room has a nice, big plasma TV, and some comfy sofas so you can relax while you wait to get inked.  Parking was tough, as there is only meter parking.  Sung and crew were kind enough to give me some quarters, as I totally spaced on that.

As far as the tattoo process goes, this was my first, so I can't really compare the sensation to anything.  Did it hurt?  Yes.  Seriously.  The people who say it just tickles are either lying, or have very different nerve systems than I do.  But was it worth it?  Absolutely.  My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner.  Sung's art is fantastic... people were blown away just by the line art, and now with the colors and shading, it's like an entirely new work of art.  Would I do it again?  Yes... but not right away.  I want to savor this one for a while.  But I already know in my heart I'll be getting more work done at some point.

I had to wait about a month for the first appointment, and about 2 months for the second, but that was fine with me.  You can't rush art, and it gave me more time to save up.  Like any good artist, Sung's prices weren't cheap, but they were very fair, and frankly, based on the quality of work, I feel like I got the bargain of a lifetime.

One other thing... the shop didn't have an ATM  or credit card machine, and for some crazy reason, all the ATM's within driving distance were out of order.  So save yourself the headache, and bring cash.

In closing, I love my tattoo, I love Sung's work, and I love the new shop.  Swing by and check it out.  If you're looking to get some art on your body, this is a great place to go.

PS:  Although Sung was my artist, I also saw some of the other artists work on other patrons, and their work looked fantastic as well!
