Just had a tat done by Ben and he frickin NAILED it!  Perfect in every way.  Dude must read minds or something because he made changes to the pic I brought in which I didn't even know how to articulate.

We were on vacation & drinking in the neighborhood when my wife suggested that an inside joke we'd started a few weeks ago would make a good tattoo.  She'd been wanting one, so setting thought to action we popped in & it turned out Mike Davis had an opening in his schedule.  A simple little line tattoo is probably a waste of his time but he cheerfully put it on my wife's wrist.  Thanks man!

(& it turned out that my wife had actually set the whole thing up like dominos, a master plan, manipulated the whole thing, Doctor Doom style.)

First of all, I would like to give super props to Derick for doing a phenomenal job on my tattoo. I absolutely adore it, and everyone else I've showed it to does as well :)

I came in a couple weeks ago with my boyfriend (who loves this place so much that he only gets inked by Mike now), and I decided on a whim to get another tattoo. Derick's appointment happened to not show up, so he took me on as a walk-in. I told him my idea, and we worked on a couple of concepts for it, and he was attentive, friendly, and patient the entire time, even though we went through a couple of drafts before I was 100% happy with it. I can personally say that I very much appreciate tattoo artists who display a genuine interest in their clients' ideas, since I have had experienced condescension and even annoyance from a previous tattoo artist who I had gone to.

During the time that I was in the chair and getting tattooed, Derick was very nice and encouraging, making it much easier for me to ignore the occasional intense pressing pain on the area I was getting my tattoo. Towards the middle of my session, the clients that had previously booked this appointment slot showed up and were visibly upset that he had taken someone else when they were no-shows. Although this was the case, Derick took his time to explain to them that they were unreachable when he had tried to contact them and they never reached out to say that they would be almost an hour late, so he took me up as a client. After some back and forth with rescheduling, in which he even suggested for them to come on his off day and he would work on them, they decided to come back after Derick finishes up on my tattoo.

That interaction between Derick and the late clients really solidified my decision to give my experience a five-star review (hell, I'd give a 6-star review if that was possible). From my experiences with many different tattoo artists in the city, I can honestly say that not many of them would be so accommodating, especially with the quality of work that Derick does, he could have easily been a jerk about it and just shrugged them off. The professionalism and wonderful customer service that I experienced from this shop, from Jerry's friendly and helpful attitude at the front desk to the artists' exceptional skill to even the cleanliness and good energy in the shop, will keep me coming back here for sure. Highly recommended if you're looking to get some new ink, obviously.

This place has been top of the heap in SF forever, a ton of talent has come through this shop over the years.  I've been tattooed by Mike Davis a number of times, who is one of my favorites for sure and used to get tattooed by Mike Giant there back in the day.  I love my tattoos I've gotten at Everlasting!

Went in today to get the small tat I've been thinking about for a while. Super convenient location and was greeted by super friendly staff ! Derrick happily listened to my idea (sf skyline outline around lower leg) and drew up a perfect sketch! (Considering my idea was still in my head and not on paper). Quick and easy tattoo! Overall awesome experience I highly recommend this shop!

Went to Everlasting Tattoo today for my appointment with Ben Cheese, great vibe in the shop from walk in,clean and well light. Ben had my artwork I provided done for me,exactly what I wanted, and put a flawless Sugarskull on my hand, loved the final result. Shop is very personable and they make you feel right at home. I am following Ben since his move from a shop in Santa Rosa, where I live, this was my first visit to Everlasting and it won't be my last,I now have a new "tat parlor"

Ben did my tattoo as well as my friend's that same day last August. Ben was very accommodating because he came in on a Sunday morning and did both tattoos in a row, which I know is a lot of work. I should mention also that we came in from Phoenix and the shop was also accommodating with talking to us about tattoo ideas over the phone and taking care of the deposit over the phone so that we were ready to get tatted when we came into town for our appointments. My friend and I are both very satisfied with the work, both pieces turned out great! I feel like the pricing was reasonable and I would recommend the shop to anyone.

Great shop, great artists, combined with professionalism and a fun atmosphere. I have been working with Mike Davis the shop owner for the last several years. He rocked two complete sleeves depicting Japanese Dragon, and Koi themes. Both sleeves look fantastic!  I always get lots of positive comments and I could not be happier with his work. Mike will work with your ideas and turn them into tattoo master pieces. If you want a large piece or a tattoo that is truly remarkable he is the person to see.

We met Derick Montez about a year ago at his previous shop. He did a small cover up/addition to an old tattoo of mine. Myself and my fiance were really impressed by his work and have been going to him ever since. He has done 3 tattoos on my arm and a major piece on my fiances arm. He comes up with some really good ideas, has great style, and beautiful art pieces. Derick isnt one of those too-good-to-give-you-what-you-want artists. He'll give you what you ask AND put his twist too it. This guys is great! Also, easy to contact and book =)

Luke gave me the best tattoo experience I have EVER had! That says a lot considering I have a fair amount of ink already. He is a true artist because he cares a lot about his work and making his clients happy. He did a beautiful tribute to my daughter on my foot and it was beyond what I had expected. I have had several friends who went to him throughout the years and I had to see for myself. Im looking forward to giving him more of my business and lots of referrals because he isn't egocentric, his prices are fair, he is super sweet, and EXTREMELY talented. I can't wait to go back!!!

Almost the same experience as Jim M below with the same exact artist. Emailed him some reference drawings after stopping in the shop one day, just as I was told to do. He really seemed interested in working with me. Didn't hear back for a week, so I took my $4500 elsewhere. I'm extremely happy I did and I'm glad I only wasted a few kilobytes sending an email.

I'm sure these guys do good work, and I'm sure they're all super busy. But if you really don't have an interest in someone's ideas, just tell them. The guy at the front desk was really nice and helpful, so thanks guy at the front desk.

When my go to guy at Braindrops told me he was moving I was pretty devastated. But he gave me some recommendations and I checked them out. Ben Cheese at Everlasting Tattoo had some great art and he seemed to have a good eye for detail. So, I called and made an appointment.

Jerry at the front desk informed me that Ben wasn't in on any of the days that I would be available. That's majorly disappointing. But Ben to the rescue! He offered to come in on a Saturday, just for us! What a trooper. Appointment made and $100 deposit left, we waited for a month or so.

I got Ben's email and told him what CP and I wanted. I was worried he hadn't gotten it because he never emailed me back but when we got there on Saturday he was all ready to go with our stencils! And they were almost perfect. After a few small adjustments we were ready to go.

CP went first because he's a tattoo virgin. Ben was super fast and efficient. CP was finished in about thirty minutes. Mine was a little bigger so it took about forty minutes but still, fast.

We were in and out of there in about an hour and forty five minutes. The total (including the deposit) was $220. Not the cheapest place I've ever been to but not bad at all. Especially for how great they both look! Both tattoos are totally perfect and beautiful. It's been a little over a week now and they have both healed beautifully. We are some happy clients and I'll definitely go to Ben again.

I got my tattoo with Ben yesterday. It was my very first and I was incredibly nervous, but I had a great experience!

Ben is clearly on top of his game. In fact, his coolness when I first went to talk to him about it threw me off. I was expecting him to have lots of questions, but he understood what I wanted completely. When I came back in to get it done, what he had drawn for me went above and beyond what I sent him to begin with. He is an incredibly talented artist and had some cool suggestions to make my tattoo better, which was great and very appreciated.

For starters, Ben is a really friendly, funny guy and fun to work with. I wish I could go back in just to chat him up. He made the experience very calm and welcoming. Talking to him really helped with the pain. He is also very perceptive when it comes to the work he's doing and the person he's working with. He could tell when certain spots caused more pain for me than others and made it a point to finish those areas first so the rest of the tattoo wouldn't hurt as much. He often made sure if I was OK with the pain or if I needed a break and complimented my "toughness" from time to time.

He had a really gentle touch and I could see he was very careful and concentrated on his work. I definitely felt like I was in good hands and was comfortable asking questions.

And of course, the finished product was absolutely gorgeous. This tattoo is worlds better than those of some people I know who have multiple and so-called experience with getting tattoos. I love it and those I've shown have not hesitated to compliment it. This is something I can truly be proud to have on my body, not just for the meaning it has, but because of how extraordinarily well done it is. The only downside is that Ben has set the standards for other tattoo artists way too high! I would recommend him to anyone in the Bay Area who wants a tattoo.

The place itself is also very nice and clean. You can definitely trust that you're going to be well taken care of there.

Thanks a million to Ben and the great people at Everlasting Tattoo for this work of art!

This review is about the unprofessional behavior of a specific artist at this business, Luke Francis.

I had a consultation on February 23rd, 2012 with Luke to have a back piece done that would be pretty extensive. I made sure that he was comfortable and capable of creating my vision and he was excited and confident. He told me that he was 4 days behind on his drawings and would contact me in about two weeks with the outline, get approval, and then make an appointment.

I called to check up after 4 weeks and he was busy doing some work. So I left my number again just in case and asked the front desk to have him call me to verify everything was okay. I figured he was quite busy. I never heard back.

After, another two weeks I called the business on his day off and left another message. This time to let me know if he's bailing or not. The front desk put the note up at his work station for when he returned on April 8th. Once more with my phone number. Again, I never heard back.

It's been nine weeks now with no feedback and other artists telling me it shouldn't be taking that long. All I pretty much want at this point is my artwork which I may even have to sacrifice as well.

If he's been super busy, hell, that's fine. I would totally wait. I've been waiting to do this special piece for 15 years now. But no feedback is extremely annoying and it feels like I'm trying to get feedback from a government agency.

Unfortunately, for me, this reflects upon the entire establishment,  and I will most likely never work with any artist there because of this behavior from one.

Have used three different artists but Luke is by far my favorite. His fine lines are unreal. I gave him the basic concepts and he came up with something more incredible than I could have imagined. On top of that he is very cool, no attitude and super friendly. You may wait for a consultation and to get the work done but its worth it, especially since its for life.
The shop is old school cool and super clean.

    I highly recommend this shop!
Unfortunately, being the forgetful person that I am, I cannot remember who did my tattoo. But whoever it was did a phenomenal job.
I loved the shop, the prices were fine, and my cousin and I found immediate parking. The other tattoo artists that were in there at that instant were very talkative and humorous. It made for a good time; especially when you are doing a 2 hour sesh.
So what can I say, I am elated :]
I will be going back for my next tattoo.

    Whoa!

I just saw a new review pop up giving props to Justin, who used to work out of this shop. He's no longer at this shop, folks!!!

Yes, Justin is a really great and talented tattoo-er. His linework is completely amazing, and he knows his colors. His portraits are also really awesome, and if you want to see some of his work he's got some up on a blog (<a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fjustinmaytattoo.tumblr.com&s=2be35af974f3c80fc9d58ea4dafa644f8f831977e10c99c48c3921b58be8161c" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://justinmaytattoo.t…</a>). He's great. I completely recommend him, he'll rock it out for you. He's super duper nice too, dude. He's got you. And then some.

But like all things, there came a time to move on, and he's now working out of Let It Bleed SF (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz/let-it-bleed-tattoo-san-francisco">http://www.yelp.com/biz/…</a>), so if you want any work done by Justin, hit him up at his new shop. Do it!

Aaaaaaand with that public service announcement, I'm out!

Mr. Greg Rojas is definitely my favorite artist in the Bay Area. Whenever I see him I feel I give him the vaguest idea of what I want and he comes through an even better rendering than I could have imagined. I usually give him artistic license so he could add his own kind of flavor to it and he never disappoints.

Greg will forever do ALL my work!

I went to Greg Rojas at the recommendation of a friend. I called him up at the shop and was really surprised at how nice he was. Unfortunately, you sort of come to expect a Class A A-hole when you think of tattoo artists. Luckily, not the case. When I showed up to meet with him, he was even cooler (more cool?) in person, super nice, funny, no ego attached.

But who cares, right? This ink is forever, not the artist's attitude. So I was and am stoked on the final tattoo. I wanted a fairly unique font from a well-known print maker, he adapted the flourish and fonts perfectly to the word I wanted. As soon as I showed the example to him, I could tell he got it, and it shows in the final ink.

Greg is awesome, I would recommend him to anyone, esp if you're looking for a script tat.

This was my very first tattoo and I wanted to make sure I would be extremely happy with it.  So it took me about 4-6 years to finally decide on an artist and the tattoo shop.  I knew about Everlasting a while ago but was always hesitant to try it out because so many of the reviews said that the guys here were dicks.  But I was drawn to the reviews on their ink, though. Many people commented on the bright, beautiful colors and how it seems to stay bright for years unlike some places.

I finally took the plunge this year. Most of the guys that work there turned out to be pretty cool, which has me wondering why so many people think they're not!  I met with Mike Davis (because I was drawn to his style of art) and he turned out to be a really nice guy.  He was friendly and confident in his ability to create what I asked for and made me feel at ease with him so I went ahead and made an appointment for my first session.

The day I walked in for my session, Mike and I sat down together to perfect the tattoo I wanted.  He did his best to try and take my vision and put it on paper, which I'm sure is very difficult.  For almost an hour, he was very patient with me, didn't complain nor did he try to make me change my mind about certain things - he just asked me clarifying questions, to try and show him what I was thinking and he just went from there.  In the end I'm really glad he took the time to work with me on getting exactly what I wanted because I love it!  While I was under the needle, he kept checking to make sure I was doing ok and told me that if I needed a break to let him know.  The second time I went in to get my coloring done, he was the same way; periodically checking to see how I was doing and letting me know I could tell him if I needed a break.  He was a little more chattier this time but towards the end I got pretty quiet and he didn't force any conversation.  The music they played could probably be soothing in some situations but I really wish they had played some hard core punk or alternative or something that could be more upbeat.  It's hard to concentrate on anything else but the pain when you're listening to "soft" music! lol I should have remembered to bring my headphones!

    My PROS:
    - Shop is clean - they follow all sterilization rules.
    - Great group of guys, soothing atmosphere
    - Shop is not anywhere near Bart, BUT the 5 bus stops conveniently at the corner of Fulton and Divisadero, which takes you there and back to the Civic Center or Powell Bart station if you don't want to drive.

    My CONS:
    - I wish they'd open up a little earlier.  Their hours are from 1-7pm, which is why making an appointment would be helpful, but sucks when you're free time is normally in the mornings.

Also, I think it helps A LOT when you know exactly what you want and aren't timid about it.  And if it's your first tattoo, I say make sure you let your artist know so they're aware of that... they might be a little easier on you!

Check out Mike Davis' paintings also.   A true artist that has won awards etc. for his work.   He has them (framed paintings) in the tattoo gallery. Exceptional work.

    <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fmetalinkshop.wordpress.com%2F2009%2F11%2F20%2Ffrom-hieronymus-bosch-to-mike-davis-fantastic-imagery-in-art-tattoos%2F&s=946dfec61292b8b8cbd8ebda47f7ac99c2d4397df6f05265ba92e7e4e91e548e" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://metalinkshop.word…</a>

You have to make appointments in advance to get to see mike Davis.  He is is demand, so be prepared to wait a month or so.  Also, he keeps a clean shop and not dogs /pets are allowed.  I am glad since dogs are everywhere these days even in grocery stores in the city and on Muni, and all that dog hair and my allergies can't stand being sick all the time in the City.  So, those of you who have dogs that you have to take with you everywhere, please get a pet sitter for the time you are there.  It is a health hazard to have pets and open wounds from the tattooing in the same place.

Ok, back to  the tattoo.  I love the shop, it is very artsy, clean and wall designed.  There are lovely curtains that grace the windows and there is a nice waiting room where you can browse the artist's portfolios.

I have had my work done there on and off over 10 years.  I had some body work reconstructed from a very bad tattoo by one of the female tattoo artists that is no longer there.  She was kind of mean to me, but she finally left (They were on Fulton street I think before moving to the Divisadero location).

Mike Davis did some work on my arms that was just beautiful.  He did some Asian cloud's and a water fall on my lower arm that was so airy and light, that it completed the rest of the larger dragon tattoo that was started by some else.  His prices are fair and he does a dram good job.  Everything is sterile and clean.

One day with I have money to blow, I will finish my Asian clouds on my sleeve tattoo.

My husband found Mike's portfolio and shared it with me; knowing my taste.  Mike caught me off guard; not what I was expecting.  He is a very polite, professional artist.  Not the big, burly, attitude ridden type I'm used to seeing.  The shop smelled hospital-clean and everyone had a smile and upbeat attitude.

I'm heavily tattooed, for a girl ;-) and I am a bit shy, so atmosphere is important to me. Albeit, not as important as the artist's skill, but still a bit important.  Mike isn't overly chatty.  He's pretty intuitive and understand as to whether you are in the mood to visit or have quiet time.

He did a full backpiece for me; a mural of a tiger of which I will post pictures.  They truly speak for themselves.  There was a small amount of coverup work with which he worked wonders.  It's amazing to see myself in photos now.  I could never efficiently express how happy he's made me.  He's now working on another large piece for my upper thigh.  It seems each new piece quickly becomes my favorite.

Please go look at the photos and take a peek at the Tiger back piece.  Really, with that photo, there's no need for words.  He's simply an amazing artist.

If you're looking to get any lettering done, Greg Rojas is the man to see! I got a quote on my rib cage done a few months back by Greg and he did an absolutely beautiful job! It was exactly what I pictured it to look like, if not better! His lettering is absolutely perfect, every line and every curve. Hands down, the best artist for any script or lettering work!!

I would have given this place 5 stars if not for the intial reason I had come there the first place. Long story short, my boyfriend was looking to get his first tat done my Mike Davis. Don't get me wrong, we've both seen his work and it's effing RIDICULOUS! He said "Okay, I'll do your tat." We leave him a shit load of reference material and show up maybe 2 or 3 weeks later for the first session and he says he can't do it and that it wasn't his style. Now, that would be understandable if he WOULD OF LET US KNOW IN ADVANCE! We both had taken the day off, drove all the way from East Bay (about an hours drive) just to get there and him tell us he can't do the tat. He had 2 weeks, a phone call or email, even the day before would've been helpful! Oh well.

Regardless of that slight mishap, I would definitely come back to get more work done from Greg Rojas. =)

One of the best tattoo shops in San Francisco, hands down. Not only have they been published numerous times in various magazines and books but these guys are pretty cool dudes as well. I went to Luke to get something done on my arm and he did an awesome job. He did exactly what I wanted and was super cool as well. I always feel a little intimidated when going into tattoo shops because I wonder what they think when I bring an idea or concept up to them but Luke made me feel very comfortable. After researching around the city-my girlfriend and I chose Everlasting. This small, clean shop sits off Divisadero and Fulton. The staff is friendly and helpful. I recommend Luke as a tattoo artist. I also recommend making an appointment in advance. There is a minimum $100 fee and it must be paid at the time of scheduling. If you pay with credit card they charge another $5 fee. The price might be a little more than some shops but worth it in the quality and experience.

My husband had gotten one here a few years ago and suggested I check them out.  I really liked Luke's work, especially his floral designs.  I have to say the first time walking in there everyone was very professional.  I was a little nervous on the day of my appointment because I hadn't seen the drawing of my tattoo, but when Luke showed it to me I was floored! He couldn't have caught the image any better, which made me feel so much more comfortable.  Again, everyone that works there is really professional and the place is very clean!

Everlasting is incredible. I know EVERYONE is typing that exact same sentiment-- but i MEAN it. While I'm not decked with tattoos-- i do have a number of experiences at shops across the country, and Everlasting has been my absolute favorite. Every artist there is approachable, open to listen and really take your concerns to heart.

Better yet, besides being exceptional artists-- they're just great people. Every appointment is awesome, the banter and jokes totally make my day and I can come over for my appointment from a stressful work day and just relax.

Justin is my artist, and our collaboration on my sleeve has been great. He understands my aesthetic and all of my concerns on placement and what not..did i mention that he's patient? He's awesome. I have never received SO many compliments on my tattoos before. I literally have to carry cards around to pass them on to people that ask. Also, i can vouch easily for any of the artists there. They all have great and extensive portfolios and styles. Go in, and no doubt you'll find a good fit.

Been wanting to frequent this shop for a good while, but sadly the funds had held me at bay...

Finally got some work done here by an old friend, Shawn Barber, and the shop is top notch --- the "bee's knees", if you will.

Great set up with a nice "backyard" area, and all the guys here are in great spirits about the day!  Super clean space and super clean talent.
There's probably 4 shops in the city that I would recommend to get work done at, and this is definitely up in the mix.  Good job fellas!!
    Cookies and milk for everyone.

These guys are the standard hourly rate, and sometimes by the piece, but that shit doesn't matter... you can never forget:

I had a piece done that consists entirely of very intricate line work, so I needed someone with a steady hand. Mike Davis was recommended by a friend and when I showed Mike the piece, he said, "Oh hell no. I am not your man - you want Justin for this." Justin took a look and said, "No prob - let's do it next week."

Justin did an amazing job and completed the work in half the time I had expected. All the guys are really cool and overall I just had a great day in the shop.

Verbatim quote from Mike Davis: "If you don't stop kicking your leg, I'm going to fucking kill you."

So, I stopped twitching.  Fear is a powerful motivator.

And now I have a rad tattoo with nary a stray line to be found.

I must say I dig these guys. Everyone is great there. Luke did a piece on my wrist about a week back and it turned out great. Plus Luke doesn't have a heavy hand, which is HUGE!

Justin...talented, professional, and chill. If I get another, I'll definitely go back to him, no brainer.

It was my first tat, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was ready for almost anything. The result and experience exceeded my expectations.

    Thanks Justin!
PS: I can easily see why people say its addicting:)

I'm writing this damn review tonight, despite the bottle of wine I've had.

you know what. Everlasting changes the game.
from the minute you walk through the door this place is CLASSY with a capital K.
Justin sketched up this amazing beautiful, straight out of my mind tattoo that makes me giggle like a school girl everytime I look at it.

These boys are professional. talented. talented professionals.

My body is a canvas, and the folks at Everlasting are the tattoo equivalent of picasso.

ps. if that wooden bench in the waiting room goes missing. I stole that bitch and put it at the end of my bed. just saying.

Let me start off by saying that I've been getting inked for more than 30 years, from the Sunset Strip (1st one) to New Orleans and everywhere in between.  I've just finished my 5th session with Mike Davis who is creating a half sleeve for me over the last 12 months.  With only some vague ramblings on my part about the theme and giving Mike free reign over the design, I have a jaw dropping (almost finished) sleeve.  Mike's artwork is so awesome that my wife and I have invested in a large piece of his artwork to hang in our home.
As some have mentioned this isn't your run of the mill shop, it's the cleanest shop I've ever been in, Mike's choice in music is eclectic, which i enjoy thoroughly, the conversation is always "interesting", and you'll feel like old friends with customers and artists alike by the time you're done.  One huge caveat though...if you have an attitude, have a tendency to make an ass out of yourself, or have a type A personality, you'll probably not fit in.
I have enough respect and admiration for Mike's work that my daughter  just booked 3 appointments with Mike to finish her full sleeve.
    Thanks Mike!

just wanted to give luke some props since i hadnt seen his name up here. i was definitely nervous cheating on my tattoo artist from ny but everyone in there was pretty cool.
he did a small flower on my wrist for me (i brought him in a pin from my mom and he duplicated it). it looked dope but faded a bit b/c on the area. went back for a touch up and it looks even better. no charge either. ill def be back in there for more work.

I have several tattoos. Whatever, who doesn't?  But I fucking hate the broseph/skateboard culture that often channels its way into tattoo shops. I don't care if someone has attitude with me -- again, who doesn't? But just leave the jock shit with the Thrasher crowd and keep the needles free of bro-downs.

With that said, Everlasting forgoes the dude politics I loathe, even though, well, they're all dudes.  More importantly, the shit they produce is magical (second use of magical in one day, it's like David Blaine is stealing my brain).  Everyone there is a for real artist, so there's no tracing or scratching anywhere.  Bring in your idea and, yeah, they'll let you know if it's retarded, but I promise that they'll render it to another fucking level of radness that you'll only believe upon seeing.

Greg Rojas is stuck with me forerver.  Poor guy. Maybe next time he should sneakily tattoo Calvin pissing on my mom or something -- that might be a good way to get rid of me.

Bottom line: If you want quality work, at a fair price, with maybe some David Cross or Crass background noise, then you've found your place.

To me picking a tattoo artist is like me picking a guy to lose my virginity to ( since of course I prefer vagina as a main course lol ).  Well Greg FU!K$N Rojas is the the don, the jefe, the lord of the ink, whatever the hell fancy name you wanna call the best tattoo artist HE IS IT.  Not only did he have hands of the best lesbian that's been inside of me, this man had personality, great vibes, and a sense of humor.  Most people these days whether artist or corporate junkies are too busy being pretentious and forgetting at the end of the day all our sh%t smells the same.  Greg was a humble artist with talent that he could have been snobby about but never was.  Greg finished my Virgin Mary and capitalized the meaning ART.  Genuine dude with awesome talent.  Call him now, book an appointment, OR stay living artless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent spot.  Mike did some amazing work on two of my friends - amazing, unique stuff that they worked with him on.
Greg was super helpful with my idea - explained everything I needed to know about getting an all brown tattoo (they don't stick well so I had some extra care homework and it totally worked - it stuck!).
He used natural inks too which is nice to know - it's not often one thinks of just what is in the stuff you're putting under my skin.
It's super clean in there too and I didn't feel at all awkward being a solo girl in there.

I had some ink done here in 2003 - and to this day it is amazing.... i lived down the street on mcallister so i walked past here almost every day - one day i walked in and talk to greg about an idea i had for my sleeve start - he looked at me like i was crazy, but gave it a shot, drawing away directly on my arm..... by the time i left, i had left a deposit and made my appointment.

came back and he actually showed excitement about doing the piece for me.  He had a few stencils cut out and laid them out - put down the points... then continued to FREE HAND the lines.... i still get constant compliments on the star - and it is absolutely the focal point of my sleeve ( that is still slow going lol )

i highly recommend everlasting.... especially greg - great conversation - amazing artist - tip that man well!

a co-worker of mine asked me today to recommend a tattoo shop for a lettered neck tattoo. i got my latest ink from sweet cecily at cyclops tattoo. she kicks ass--i love her and the spectacular work she has done on me and a bunch of people i know. but she is way more painterly then what he was looking for...then i remembered everlasting...

a handful of years ago i wanted to get my then bf the best birthday present he ever had. he was already sporting a bunch of ink and i knew i wanted to bestow on him something to outdo everything to date. enter mike davis. mike did a massive tiger on his forearm (my x-bf was year of the tiger) that blew us both away. since i am still friends with my ex i can say with confidence that since that piece, all his other work from other artists have not come close. which is probably why he went back to mike for more work. mike's shading is otherworldly and his style is refined.

my co-worker will probably have greg rojas do his piece--look at their site--his lettering work is amazing!

everlasting is not going to coddle you while you're there. if you are squeemish go somewhere else. the attitude here is ballsy. if you can't hold your own don't bother. i had to pony up and tap into my nyc genetics to contend. roll with it all and you won't be disappointed.

    update:
co-worker came back with a great piece! can i recommend 'em or what?

I made an appointment with Henry after seeing a friends tattoo. there was a 3 month wait for me to have my appointment.
when I went in there as soon as I arrived Henry was rude to me. he started giving me shit right away, I don't know if he is always like this, but he came off as the most arrogant prick. and he never let up the entire time. my g.f. wanted me to walk out because he was so rude while he was drawing up my artwork. I stuck it out because I knew he was good. and the tattoo came out killer but the experience sucked and I would never go back there or recommend the place to anyone because of Henry's attitude.

UPDATE 02/13/08: Came back to Everlasting to get a cover-up tattoo I've been pondering for the past several years. I am keeping this review at 5 stars, because at the end of the day, I left happy after both experiences. But there are a few things that certain people--especially females, because there's enough testosterone flowing through this shop to fuel another Hundred Years' War--should be aware of before entry.

First, it's not the most welcoming shop at first entry, but you just have to enter into the conversation, and it's like you're old friends. Everyone who works there is actually really nice (though maybe it's because I have boobs). Second, there is a lot of "off-color" humor/topics flying around--we had a nice (and detailed) little chat about whore houses, for example--which I personally find incredibly entertaining, but some might not. Finally, there was a grip of dudes milling about, wandering in and out, and drinking beers when I was getting my work--again, this didn't bother me because they shared their beer (even gave me a straw!) and the chatter helped distract me from the searing pain in my shoulder blade. But being a partially disrobed girl in such a scene may be uncomfortable for some.

Another thing I found out with this visit is that Henry--as fantabulous as he is--has a seriously deluded concept of time. I called to confirm for my 5PM appointment and he let me know he was running an hour late. And...long story short, we started the needling around 7:45PM. Clearly, tattooists are "artistes" and it's not wise to rush the creative juices, so all this waiting was something I was willing to deal with graciously, but it is something to keep in mind. He also told me the actual tattooing would only take 30 minutes  when it was really about 50 or so. But MAN, what he did in that little time was ASTOUNDING to me, so no matter.

In the end, I left with a full color, three-flower design covering my right shoulder blade for $200. That's truly a bargain for what I got.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: Finally, FINALLY got in to Everlasting here after a year of pondering my tattoo and putting things off (damn my not being independently wealthy). I was able to walk in sans appointment on an rainy Thursday afternoon.

Henry fucking rules. Period. He cracks my shit up. Plus, he knows his stuff. I came in with some fonts I liked for my wrist, and he explained why certain ones wouldn't work at certain sizes (without making me feel like a jackass, no less), and came up with a couple fonts that would work how I wanted. He even made me feel badass for getting it in a sensitive spot. [Heart] I was so smitten I made an appointment for another piece on my back...now I just have to find someone to pay for it.

Costwise: there is a $100 minimum & a $5 credit card fee. I believe the hourly rate was around $200. You will pay, but that's to be expected with top quality art.

Several of my friends have come in here for various work by Mike Davis, and his quality of work is definitely top notch as well.

1st tattoo ever.  Thank you Justin for making  the experience the best, and making me laugh.  I was really f***ing nervous, he was patient and listened to what I really wanted.   His suggestions were perfect and added to the overall design.

Mike Davis is the man! I mean how any people can sit down, draw something with a pen on you and then make it killer!! Mike has drawn a few of my tattoos right on me. It takes a bit of faith that he sees where he's going with it, but they always come out KILLER!!

I have known Mike for a dozen years and have been getting tattooed just as long. Mike has a style that I really like but also surrounds himself with other artists that cover other areas. (literally)
The shop is clean and cool. The art is Mikes as well and each artist there also contributes. I think  the shop has a good vibe and the seem welcoming to all kinds of people.

    Everlasting is the place!!!!

Well, Ignacio, I am glad I am not the only one who felt the customer service here was a little lacking. But what can you expect from tattoo artists. After scouring the internet to find a good artist in the bay area I deemed this was the place to come. So, I did. And, I ended up getting 2 really awesome pieces by Justin for a reasonable price. It was awkwardly silent in there, with some LOTR soundtrack sounding shit in the back ground and the occasional reference to the South Park lesbian episode between the artists.

If you're getting your tats in a place where people will actually be able to see it all the time you'd better think hard about where you'll go to get it done.  Don't' fuck around with tattoos.  If they look like shit to begin with they'll look even more like shit after a couple of decades.  These tattoo artists are the best in San Francisco as far as I can tell.   I also love Body Manipulations even though they're too popular and too expensive.  It's really up to you on how much you want your tattoo to look the way you want it to look.  Everlasting Tattoo will make sure your body doesn't look like a prison job for a pretty reasonable rate.

Now this is a good place to get ink. Every artist working here is amazing. Each artist has a different style so no matter what you are looking for, oldschool, new school, Japanese, lettering, photo-realistic, etc...  they will be able to bring your art/ideas to life. If you are looking for a serious piece, be prepared to wait. This place has a waiting list several months long. But that's the norm at most high end studios.

I usually hate giving 5 star ratings, but this place truly earned it.

I had been thinking about getting a tattoo for nearly 3 years, and I finally buckled down and did it. I decided on Everlasting tattoo after reading the reviews and seeing their site, which is pretty kick-ass btw.

I showed up un-announced. The atmosphere was pretty low stress. I had wanted to get Mike Davis to do my first tat, but he was booked solid clear through July. Lucky for me, Bryan Bancroft (who was visiting) had an apointment that flaked and I got their spot. He drew up a piece of art that took the best parts of what I wanted and made them many times better. I also got to watch Mike Davis work, and he is every bit as capable and professional as I had thought.

In terms of working conditions, this place was amazing. Very clean, very well lit, and they follow the steralization procedures to the letter.

The whole process took around 2 hours from concept to finished. It was well worth the time, money, and pain. If I ever get it into my head to get another tattoo, I'll probably be contacting Bryan Bancroft. The experience, overall, was amazing.

My recent experience getting my first tattoo...

Walking in... I noticed everyone was friendly and funny @ Everlasting... The shop was very chill, sterile and beautifully decorated with art pieces.

I was sorta nervous (okay I was HELLA freaking nervous) I went in thinking I was gonna get something small but after thinking it through my head... I wanted to start out with a bang (get a sorta big rosary tattoo around my ankle and onto my foot) Bryan knew it was my first time and he was patient working with me (especially in figuring out the right design) Knowing it was my first time... he was very gentle with me and got me used to how it would feel. The final result was beautiful and I LOVE it!

I'll MOS DEF (word to hip-hop) go back again ;P

I love Everlasting!  Every time I go in to get work done, I feel like I am a character in Rear Window (minus someone getting killed of course)  Everyone chats, you look around at other peoples work while your artist gets a coffee/snack/cig break.  You know it's super sterile, but yet it has this laid back vibe to it, that makes sitting in a chair for 3.5 hours much more tolerable.  I miss my tattoo artist.  Brian Randolph did all of my back, but he had to take his 6'4" Asian butt to NYC to be with his wife and work at Adorned; the NERVE.  The good news is that everyone who works there is super talented and can ink ya really well.  Look at the portfolios or the web site to get a sense of who would be the perfect fit for you.  This is not the place for the "I had four drinks in an hour and suddenly want flash art on my ass"...THANK GAWD.

I've been going to Everlasting for over 10 years now when they were all the way down on McAllister.  Started with Mike D. doing a small piece on my arm, then had him do my entire back piece.  When I first met Mike, he was wearing Ben Davis overalls and I knew he was the man for the job.

I then went around the shop being tattooed by each person in the shop at the time.  I've been tattooed by the beautiful George Campise, and amazing Mike Giant, and a few other girls and boys that have come and gone.  They are always very professional and great guys to be around.

I haven't been tattooed recently there but all the newer fellas that are at the shop are top notch and I wish I had more skin to keep going back.  I do now and always have refer my friends to the shop.  You can't go wrong with any one there!!!

i am not unfamiliar with the wild wonders contained inside tattoo shops. i have spent a great deal of time getting drilled in shops all over the country, but there's something about this shop and these guys that makes me feel at-home-in-PJ's kinda comfortable. maybe it's the lighting, or the fact that stations aren't walled off from each other. maybe it's how everyone, clients and artists, just chat freely or the way the room just erupts with laughter when worst tattoo ever stories are shared. whatever it is- it is a delightful place to go through so much pain in.
vibe and everything aside- these guys do amazing work. there is a reason one has to wait several months to put needle to skin. it's not a flash-off-the-wall kinda impulse place. you come in with an idea and let them create the magic.
only henry lewis can inflict so much pain but still leave me grinning from ear to ear.

Justin is absolutely amazing.  I wrote a review about him at Marks of Art, but it only throws him some justice to write one about him at his new shop.

He's very nice about everything in regards to accomodating me with what I need.  Always very thoughtful about whats going to be done before he decides to take the machine to my skin.

He's currently working Sun-Thurs. which is convenient for the hairstylist schedule that I have.

His main specialty is portraits and traditional.  One of the girls at the shop has a portrait of her father on her chest by him and its absolutely amazing.  The eyes he's done on my sun and moon is mezmorizing.  I get so many compliments on my colors especially considering I do have darker skin and colors never look "fresh" on my complexion, but he's done a great job to retain the color.

    FUCKEN LOVE HIM!!

P.S.  He talks to you while getting tattooed so no awkward silence which is nice for those long 3 hour sessions!

DEFINITELY WORTH THE DRIVE THROUGH TRAFFIC AND BACK FROM SAN JOSE FOR JUSTIN AT EVERLASTING!!

I first met George at Erno's years ago and He did a respectable job on my hip piece. I then decided I'd do tons of research to find the best tattooist in the city to do my back. After searching and searching I came across George again at Everlasting quite by accident. I spent 6 or so hours with him over the course of two sittings and was made to feel extremely comfortable. I brought in my own design and wasn't made to feel as if it was an insult to do so. George's color work is phenomenal and I'm proud to have this gorgeous piece of Art on my back.

George Campise is the man. He's very laid back and interested in giving you what you want- NOT what he wants. Some tattoo artists find it hard to check their ego at the door when it comes to creative input.

Whenever I can scrape up enough pennies it will all go to George for my next piece. Think long and hard about what you want done(for life). Go in and check out his book. You'll be happy you did.
