Walter is the MAN. Came here yesterday for a tat with a friend. I had my design with me, and he spent the time making sure he understood what I wanted, where, and all the details. He quoted me one price, took some time to draw it out (maybe 20 minutes?) and off we went. Relatively painless, and I didn't feel uncomfortable ever. This place is CLEAN, and unlike a lot of other tattoo shops I've been, it doesn't feel like you have to be a 'regular' to be welcomed. My tat was done inside of 30 minutes, and Walter gave me a great deal for making it an easy sitting. He's the bomb. My friend got a tattoo immediately afterwards with him as well, and he did an awesome job. Will definitely be back!
Review Source:This place has always taken care of me right away. I have been coming here for over 10 years... They have talent and experience on their side. Thanks "Little Joe" for making time to get me taken care of. I highly recommend this place. I will always go here when I need work touched up or finished.
Review Source:My son and I decided to use this tattoo shop after visiting it, Th'ink Tank (great work but grossly overpriced) and Bound by Design (not a very appealing visit since front desk was airing out personal issues on the phone while we waited to be addressed).
Joe completed both phases of my son's first tattoo. First visit was just words and, second, was to add storm clouds. My son is very happy with his work, as am I, and we will both be returning for additional work.
The shop is clean and the work is affordable.
Depending on the day and the work, you may or may not be seen quickly. On our first walk-in, we had to come back three hours later since that was the first opening available. The second time, my son had been in touch with Joe about what he was thinking about adding so he went to visit one day so they could consult and then went in the next day to get the work done.
Cool, authentic spot.
After researching places to get my first tattoo while on vacation I found this place and was really sold on the work I saw. Â It was busy which to me is a good sign but they fit me in to a busy schedule on a walk in. Â They nailed my idea and it looks great. Â Really laid back artists that know what they're doing. Â Extremely clean
Review Source:Picked this place after a ton of research on which shop in Denver to go to for my first tattoo. Of course everyone had recommended Th'ink Tank and Bound by Design, being the biggest and fanciest shops, but wanted a comfortable and personable tattoo experience that I was certain would be worth my time, money and skin.
I couldn't be happier with my choice! I came in on a Monday night with no appointment and was quickly greeted and sent to talk to "Napalm" Joe, who was finishing up a tat. We chatted briefly and I gave him my general idea, and he asked me to come back in 45 minutes or so - I had set aside the whole evening for this (it was around 7 pm) so when I got back he immediately took my preliminary design and started sketching up a stencil. Another 30 minutes and some minor adjustments, and I was on the table ready to go! I was very nervous as this was my first tattoo, but Joe made me feel very comfortable and made sure I knew I could take a break at any point.
The inking took about 2 hours and came out absolutely stellar. Clean, elegant, and well executed. Everyone who saw it the next day couldn't believe I had just gotten it the night before, it's already healing so well. As an awesome bonus, Joe told me he does touch ups free of charge - and that if I wanted anything slightly changed (I had considered getting some color in the lettering) he would do that gratis as well.
Can't recommend this place enough. Really nice people, talented, and I couldn't imagine a better first tattooing experience.
A real street shop. This place is exactly what a real tattoo shop should be like. Great collection of flash on the walls. The current line up of tattooers at Lifetime is Sky, Walter and Spencer. You will not find a better group of tattooers in denver. No insane egos or attitude just good american tattooing.
Review Source:This tattoo shop is top notch... from the extremely polite and helpful guy at the counter to the tattoo artist who waved "hello" from his desk to the hand shake from another who arrived for their shift while we were discussing our ideas... this is a refreshing change. There are far too many front desk creeps that make one feel as though they are committing a major faux pas by inquiring about a tattoo.
All that said, this place has incredible tattoo artists--- they did an AMAZING half sleeve job on my ex husband... he went in with this triathlon theme in his head, as well as a really bad ying/yang tattoo that had to go. Â D'Jene (honestly when he told me what he was doing I was wary... ) did the most incredible job of coming up with a really unique spin on the design, followed by absolutely beautiful tattoo work. Â The colors, the shading, the line work... all gorgeous.
Here's something else that's cool about this place... they have time set aside for walk-ins. Â I think that's really cool. Â Sometimes you just get an urge, you know? Â It's nice to know that you don't have to go to a back alley shop to find an opening with an artist. Â
Don't fear its location on Colfax. Â It's well lit and in a cool section of the Fax. Â I'm sure they'd walk you to your car, though... they are just that rad:)
It has been a while since I was tattooed here, maybe even 2004. Â I do stop in on occasion to check things out. Â This is one of, if not, the best shop in Denver... a town littered with crap, shit hole, scratchers who have little to no respect for the craft. Â You can tell a lot about a shop by its flash... the lack of Cherry Creek and Tattoo Johnny is a good thing. Â Instead works of art by Hardy, Rollo, Higgs, and Rinks can be found. Â Get tattooed here, you won't regret it. Â Remember, a good tattoo ain't cheap, and a cheap tattoo ain't good. Â It is there forever.
Review Source:Been here twice now playing the role of supportive friend during the inking process. On both occasions, we were walk-ins, and managed to get set up within 30 minutes. The folks are professional, friendly, and the work done is stellar. This particular time, my friend was worked on by D'Jene, who is outstanding! She has an amazing portfolio and does really great work. Plus, she's exceptionally personable. Very clean, very organized, and if I ever do work up the courage to get some work done, I definitely will be visiting the Lifetime of Sol establishment, no question.
Review Source:I've gotten a couple pieces done here, quarter sleeve and rib cage, both by the boss, Josh Ford. Â He is amazing! Â He's always scheduled way far out in advance, but if you're looking for a Japanese style piece (his specialty) then he's worth the wait. Â
Everyone who works there is really talented too, if you don't feel like waiting. Â I've seen Alisha and Walt both working on amazing pieces as well. JJ up front rocks too and if you're lucky you might get to meet Metal Dan while you're in the shop!
I went to Lifetime based on the previous reviews (Miranda's mostly) and was lucky enough to book an appointment with Alisha as well. Admittedly, I was a little nervous since I didn't know her at all, but not only did she put me at ease with her engaging convo, she also did a bang up job on my tattoo. Truth be told, it is a simple black symbol about 6"x6" on my back, but the outline and coloring was done with precision and attention to quality nonetheless.
Incidentally, I am moving to Denver next year and she even had recommendations on areas I might be interested in living around. Upon further examination, she was spot on, again! I can't wait to move now and get more work done by her when I do!!!
Alisha is working on my sleeve and I wouldn't go anywhere else. I actually work at a tattoo shop, and the artists there are great, but my arm belongs to Alisha so my time belongs to Lifetime.
If you're a single girl, you might want to bring a friend with you if it's after dark, simply b/c of the part of town that the shop is located in.
