I have bought several fine earrings which are extremely expensive. However, to my disappointment almost all of them fell off. Thousands of dollars gone… when I contacted them to let them know, they did nothing about it. Don’t buy there!!! Unless you want to waste all the money you saved up!

My best friend and I got our earlobes pierced at Venus by Maria Tash a couple months ago.
After web-surfing a little and Venus came up A LOT, I checked it out. The web was blingy (but awesome) and the jewelry they displayed was gorgeous. I had a little trouble finding the contact info, but eventually I got the address.
The store was professional, modern and VERY clean. When I went in, the guy (from past reviews I'm guessing his name was Cameron; unfortunately I didn't catch his name) asked me how he could help. I said I was planning on getting my earlobes pierced. The entire staff kind of chuckled, which was understandable, because  all of them were completely bedecked in piercings, tattoos, etc. Since most of that experience consisted of me looking at the beautiful jewelry, fast-foward to when I bought a pretty pair of studs. Since Venus has a thing where you can bring in your own studs to get pierced, I decided it would be better to do the actual piercing a couple of days later (it was a time-consuming process, but it was soooo worth it).
Anyway, on the chosen day, me and my friend went on in and after a lot of talking with the piercers about the healing process, how to cure an infection, etc. we went upstairs to the waiting room. We had a nice chat with a mother and her daughter, who had come down from Connecticut for a second cartilage piercing. After a while and some serious VOGUE-reading, we were called in. Ashley was super patient and friendly; both me and my friend got our ears pierced successfully.
We bought four boxes of the saline wipes (two for both of us).
Amazing time.
GO TO VENUS BY MARIA TASH!!
I had a great experience at Venus by Maria Tash. I had my second lobe holes re-pierced after they had closed up and my tragus pierced. It was a little busy when I arrived but was soon assisted by Rob. The particular piece of jewelry I was after wasn't available however they were able to get one of the staff members at the other store to run it over - nice touch. My piercing experience was incredible. Rob made me feel at ease and talked me through the entire experience as I started getting nervous! It was quick and painless and he then talked me through the after care routine. If I wanted anything else pierced, I'd definitely go back!
Review Source:Love it, I got pierced by Ashley, she is super sweet and a perfectionist. I have long hair and she triple check to make sure there was no hair  in between my new conch piercing. I previously walked over to NY Adorned where I had an awful experience (See NY adorned ) review, then I came back converse with  BOBBY the customer service rep , he was attentive, sweet, genuine can you tell I loved Bobby OH he is so nice, anyways after 30 mins of picking his brain I went upstairs and have Ashley pierce my conch. It was an excellent experience.
Review Source:the needle tears a hole
that old familiar sting
try to kill the pain away
but I remember everything
And you can have it .... oh wait sorry... I'm reviewing my piercing experience at Venus by Maria Tash, not reliving my high school angst! Â
So I was the 30 year old piercing virgin until I used Yelp to find this piercing establishment. Â I wasn't too freaked out at the prospected of doing it, and have to say it did not really hurt even though there was no ice/numbing cream, and they do it the purest way, which means with a needle. Â Everything was explained to me pretty well and I am a satisfied customer. Â I found all the staff to be friendly and helpful. Â My only gripe is how expensive this place is..... so I'm giving them 4 stars. Â I really feel like it's so expensive it should be a 3 star review, but as long as everything goes well with my aftercare and healing, I am very satisfied.
After doing a somewhat obsessive amount of research into ear-piercing options for kids, I brought my daughter (almost 7) to Venus by Maria Tash to have her ears pierced. Â We had a good experience, and I would highly recommend this place.
I chose a body piercing place because I didn't want to go somewhere where they use a piercing gun. Â Although getting your ears pierced with a gun at Claire's is almost a rite of passage -- it's where I had my own piercings done when I was younger -- I know now that it's not ideal. Â I think that piercings done by a professional, with a hollow needle, heal better than the holes made by a piercing gun jamming an earring through your earlobe.
Everyone we dealt with at Venus was very pleasant. Â I had exchanged emails beforehand with Ashley, who was helpful with my many questions. Â When we arrived, a young man helped us pick out earrings (all nickel-free, with posts custom-cut to the right length for each customer, and soft silicone backs). Â He then engaged my (very shy) daughter in a cute conversation about pets, which helped to ease her nerves. Â
Our piercer was Rob. Â He was extremely professional, patient, and kind. Â Although my daughter had been begging for weeks to get her ears pierced, she became very nervous when she saw the needle and actually ended up hiding behind me. Â Rob and I both assured her that she didn't have to do it if she wasn't ready, but she was determined not to leave without pierced ears. Â She was just terrified that it would hurt. Â
It took a long, long time (and a lot of encouragement) before she was ready to proceed. Â I'm sure it must have been frustrating for Rob, and I worried that we were holding up other customers. Â But Rob never showed any impatience or frustration. Â He encouraged my daughter but did not pressure her. Â He spoke to her like a friend, commiserating with her about her fear of shots, and helped her to feel calm and brave. Â
When she finally let him proceed, he explained every step to her in advance. Â He explained the purpose of each item -- each of which was either straight from the autoclave or in unopened sterile packages -- and changed his gloves repeatedly, to ensure a sterile environment. Â (In fact, the room was so spotless, and Rob was so professional, that my daughter thought he was some kind of doctor.) Â The piercings themselves were very quick, and my daughter was happy and proud as soon as they were done. Â
It did cost more than going to a regular piercing-gun place - but for me the extra peace of mind was worth it. Â Also, I know some people prefer places where kids can get both ears pierced at the same time - so they don't freak out in between the first and second one. Â But if my extremely needle-phobic daughter could do this, I think most kids could. Â I'd recommend this place without reservation.
I needed my ear lobes pierced again after they had closed but didn't want to go anywhere that used piercing guns. Â Knowing there weren't any great places where I live, I began searching online for spots in NYC. Venus kept coming up and the reviews were always great. I happened to be in the city and thought I'd drive by and check it out before heading home. Â Luckily, I found street parking and made it to the shop around 730pm. They close at 8 but I figured I could at least look around. I was greeted by a friendly girl behind the counter who said they usually stop piercing at 730 but that I could still get pierced if I wanted. She helped me pick out two small gold hoops for my ear lobes and a tiny rose gold ring to replace my tragus ring. Â Everything was sterilized including the jewelry that I purchased and the piercings were quick and almost painless. Â They looked great and I had no problem with healing. Â The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the price. Â Yes, the jewelry is high quality and beautiful, and yes the piercers are fantastic but I feel like it cost me just a little too much.
Review Source:I had wanted to get my navel pierced for a while but I waited until now and boy am I glad I did. I had done my research and found that if you want an amazing experience for piercings, Venus by Maria Tash is the way to go.
I was helped by a very sweet girl named Ashley. She reassured me the whole way and answered all of my questions, no matter how trivial they may have seemed. The jewelry was beautiful, absolutely stunning pieces and I chose a gold engraved setting with two diamonds. Love it!!
Cleanliness: impeccable
Service: very friendly
Selection: extensive and of the highest quality.
Pricing: high but worth it
I highly recommend Venus by Maria Tash to everyone.
I've gotten way too many things pierced here lol. The staff are knowledgeable and pretty chatty. I love that about them. They are honest to a fault- when asked about surface piercings (out of curiosity), they told me to go to Decker for the actual procedure even though they do it there too. "He is the best person for that" is what they said. I appreciated their honesty. They've let me stay after closing to get pierced a few times (sorry Ben and Ashley) and they were surprisingly not too pissy about it!! haha!! Seriously the nicest people you will meet.
The atmosphere of the place is pretty nice too. The piercing space is isolated from where the jewelry is displayed. They clearly try to attract high end clients, but I've seen all walks of life in this place. The waiting area could use some work or could be expanded, but I love how small and cozy it is. It forces customers (usually all nervous) to talk to each other. Makes the experience pretty fun. I've met some pretty fun folks while waiting my turn.
Oh and the jewelry. Everything is so shiny and pretty and gah!! I need it all!! Keep in mind though that most of their items are made from real gold and precious stones or diamonds. This place is pricey but you will get well made quality jewelry!!
I'm GOING INNNNNNNNNNnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!
great product line.. jewelry etc ... knowledgeable staff BUT they are ASHOLES! yup, i said it! ASSHOLES!! i dont need tude when getting a piercing or asking about the healing process etc. i'm glad my jewelry is fitted with precision and that my piercing is infection free but i dont like the vibe in this place. a REAL SMILE goes a long way. i wont drop names but trust the Venus staff needs an attitude adjustment. there is no reason that i should be standing outside your shop patiently till open and be looked at with a glare when you open 10mins late - no bueno.. my gripe can go on but i'll stop here. thanks but fuck you! i'm sure you're not THE only shop with decent jewels and custom fittings..
This is a warning to anyone who wants to get a genital piercing here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I got a VCH piercing done back in March at Maria Tash and NYC and a few days later I noticed the top bar of the piercing was exposed and wouldn't go in. I tried pushing it down and checking it out the next few days and then realized I couldn't find the bottom ball of my straight barbell AT ALL. I went back to the piercer at Maria Tash who wanted to "pop it out" and after screaming in pain and asking if I should go to a doctor she told me to do whatever I want--so I ran out of there. Five days ago, the day after visiting the piercer, my gynecologist used a local anesthetic and tried pushing it out but told me she wouldn't be able to and it would need to be cut out. I've been freaking out whenever anyone goes near there now so she suggested I go under general anesthesia but that i wait until I return from Burning Man since the dust and sand might infect the wound. Now that I'm checking it daily I've noticed the embedded ball is moving up towards the top exit of the piercing--- it basically seems like my  body is pushing the embedded ball out. I'm very nervous about leaving it in for another month until I return from my trip.  The barbell that was used was waaay to short.  Now that I've looked up VCH piercings I realize it was the piercing was done totally wrong from the beginning. Even when she first did it, I could only see the top ball. I thought this was how it was supposed to look but its not. If you want a genital piercing please please please STAY AWAY FROM HERE!!!!!
Review Source:I heard about this place through a friend whose nose ring I loved (especially since I needed to replace my nose ring after the stone fell out). Â I came here on a Friday after work, and luckily it wasn't crowded and I was helped immediately. Â The person who helped me was amazing and helped me to pick out a nose ring that met my exact specifications (non gold and small). Â After I picked out the nose ring, I asked if they would do the replacement for me and we went upstairs and he helped me replace my old nose ring with my new one (which was done super quickly).
The working space was clean, tools were sterile, speed was excellent, and service was great (they didn't look at me funny for not being as colorful or pierced as some of the clientele in the store or even the sales reps behind the counters).
Yes their jewelry is pricey, however, given the materials used (gold and white gold) and the quality of the jewelry, I will definitely come back here again (thinking about getting my ears double pierced now).
Okay, so as I was traveling through Vietnam in December, I forgot my cousin's advice and carelessly wiped my face, pulling out my nose ring. Â Realizing it was impossible to put it back in, I stowed it away, and let my piercing close (thinking that when I got back to the US, I didn't want any unconscious bias affect the outcome of my interviews).
Fast forward to June - I'm gainfully employed at a company which I know won't judge a nose ring, so I went back to Maria Tash. Â Chris wasn't there, Ben was my piercer (apparently he was dog-sitting for Chris), and he was up for the challenge of giving me an even more positive experience than the first time. Â He is pleasant, professional and put me at ease with his lighthearted conversation. Â
The fastidiousness of this place continues to impress me; I collected my second pen, and Ben took extra care after adeptly piercing my nose to swab the extra blood that was seeping (the Bloody Mary beforehand at brunch). Â I can say that the experience was as positive as the first, and went by even quicker than I remembered.
Picture it: The 1990's, box braids, biker shorts, Poetic Justice and Mary J. Blige, Brooklyn scenery.  I was young and nose rings were everywhere.  As much as I wanted one, I knew my parents wouldn't go for it, I knew I wanted to be in corporate america and I never really liked the way they sat so high on the nostril (the studs that is).  Fast forward 20 years: Brooklyn, box braids are back, neon is back and I feel a paradigm shift.  An elder tells me I would look great with a nose stud... and it all comes back to me.  I research some of the best places in the city and come across Maria Tash: Piercer to the stars.  I had been to this shop before, but walked out as it was way out of my price range when I was looking for a new belly ring.  However, I knew I had to do my nose right.  Ben, the most precious piercer to ever exist, allowed me to stalk him for months at the store as I battled with switching jobs, declaring my nostrils were too fat and all types of other oddities I used to prolong me getting pierced.  Then, it happened. I barged in on Ben, who is truly a sweetie, confessed my undying love for him, chose a stud to lay flush on my nostril and ask that he take me upstairs.  I loved how we agreed where the stud would go.  He gave me two options and we met on middle ground - and I really appreciate him for that.  Then it happened:  he pierced me.  And it was fine and quick.  I recently came back  to get a another stud, which Ben changed for me.  I expected this to be more painful than it was.  Again, I was delighted.  Ashley rang me up for my new nose piercing, no charge for the change and she threw in some saline wipes for a minor irritation I had with the piercing (not from the change or Ben).  Ben is adorably patient, with a good sense of humor.  Thanks Ashley for being a witness to our love affair.  One star off as I would love to for the prices to be more reasonable - but the service I experienced here on many occasions is really great.
Review Source:Their pieces are very nice and well made.
BUT DO NOT ORDER ONLINE.
No one is actually taking good care of their website. Guess there is no such a customer service. They simply ignore my email asking for expected shipping date.
After 10 days of waiting, I got a package BUT WRONG SIZE. duh!
So i had to go to their store to fix the issue.
I'm more in to tattoos than piercings when it comes to body modification so I've never been picky about where I get my work done but Venus by Maria Tash has shown me that the process of getting pierced can be as involved and enjoyable as getting a tattoo. Â The staff is extremely knowledgeable and can sometimes border on being know-it-alls but I always benefit from their advice. Â Also, in case of emergencies (say, your nipple ring falls out while you're sitting at your desk and one of the threaded balls disappears), you can email them and set up a quick appointment to sort it out during lunch!...not that that ever happened to me. Â The store is a bit on the pricey side for what I've experienced with piercings but the attention and experience is worth it.
Review Source:As someone who got all of my piercings before the age of 21 (during the 1990s), I had the perception that body piercing was anything but an elegant experience. Getting my nose re-pierced at Venus by Maria Tash two days ago certainly broke the stereotype for me. The jewelry is absolutely beautiful, and the service could not have been more pleasant and professional. Ashley, the woman who did my piercing, was incredibly helpful, explained the process fully, and was very patient through my many questions. If you are looking for a place to get something pierced, look no further.
Review Source:I was nervous about adding to my two ear lobe piercings, but I finally got over the nervousness and got my navel pierced, two more holes in each earlobe and one cartilage piercing. Â I have a few more planned. Â I know the piercing process will be clean with as little pain as possible. Â
After each piercing, I've been welcomed back for check-ups and advice. Â When a piercing wasn't healilng fast enough that meant plenty of checkups. Â When I needed an MRI I made the trip to visit to have my newer jewelry reinstalled so I wouldn't mess anything up and it was handled as professionally as the first sale. Â Sometimes when I'm in the neighborhood, I just stop by to say hello and look at what's new while I save my money for the next hole.
When I decided to get a second hole in my lobes I hunted around and found Venus by Maria Tash on Broadway near Bond Street. The whole experience was pleasant. The jewelry is high quality and the piercers are experienced.
I have now been pierced a total of 11 times here. The first hole in my ears was done elsewhere, I have 4 in each lobe and two in the cartilage in my right ear (3 if you count the one I had to take out since it wasn't healing) and 1 in my left rook. I also have a naval piercing.
The only problem I have is not with the jewelry or the staff. I am a 'problem healer' which leads to several visits to have them 'check' my piercing. They always do so and treat me in a highly professional way.
Ashley is usually the one I see but everyone there (who is qualified to help) is friendly and helpful. Even installing a longer back on an earring since the piercing had swelled. (my fault I just had to cover my gray roots and irritated it).
And as other reviewers have noted, I have never been treated as 'weird' even though I am much less decorated then some of the staff there.
I've been going to Venus by Maria Tash for almost 10 years, any time I was in the mood for a new piece of nostril jewelry. I now own five pieces, plus a pair of studs for the second holes in my earlobes. I really love this business. I just wish I could afford their stuff - it's all high-end, exquisite jewelry, and if I had disposable income and/or became a lottery winner, I'd certainly blow lots of money on rings, earrings, etc.
I do want to say that I think things have changed a little bit where their customer service is concerned. Speaking as someone who's been devoted to Venus for nearly a decade, I've always received the best care. I especially liked that I never got even a sideways look about the fact that I have the tamest piercings and not a tattoo on my body. They have also made adjustments to my jewelry for better fit and an exchange on a piece I didn't like once I'd been wearing it, and I've been overjoyed.
But last week I purchased a new tiny diamond stud for my nose, set in white gold, and in less than a week, that tiny diamond fell out of its setting. I was heartbroken and visited Venus last night. I talked to Ben, who was super nice and accommodating when I made the purchase, even adjusting an older piece for me. Ben was great and immediately sympathetic, and began to facilitate the exchange. Trouble is, they didn't have another of the same stud, so I upgraded to a larger diamond and was prepared to pay the difference. It's the two other employees there (one girl, one guy) that kind of took me aback with their cold demeanor, the girl who acted as if the exchange was a bit of an annoyance to her, and the guy who implied that the diamond fell out of its setting because of something I'd done. That really bugged me. If they looked at their records, they would've seen that I'm a longtime customer.
As I was about to pay the difference for the larger stud (which *I* reminded them of), I saw owner Maria Tash, and it was then that I noticed the slightly snooty guy and girl then change their tune with the girl then speaking to me with courtesy and a cheery "have a good night" as I left. I somehow doubt that would've happened if Maria wasn't around. Ben of course, was wonderful yet again, and made sure I was happy when I left.
I know I'm nitpicking a bit, but when I've received excellent care for so many years, I'd hate to see it drop because of a couple of sour people. Ben loves his job and it's apparent. Go see him. ;o)
I spent most of my teenage years a Hot Topic Mess: pleather pants, Smashing Pumpkins t-shirts, plastic gummy bracelets, purple Manic Panic hair streaks that inevitably faded to gray within 48 hours. Now that I'm a grown-up, I confine my inner Goth to two roguish piercings on my left ear--rook and cartilage--and try to suppress photographic evidence of my once-unfortunate taste.
The alternative jewelry industry has not been helpful with the whole taste-level elevation thing. I have a cabinet full of beautiful earrings for my lobes and virtually nothing to put in my other piercings. Almost everything available is, like, made of bright green plastic or features skulls or crucifixes.
A year ago I spent hours in search of a high-end piece that would connect my cartilage and lobe piercings with some kind of beautiful chain, and all I found was some crap on Etsy that looked like it had been made using the beads that came in a Klutz kid's crafting book. Add to that the fact that I'm allergic to almost all metals except silver and gold, and my piercings often sit unoccupied--so much so that the rook one closed last year. Boohoo :(
On a whim during my last NYC visit, I decided to reopen the rook. A quick Yelp search told me that Venus by Maria Tash was the closest shop available. I was thrilled the moment I stepped in the door: I was expecting a Canal Street type place that would shove another itchy titanium post into my ear, and what I found instead was the designer I've been looking for for years.
Tash makes alternative jewelry out of things like diamonds and gold and silver and rubies and sapphires. I was so glad to find a rook hoop made of white gold with a diamond in it that I happily forked over $260 to buy and, er, install it. Her jewelry prices aren't cheap--they start at $98 for a plain, small gold hoop--but if you're part of the substantial, frustrated market of people with unusual piercings *and* mainstream luxury tastes, you'll be thrilled with what's on offer. (You can at least console yourself that her service charge is quite reasonable: $30 for piercing.)
My experience at the store was for the most part lovely--quick and clean--although I was taken aback by my initial exchange with my technician: "OK, show me your old piercing?" "It's a rook, and it's right, um, he--" "I KNOW WHERE A ROOK IS!!" Her snappiness made me afraid that the place was just a downmarket punk piercery in disguise, but her demeanor and care in the back room quickly put my fears to rest.
One of my new year's resolutions is to get another ear piercing in 2012, and I know where I'll be getting it.
I had my front helix pierced by Chris a few weeks ago. Â I have several other things pierced, but this was my first time at Venus. Â He was incredibly sweet, and most important super professional when it came to step by step protocol of sterilization and safety with the piercing. Â He was efficient and knowledgeable, explaining everything he was doing as well as what I needed to do for home care. Â
The only downside is that this place costs a pretty penny. Â It may be high quality jewelry, but $300 is quite a lot for a stud and an ear piercing.
I had my nose pierced here a while back and have not had any problems. Â The piercing facility is clean and the piercers are knowledgeable and reassuring. Â Having my nose pierced was quite painful, but it is going to be a pretty unpleasant process wherever you go. Â My piercer did a good job at reassuring me and completing this procedure quickly and effectively. My piercing healed well, thanks to the careful instructions and saline pads I received from the Venus shop.
Recently, I returned because I had to remove the ring for an MRI as metallic jewelry can mess up the machine. Â The piercer put in a clear plastic retainer that did not cause an infection for the week it was in and did not interfere with the MRI. Â This retainer also was extremely effective at concealing that I had a piercing. Â I would recommend going here for a retainer if you have an occasion where you needed to hide your piercing. There are retainers out there that are cheaply made and can cause infection and/or do not do a very good job at concealment and this one even though it's a little more pricey does the job well and with no damage. Â I returned for a third time to get the clear retainer removed and purchased a beautiful opal which is my current piece. Â My mom who hates my nose ring even reluctantly complimented it. Â There are so many beautiful nose rings here that I have had a very tough time choosing. Â I am looking forward to returning again. As many mentioned, the jewelry is quite pricey so unfortunately I won't be returning too soon.
I would also recommend the east village location for tattoos!
Earlier today my 14 y/o daughter VERY RELUCTANTLY got me to agree to get her tragus pierced. I accompanied her to the store on B'way & Bleeker, where she picked out a $175 stud + the cost of the piercing, the total would have been $219. Much to my surprise the sales person said that we both needed to show ID to prove that we were mother and daughter and not just random strangers. I found this very bizarre! Where as I had ID, my daughter didn't, but even if she did what if her last name is different from mine, which is a very common occurrence, how would that prove that we were related? Did they really think a random stranger off the street (which is an example the sales clerk used) would drop $219 on an earring??? There was ZERO common sense to these stringent and irrational rules. I think a simple consent/release form signed by the accompanying adult with a photo ID would suffice. Needless to say, Venus by Maria Tash did not only lose our business today, but FOREVER!!! Not to say that they seemed like they cared one bit that a $200+ sale walked out the door. Very disappointing experience overall.
Review Source:Here's the thing...I've never been physically into the Venus shop either. I have only ordered online. And although the jewelry is very beautiful, their shipping policy is an absolute nightmare!
Prepare to wait at least a MONTH for your package. Don't let the 7-10 business days fool you. They do not give you a tracking number nor do they tell you if they are shipping via UPS, FedEx, USPS, etc. You'll get a confirmation email once you pay and then poof! Nothing. For the next three weeks you'll be checking your mailbox wondering where the HELL your package is or if they even sent it!
If I'm dropping more than $200 for some jewelry, the least they can do is give me a frickin' tracking number! It took me three emails to pry a tracking number from them and by then, the package was already delivered.
To their credit though, the customer service people were very polite and quick to respond to my concerns. But be warned, if you are going to order online, make sure you save yourself the headache and just pay extra for the 2-3 day shipping. That might cut your one month wait time in half. I really love the jewelry but the waiting grates my nerves!
Still, I'll buy from them...but only because there aren't many other high-end stores for me to buy diamond or platinum nose jewelry.
Let me preface this by saying that I have never physically been to Venus.
Instead, I order their jewelry across the country and love every piece of it.
I have a white gold clicker in my septum, a yellow gold flower in one conch, a prong-set cz in my other conch (soon to be replaced by a yellow gold tiara piece), and a white gold double-braid with cz on my chest.
It makes me shiny AND fancy.
It makes it easier to look down one's nose at the "cool kids" who look like they were involved in some sort of tornado within a Hot Topic when wearing a heinous amount of high-quality jewelry. Do I care if your lobes are bigger than mine? Skip you and your acrylic tapers. I'm wearing gold, bitch.
Shoppers now have a whole lot this weekend and while I was running so I took the opportunity to look at some nice new piercing and planning to get me a new pair, already has three pieces, but two, I will get me, so I checked around and will probably go here again.
Venus is a favorite, I think, see if you, as I think the same, but it makes you enough when you visit the site.
I came to Venus by Maria Tash because my microdermal that I had gotten pierced somewhere else had lost the thread and I needed to get it reinserted. The woman who I spoke to on the phone was very kind and helpful and I felt comfortable going to this shop to have my issue taken care of. When I walked in the place was very clean and the piercer efficiently replaced the top of the microdermal with minimal pain and didn't even charge me, which was really nice. I'm taking off one star because he was a little bit snobby and was criticizing how I had gotten it done, as if he was trying to sell their service which is undeniably and RIDICULOUSLY expensive. Overall, they were very helpful and i recommend this shop for microdermals despite the price.
Review Source:I came here twice; once to get a new cartilage earring for my ear as the stud I had at the time was too long for my ear, and another time about a week and a half later for a check up. Upon entering the store, I noticed that it was immaculately clean and tasteful.
In picking out my earring, the salesperson (unfortunately, I cannot remember his name) was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He waited on me very patiently, which is great because I am quite picky and usually take a long time to decide on purchases. God bless him for his patience!
Once I had picked out my jewelry, I was directed upstairs so that the piercer, Cameron, could help me with the proper fitting. Cameron was very polite, professional, and super hot. With his help, I left not only with a well-fitting earring, but also with a newfound appreciation for soccer and bicycles.
About a week and a half later, I started experiencing a little pain around my cartilage piercing and, upon closer examination, I saw there was a bump forming. So, I headed out to Venus for some advice. When I got there, the guy behind the counter was again so nice and, surprisingly, remembered me! After listening to my concerns, he introduced me to Ashley, the piercer.
Ashley is a really great girl. She's very knowledgeable, friendly, and really good at helping anxiety-stricken neurotics. Ashley helped me figure out why the bump formed (I'm not supposed to turn the earring when cleaning) and how to treat it (increase the number of saline compresses to 2-3x a day).
This place is really great--they have fantastic staff and amazingly beautiful body jewelry that no other piercing studio's inventory can compare to. The only not-so-great thing about this place is that the price for jewelry is a bit on the high side (I ended up paying around $60ish for the earring, $55ish for the backing for the earring, and $10 for the fitting.. My math went wrong somewhere, as the total was around $180 in total).
Despite this, I would ABSOLUTELY go there again as they're unique in the merchandise they offer and have wonderful staff members. A++ for Venus by Maria Tash!
After much research, I finally got up the courage to get my cartilage pierced. Like many of the positive reviews here, I had a pleasant experience. I've been to other piercing salons and just felt out of place or judged because of my lack of piercings, but at Venus, they welcomes me and were very helpful with picking out jewelry. Yes, it's expensive, but it is also high quality. It's your health, so why risk it? The piercing itself was a quick pinch followed by a bit of soreness for a couple of hours. Definitely bearable. If I were to get any other piercings done, I would come back.
Review Source:Everybody here was very nice and thorough. I had Ashley as the piercer and I wanted my cartilage done. I paid for the jewelry and the piercing service and the saline wipes downstairs and proceeded upstairs for the actual piercing itself. I had to wait quit a bit because there were some people ahead of me but no complaints. The piercing was quick and relatively painless. Ashley was super friendly and made me feel very comfortable. She told me all of the steps and made sure I was happy with the location of the piercing and etc. The jewelry was very pretty but since I needed to pay off my college tuition for my summer classes I couldn't go all out and pick the one I really wanted. Yes, it is quite expensive but I'd rather pay more and make sure there are no problems with the piercing then go to some shady place in St. Marks and get it done there. I will be back in one month for the check up. Final words- go there to get pierced.
Review Source:I had a great experience here! I have a couple dermal piercings (got them pierced somewhere out of town) that were giving me some trouble. Ashley spent so much time with me and really made me feel at ease about how to care for them. The store is beautiful and classy and so is the jewelry and staff. I also bought a beautiful ring for my rook piercing and Ashley put it in for me. I will definitely be back!!
Review Source:Super  nice people work here and it really does have the best customer service ever. I went in and they told me about the navel rings since I was getting one. The place was super clean, classy, and straight forwards. There are 3 pieces to the navel ring and priced seperately but they were really helpful and said how you can get 2 of them fused so you are less likely to lose the pieces. Also they can get different color gems or special order them for you.
Def pricey as I spent $240 on a simple navel ring but the quality is similar to everything else online that is about 200 and ontop of that they fit it exactly to your body. My other ones had either not fit in the past or just not fit as well. They really do make sure you walk out of there with the perfect piece of jewelry you were looking for and that it fit for you.
They also sent out an email and encourage customers to go back to get refitting, bring up problems, and etc.
I came to Venus after finally making the decision to invest in a high quality belly ring. I was paid a pretty penny but left with exactly what I wanted and 2 years later I am still very satisfied with my ring. The staff at Venus fitted me with the proper size ring (a first for me). If your searching for good quality jewelry for any piercing this is a great place to check out.
Review Source:About 2 weeks ago I went to Maria Tash to get a chest dermal piercing. I was a little nervous, but piercer Ashley walked me through the entire process which made it quick and not as painful as I had expected. The studio is very clean and classy which for me epitomized the difference between Maria's piercing "spa" and a regular tattoo/piercing parlor. So far my piercing has been just fine and I've gotten lots of compliments on the beautiful jewelry.
The piercing was pricey, but I used the birthday discount included on their city search listing and I also had a gift card from my boyfriend. Despite the price, I think the experience, quality jewelry and service make it worth it.
I got my nose pierced here a year ago. I remember waiting with a friend for a V E R Y long time, due to a customer complaining and demanding every staff member assist her and her only. By the time they dealt with her, Maria had come in. I was very nervous abut the pain and because I'd waited so long, Maria was nice enough to offer me a shot of the icy cold numbing spray. Didn't feel a thing and walked out with a piercing that felt like it had been there forever.
I had to return a few weeks later as my stud had sunken into the hole and swelled up a tiny bit. The guy told me to take an aspirin and put some tea tree oil on it. I was a little shocked, but followed his instructions and voila! No more sinking piercings.
Came back again to get a smaller stud. Allison (I think that's her name) who'd pierced me the first time replaced my stud. Painless experience. Friendly folks.
My gripe is that the jewelry is very expensive (though beautiful and ornate) and I'm sure better deals could be found elsewhere.
I just called to see if this store had a replacement ball for my lip piercing, and the receptionists was very rude and offensive to me. she kept saying how the type of lip-ring I've loved and used for 8 years was subpar and poor quality and She couldn't believe i would let a low class piecer give me that ring. I've bought replacement balls from different kinds of store previously, and she tried to convince me that no stores would ever sell me this type of ball and she wouldn't even know where to point me.
Thanks for making me feel stupid and low class. At least I know this low class piercee got replacement balls DOWN THE STREET from this store.
i wouldn't shop here if they were having a 50% off sale.
I had the most wonderful experience at Venus by Maria Tash. I have been there numerous times, having them check out my piercings and even custom making an earring for my monroe piercing. When I recently realized something was awry with my dermal piercing I headed straight to the pros at Venus. I was on my lunch break and knowing that, they worked very quickly to accommodate me and take care of my irritated piercing. Cameron McConnell was working the desk at the time. He was friendly and patient while answering all of my questions regarding my piercing. Todd Dipopolo was the piercer who took me upstairs and examined the dermal on my face. He explained in simple terms what happened to the piercing and the exact steps it would take to remove and help it heal. It was a very pleasant and minimally painful experience thanks to Todd. He's incredibly personable and super skilled at what he does. I was able to get out just in time to make it back to work on schedule. They are reasonably priced, kind and super professional. I would recommend this place to ANYONE looking for custom jewelry and piercings. Thank you to Todd and Cameron for giving such great customer service!! :)
Review Source:So, I'd been thinking about getting a Monroe for awhile and finally took the plunge. I called ahead because I was worried about how I'd look the week after and wanted to know what the healing process would be like. The guy on the phone was super helpful and nice. My experience in the store lived up to that first impression.
Cameron did my piercing, though I think he was from out of town filling in so I'm not sure how long he'll be there. He was really great and professional and I was a little nervous and probably annoying at first. He made sure to show me how the jewelery went in and everything beforehand.
The piercing itself went super smoothly - he did a great job making it quick and painless. As everyone has said it's not the cheapest place, but I didn't worry once that the tools weren't sterile, that those at the shop were anything less than professionals, that the jewelery wasn't top quality, etc. So I was happy to pay the extra money and be sure.
I'm not a super cool-looking person and only have ear piercings so I wanted somewhere I could walk in and not be made to feel like I was being judged. I totally found that here.
I had been thinking about getting third holes in my lobes and a conch piercing for a while now. Â I'm from Chicago, but I have yet to be comfortable with any of the piercing places in the city. Â Knowing that I'd be in NYC I checked out places there and Venus came up. Â I checked with a few others, but none were as attentive and patient as the guys at Venus. Â
They're a bit of a high-end place though so be prepared. Â The carry white, yellow, and rose gold and a few titanium options for piercing. Â For my 3 piercings, I chose some of the more inexpensive options and the jewelry in total ran me about $130. Â The piercing fees ran me another $60. Â Not bad though for a clean, nicely kept place with real gold. Â
Todd?? was my piercer. Â He was super nice and made sure he autoclaved the jewelry and showed me the paper to prove it. Â He even autoclaved the toothpick was going to use to mark my ears. Â He then opened all of the piercing needles in front of me and changed his gloves a number of times whenever he touched something else. Â He was thorough in explaining what he was going to do and where the placement would be and why he thought that would be a good/not so good place. Â
The actual piercing part of was quick and relatively painless. Â The conch of course had a bit more bite to it but I survived. Â It's been about 5 days and I'm super happy with my piercings. Â So far no problems. Â I highly recommend this place for the cleanliness and experience as well as their patience. Â I thought about 4 stars b/c of the price, but you know, I'm happy to pay more for the peace of mind that I won't be getting someone else's diseases.
I've gotten piercings before--mostly ears and a navel piercing, and I decided on venus for what they call a tash rook and two cartilage piercings.
The jewelry selection is amazing, I only had trouble deciding because all of it was so cute, and the guy helping me was helpful as well as patient.
My piercer, Ashley, was great too, and friendly right from the start. While we were talking, she informed in about the whole process-the sterilization of the jewelry, the instruments, how much it would hurt, and was patient about my pickiness on the placement of my cartilage piercings. She talked me through everything she was doing, gave me warning and time to take breaths, and so it was over and my ear looked perfect.
The price is reasonable, especially for the quality of the jewelry and the quality of the work.
I only wish they did tattoos here, but I got a card for their other location and will be going to get one soon!
Due to the many Yelp Reviews and my need for a new tragus ring, I decided to check out Venus. My only intention going in was to check out the merchandise but the bling just called my name. When I arrived the store was empty and I had full attention from sales personnel. I received a phone call and stepped outside (I'm not "one of those" cell phone courtesy plz no 1 wants to hear your convo). Upon returning the store was packed and the original sales guy was helping a group of girls. The other sales person assisted (Ashley) and was just as attentive. I ended up with a rose gold paisley design with a single diamond. The diamond snowflake I really wanted was about double the price but I will return for it. I had to go with a titanium back but ordered the rose gold which hopefully will arrive in 2 wks as quoted. I paid an extra $10 to have Ashley change my earring. She was a bit rough but very clean changed gloves several times and disinfected the jewelry.
Maria was there too! She had beautiful sapphire and diamond hoops on along with a diamond nose stud. She was very helpful as well and charged my total purchase.
The minus 1 for the lengthy time waiting to be charged and for the slight roughness. But I'll return, Maria definitely knows her bling.
I wanted my nose pierced for a while, I forgot why I chose this place but my friends got me a gift certificate for this place. Â This place is a bit pricey so i dont think its worth it if you get something small pierced, but if you get something big, like your nipple, then i would come here, but thats just my opinion. Â The piercer I had was very very nice. Â She had quite a few piercings herself, I asked later if she pierced herself before and she did most of hers which was cool...I love piercing...If i was thinner (flatter stomach) I would definitely get it pierced but i dont know if i would come here.
Review Source:After many years of forgetting to wear earrings, I had my ears re-pierced here (well, the piercer didn't even need to use a needle, she just used a wire of some sort to re-open up the hole). Very clean, very professional, and even painless! The earrings were pricey, but when it comes to your health/sharp objects, peace of mind is worth it! Recommended!
Review Source:if you want or have a body piercing, then purchasing jewelry from Venus is a must!
Both this location in addition to her other location carry a large and gorgeous selection of jewelry to compliment whatever piercing you may have (from earrings to nose rings, belly rings and more).
Last year I purchased my third belly ring from Venus - a gorgeous yellow gold and tanzanite dangle. my favorite thing is to switch out my belly rings every few months, so now i have three that i can choose from, all of which are stunning.
and after a few years of wear and tear, you can bring your jewelry in to get refinished (for a small fee) and when it comes back it looks brand new!
and the staff are always fantastic - understanding that you're making a significant purchase whether it's a couple hundred or thousand dollars, they don't pressure you and let you take your time deciding on which jewelry to purchase.
so yes, if you have piercings, the only place to go is Venus!
This store is very gorgeous. Â One night while out with friends I decided I definitely wanted to get my nipples pierced. Â Now this wasn't a rushed decision, I had been considering it for nearly a year and thinking on it. Â That was just the final push to getting it done. Â
I had already researched some shops, asked around for recommendations, but I have to say I was impressed by the reviews on yelp, and very impressed with the website, especially their high quality gold jewelry. Â
I called and told them upfront that I had a nickel allergy. Â They told me it was not a problem, although it would cost more than the standard 'piercing' piece because I would need at least 14K gold or platinum jewelry and that I should come down. Â
I did, and the shop is just as beautiful as the website, stellar and clean. Â I discuss my options with them, and they inform me that not only can I get 14K gold, I can get nickel free 14K gold. Â Amazingness! I pick out a barbell style piercing and go with the 14K White Gold, all nickel free. Â
They checked the shop and didn't have everything I needed in at the moment, so they called their other shop who also didn't have everything I needed to get pierced that day, so they special ordered it. Â To make sure I was getting everything correctly sized, they took me up to their piercing room and carefully measured me to make sure everything would fit appropriately. Â
I will admit this took a bit longer than expected, through no fault of Venus...and when they got everything in, they made sure that everything worked together, so I'll excuse that delay. Â They also kept me pretty up to date on everything, always were pleasant and never rude when I called, and repeatedly thanked me for being so patient.
Once everything was ready, I made an appointment to come in with the piercer. Â I showed up with a couple of friends for support and they led me upstairs for the piercing. Â My friends were joking that only I would manage to find the classiest piercing studio in town. Â
My piercer was fantastic, she took my jewelry and sterilized it. Â Then she brought me in and went through all of the special procedures she had gone through to make the equipment clean, including opening fresh needles in front of me, changing her gloves a million times, and describing placement, procedures, etc. She showed me the card that came up with my jewelry to show it had been sterilized, all the needles had clearly marked auto-claved tape on them. Â She marked me with ink from a sterile bottle rather than a pen (way more sanitary) and she had me lay down.
No clamps, which was honestly what I feared the most, she had me inhale and she pierced on the exhale. Â She adjusted everything and had me switch sides. Â Before I knew it I had been pierced in both nipples.
The piercers here know their shit. Â They are courteous, professional, and very felxible. Â I had a fantastic experience and would recommend anyone going there. Â While they are on the pricier side when it comes to their jewelry, the old saying you get what you pay for is definitely true. Â While I could have gotten another kick ass tattoo for the same price (due mostly to my own allergy and need for pricey gold jewelry) i am really happy with my piercings.
I went here because my other piercer retired. Â It was a little too pricey and the jewelry was ok. I am allergic to all gold and there was a very small selection in steel. Â In addition, the piercer had issues working on my tragus. Â Now I might have small ears, but he was completely lost and when it fell out for the third time, I just left it out.
There are other places in the city that can do a better job than this place.
Beautiful, clean store with high-end body jewelry. If you want to invest in a nice nose stud, come here. I picked up a white gold and diamond nose stud. At $120, it was a tad pricey, but I wanted something that would last. Let's just hope it's a real diamond. I'm no diamond expert, but it looks sparkly!
The staff here was excellent. A few have some crazy piercings, but they don't look down on you if all you have is a dinky little nose piercing. They also custom-fit the nose screw and put it in for you, which is nice for novices. The guy that fit it was pretty hot, too, and very nice. The only thing that made me a little uncomfortable was that there was a glass jar in the piercing/fitting room with money in it. I didn't know if I was supposed to tip for the fitting. Since I had just shelled out some serious dough for the jewelry, I didn't. But I feel kind of bad.
I'll definitely be back to pick up another piece when I've saved up.
My tragus piercing that I had done 10 years ago started killing me. Â For some reason, the skin had healed over the backing. Â I had gone to some of the highly rated piercing shops and they told me to go to ER. :(
But I contacted the Brian from the notable Piercing Experience shop in Atlanta for a recommendation which lead me to maria! The piercing patched me up and its so much better! Â Thank you for saving from ER.
I had been browsing Yelp for a few days, looking for a decent tattoo/piercing parlor that had everything a patron could want in that department -- friendly/knowledgeable staff, clean instruments, reasonable prices, etc. -- and finally decided to check out Venus based on previous reviews. Â
I stopped by after yoga one evening and the first employee I talked to was really nice -- she answered all my questions and we chatted about options for a navel piercing I wanted. Â (My navel had rejected its piercing twice before.) Â She wasn't impatient or disgruntled at all that I was just in there to gab and not actually buy anything. Â
And thus, I went back a couple days later to get fitted with a gold barbell with steel balls (what she suggested in terms of accommodating my metal-sensitive body without spending tooo much). Â My piercer himself was really great too -- he was funny, seemed like he really knew what he was doing, and generally made me feel at ease. Â He even gave me his Sharpie marker at the end... I mean, totally irrelevant I know, but since I have weird obsession with Sharpies, that's a plus in my book. Â
All in all, I had a great experience at Venus. Â They told me to come back at any sign of infection or trouble with the piercing and they'd take care of it. Â And so far, so good. Â It's only been about three days, but I'm hoping third time's the charm, haha. Â I would definitely go back to Venus for other piercings, or to get new jewelry... (a lil pricey, but def some unique pieces that actually look GOOD and not like mass-produced plastic).
Was looking for a place to have my ear re-pierced, went to Body Adorned for an eight thirty appointment, got there at 8:20 and was told I was too late. The shop is a little dank with dirty ripped furniture and the jewelry selection was lacking. The piercer told be I had a choice of a stainless steel or gold ball woohoo the choices. Anyway told them to forget it and went to Maria Tash. The shop is lovely the jewelery is exquisite. I got my hole repierced by Chris who was amazing. I was the biggest baby imaginable and he still managed to convey support. And the earring I got pierced with is a beautiful rose gold and diamond butterfly. All in all while I hope not to have anything pierced again this is definitely the place I would go.
Review Source:My local place in SF carried 1 piece from Maria Tash and this store was one of the few places that I had to go to when I came to NY. I wanted a new nose stud and came out with a beautiful gold and lavender gem piece.
The storefront is upscale and beautiful. The white interior with glass cases displaying all the jewelry made it super fancy. The employees were nice... enough- though when I told them I wasn't a fan of diamonds, both decided to sell me on why diamonds aren't bad. I JUST DON'T LIKE DIAMONDS! LEAVE ME ALONE.
One star down - the piece I purchases was around $250 and believe or not, they still had a $10 fitting fee? And the fitting wasn't even that great - when I got back to SF, I had to get it readjusting at my local fav Body M.
I didn't get a piercing here, but I stopped in to scope out their navel jewelery since my budding collection was stolen. Â Their bars were nothing spectacular and pretty plain, and the staff had a really hard time answering our questions like: "How much does this one cost?". Â They were friendly enough, but how can you sell something that you don't know the price of??
Review Source:I had my nips pierced here, and the woman who did it was so pleasant and soothing.
"Ready?"
Sure I am..
"Ok, take a deep breath."
ROAR!!
"Wow, that was a nice scream.."
Of course it hurt, but I mean, they are nipples. But pain is also temporary.
The jewelry selection is amazing, and I got a little barbell with a typical ball on one side, and a "diamond" on the other. Very cute and feminine. The prices are on the low to medium side of high, but you are getting authentic metals and jewels, so you can't/ shouldn't complain. But do ask before choosing. I almost made a big mistake, haha.
I plan on coming back here to get the other side of my nose pierced and possibly a beauty mark piercing, if I can find a sparkly stud suuuuper tiny enough.
I just wish they did tattoos too.
Definitely would not take a chance getting pierced anywhere else in the city.
The entire place looks and feels squeaky clean, and the staff is very friendly. I spent 15 minutes grilling the assistant and piercer with questions about my piercing (care, placement, possible rejection rate, etc) and they answered them all patiently and professionally. The jewelry is absolutely gorgeous - ASK FOR PRICES BEFORE YOU CHOOSE A STONE OR METAL. You may suffer sticker shock. They will do standard jewelry for you also, which is way cheaper and may be a smarter option if you change your mind about the piercing.
I am a fainter and need extra time to collect myself when I get something pierced or tattooed, so I prefer to go later in the evening when the rush is lower. You don't need a reservation or consultation, but I'd strongly recommend calling ahead if you're looking to get something more elaborate than a nostril punch. The staff has always been great about staying a little bit after closing to make sure I'm OK on my feet. The equipment is 100% sterile and the placement/piercings are quick and relatively painless. Never had a problem with infections or rejection.
After getting terrible ear-gun piercings that got infected everytime, I was finally ready to do the real thing! I'm so glad that I did! Yes, the jewelry was expensive (the piercing was totally reasonable). But when I think of all I wasted getting my ears done at cheap places, it was all a waste! Everyone was so friendly and everything is extremely clean. I never once felt uncomfortable. AND! It hurt less than with the piercing gun. Don't waste your time at cheap places, come here, get it done right the first time...
Review Source:I am freakishly afraid of needles, and have been putting off getting my ears pierced for about a decade. I found this place on Yelp, and after reading its good reviews, decided to give them a call. The girl I spoke to encouraged me to come down to the store, where everyone was extremely supportive and helpful. I was put at ease by the friendliness of the staff, and decided to have my ears done that day. They helped me pick out a pair of suitable earrings, which are absolutely gorgeous, and my ears were pierced quickly and painlessly! It seriously hurts, like, three times more to get your eyebrows waxed. I felt silly for being so worried about it!
The store and piercing studio were impeccably clean, and I definitely felt comfortable getting holes put in my ears there. The staff also seemed very knowledgeable about the jewelry, and experienced in piercing. They let me know how the entire procedure would go, and what I should do afterwards. I was surprised that almost all of their after-care advice was completely opposite of what is advised on the internet, as well as a whole lot less abrasive. I trust them, of course. No infections yet.
I will definitely be back (if I can afford it).
Wow- what an outstanding establishment!!!
Aside from having my ears pierced, I've never had a body part pierced. Â I went in to get my navel pierced, and didn't have to wait at all. Â Within minutes, I had picked out my jewelry and was heading into the piercing room. Â
I should note that I'm a huuuuge wimp when it comes to anything related to needles, AND that my best friend backed out of going with me at the last minute, so I was pretty freaked out. Â I'm such a wimp that I cried when I had my ears pierced (at the age of 20!), but the ladies at Venus were so sweet and comforting, that I actually felt pretty relaxed. Â The whole procedure was quick and less painful than having my ears pierced. Â The place was incredibly clean and sterile, they had TONS of beautiful jewelry (although it could get pretty pricey), and my piercer was clearly very experienced and did an awesome job. Â I was very happy with my experience at Venus!
Oops! I accidentally wrote about the wrong Venus by Maria Tash venue - I had meant to review the one in the E. Village.
I am updating my review because I was contacted by the Customer Service team who offered me a gift certificate due to the experience I had. I am adding another star because they seem to genuinely care about their customers. I will be purchasing a new ornament in the near future. Thanks!
I live in San Francisco now and I absolutely cannot find a place like this ANYWHERE for navel rings. This is by far my favorite place for navel jewelery because:
- Great staff
- Delicate with the navel piercing
- Excellent quality of jewelery - I'm allergic to anything that is not gold and here they have many choices
- Mix and match jewelery so you can create your own look
- Ready to fix a broken piece if you have your receipt
My only complaint - it burns a hole in your pocket!
pretty much everything that casey said.
i bought a nose ring here, they custom fit it when you buy it so it fits like a dream.
really friendly, patient, well informed staff willing to share what they know with you.
i'll come back in the future for all my nose ring needs (which right now aren't many, but they'll get my business when the need arises).
- very friendly staff
- can custom order/fit/make pieces, so the jewelry fits perfectly
- I purchased a pink sapphire and ice tiara floater piece set in white gold for my navel, the piece screws internally to close and they fit you in the store so it's virtually impossible to accidentally lose
- they have a lifetime replacement policy, so if you lose a gem from the setting they'll replace it for you
