AVOID THIS SHOP! AVOID THIS ARTIST!!!!
My girlfriend had an appointment with the shop owner HOMER at 4:00 p.m. to start a very detailed back piece. We sat there for 2 hours before we got started. That was a little frustrating and should have been the first red flag. He acted like it was no big deal and didn't even offer an apology. When we finally did get started every free second he got he was on his phone texting and checking his facebook. He made us feel like he didn't care about the tattoo at all. He also changed the design with out asking us. He said it would flow better so we trusted him since he was the "artist". We should have stuck with the original design. We managed to get the outline done. When I got home and got a chance to look at it I noticed his lines were not straight or consistent! We paid HOMER $300 to mess up her tattoo!!!! Now we have to pay another artist to fix it!!!
I came here about 4 months ago for a navel piercing I called first to ask if there was an appt needed for piercing and I was told there wasn't.
There's not a lot of parking at this place but its sufficient. The person who helped me when I walked was fairly nice but seemed rather stuck up. He answered all my questions, & once he started sterilizing the jewelry picked out he finally looks at the area he's working with (my navel) and tells me he can't pierce it! Something about the shape of my belly button (that I would describe as an outtie-innie: somewhat out at the top and in at the bottom) and if he did pierce it my body would reject it... -___-
I was very disappointed. I kinda wished he would've looked to see if he could it before I fueled out paperwork and picked out jewelry and before he sterilized that jewelry. That would've saved some time.
So I walk in one day and I meet Homer. My two friends and I walked in hoping to get some work done. He obliged and told us to return a few hours later. We came back and waited for a while as he finished up. He spent some time with each of us getting an idea of what he wanted. Homer is THE fastest tattoo artist I have ever worked with. I planned on being there for a very long time but my friend's bicep tattoo took about 10 minutes and my other friend's wrist tattoo about one minute! I had some detailed work done on my rib (which HURT) but he was extremely detailed and quick though. I don't think I could've done it anywhere else. Although he did waste a lot of time talking, checking his phone, and who knows what else he was very fast actually tattooing and very nice. As for walk in appointments he was extremely accommodating and friendly. My only negative comments are that he spent a lot of time on his phone between sessions and going downstairs to do other things while we were just sitting upstairs and waiting as well as I wish he could have done more free hand collaboration with what we wanted. However I understand we were walk ins and for that he was really great.
Review Source:The artwork is okay. The issue is customer service.... I went there to inquire about prices and art. I ended up waiting for probably 15 minutes. That might have not been so bad, i understand how busy they are, but the counter guys (two guys) went out to get lunch together when it was a full house! Then they sat behind the desk fiddling with their computers instead of talking to customers. I left without getting a tattoo.
Review Source:Really professional and clean piercers; they are extremely aseptic and hygienic...a friend of mine and I have both been pierced here (rook and tragus) and haven't had any problems (infection/payment/etc.) Â Also when I had to buy a replacement ball for a ring, the piercer offered to put it in for me (THANK goodness those are so impossible). Â
Theres this one male piercer there that does seem a little unfriendly towards people that aren't tatted/pierced up like he is...but I feel like this pretentiousness is pretty common at all tat/piercing parlors so whatevs! :)
Do not go here! Go across the street instead . The word "customer service" is not understood by the staff. They were unwelcoming and seemed as if they did not care to be there. When asked about an adjustment to a design, Mike said "You are asking for too much". Â What kind of customer service is that??? When we walked away, they chased after us and demanded 50 dollars because they simply filled out a few lines of paper work. Save your money and go somewhere else.
Review Source:My mom and I came here to get matching tattoos after I read the sparkling reviews on yelp. It was her first tattoo. They were very patient in assisting to design our tattoos when all I brought was an idea. Light hand and steady work. It took longer to design then to finish the tattoo on both of us!
Review Source:Two piercers here were unfriendly, uncooperative and very dismissive of my piercing after-care concerns.
"If you want to have a nose piercing, you're just going to need to get used to dealing with some stuff." I'm okay with dealing with some stuff, but I would like to know what are measures I can take to alleviate my discomfort. I tipped this piercer $20 in the hope that I would get a decent amount of aftercare, but I might as well have tipped $0 for the amount of input I received.
So as luck would have it at 15 years old I decided that letting new tattoo artists "practice" on me was a good idea.... Â Â (((face palm)))
So for the past two decades I just reserved myself to the fact that I was gonna be rockin' Â the 1990's bad tribal art that I put on my back forever....
That was until Dale of 713Tattoo swore up and down that he could cover it fully with anything I would like....
I must admit I was kinda skeptical at first because I had some seriously ugly black and red tribal but after 3 sessions its totally gone and I'm a 3rd of the way done with my full back piece...
I never realized how much that tattoo bothered me until it was gone.... and not only is it gone but my cover up work is beautiful!!!!
So if you have been hiding hideous tattoos, please ditch the shame and embarrassment and have Dale the Nail turn it into a work of art....
Dear Dale, I friggin' LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had a very good experience here with piercings from Chris at 713. Â A Â friend and I went together after checking out some other places. Â Much to my surprise, there seemed to be fewer tattoo places in the neighborhood that offer, let alone excel at piercing. Â The selection of jewelry was good and everything was clean and professional. Â My friend had her nose done and I got a helix stud. Â There was little to no pain and everything is healing well.
Review Source:Pleasant greetings when you first walk in. That's a first for me at a tattoo parlour.
I got a second ear cartilage piercing here at 713. I couldn't believe how much less it hurt than my first one. Â I got my first cartilage piercing at Zebra in Berkeley, and the piercing was throbbing the whole night and into the next day.
When you go, ask for Kieran: he's been piercing for over 15 years. Â He was totally laid back and the whole piercing area is very sterile. He wore gloves, apron, and a mask, and sterilizes the equipment where you can see it. Â
So it's a little bit more pricy than other shops, but it's totally worth it for the professionalism and less pain from an experienced piercer.
Minus one star for crappy parking.
Wouldn't get a piercing here. They messed up 3/3 of mine.
They attempted to give me a second lip piercing to match my other side, totally crooked, he also said the person who pierced my other side didn't know what he was doing, that's funny because the one YOU pierced has PERMANENTLY Â damaged my gums and I have to get oral surgery.
Got my nipples pierced, CROOKED
And not through the right part of the nipple either
This time the piercer was "filling in".. I don't know she was some girl from New York or something that was "in town to help out"
Whatever.. pretty much I'm never getting a piercing from them again
(Got all 3 done 2 years ago, not sure if the same people work there)
i choose Jay. he is so sweet and talks you through the whole thing.
he was honest which i admire and he does exactly what you ask...which is definitely what you want from a tattoo artist.
i even ran here in the rain...haha. i went to many parlours and they were all very rude and unwelcoming...not that i expect tattoo artists to be friendly...but dang...im about to imprint a permanent mark onto my flesh, can a girl get a "hello"?
the shop itself is clean and has lots of designs, but i recommend bringing your own on a piece of paper. they etch it, print it and tattoo it.
if you're looking for tattoo artist, definitely start here...
Although I am from NY/NJ this IS my tattoo parlour!!!!! I have nothing but great things to say about this place from the beautiful hardwood floors to the vivid personalities of the artists. They were even accommodating to the fact that I asked if we could please have a music change because I couldn't tolerate the "butt rock' anymore and mixmaster tattoo artist Jay threw on some hip hop for my friend and I.
This is my second time coming here, I first came last year and had work done by my girl Kristen H. and this time she redid a hackjob tat that I had done in NYC. Amazing work. My bestie had a new tat done with some whimsical looking stars by Jay - again beautiful shading work - I will post pictures!!!
Prices are very reasonable and if you haven't been before come and look at the portfolios and make an appointment to come back if they are busy!
Look at my new tattoo, guys!
Juuuust kiddin'. I actually swung by 713 Piercing today after my belly ring fell out during a jog at Memorial with the lovely Eren M. With a week-long absence of a belly ring, my skin somehow closed. (Fact: Depending on your body's reaction, it can take a few hours to a few years for that to happen - if at all!)
I know what you're thinking. Maybe that was a sign to just leave it be, but my tummy looked so strange ... so plain. Okay, that's it. I'll officially retire my navel ring when I'm thirty ... five ... ish.
This place is a lot bigger on the inside that what you would expect from the exterior. I walked in to find a room covered with tattoo art, and the fella working the front directed me upstairs to the piercing studio. According to their site, they have one of the largest peicing studios in Houston. I bet. This upstairs area was huge. Almost like a gallery with different rooms. But to be honest, their selection of navel rings wasn't that great, however, I was in search of something specific: a fairy. Instead, I purchased a $20 bar and Spliff (new to H-town, has the coolest spacers and works there Tuesdays and Thursdays) sterilized it and even put it on for me, using his fast yet gentle hands to re-pierce me. I gave him a little extra tip for doing that for me.
