I got my first tattoo here by a guy named J. I was getting a medium sized piece on my back and since it was an original sketch made by my sister it had a lot of sentimental value so, obviously, I really wanted it to look nice. There was quite a bit of detail so he suggested we outline it first in black which I wasn't ecstatic about but I trusted his experience.
He made sure to sanitize everything in front of me, which was reassuring and he went into detail about what getting a tattoo is like so I was prepared. He was gentle and considerate, asking if I needed any breaks and it really didn't hurt at all. He even played a dvd to distract me :)
I went back again to have the color done and was disappointed. He didn't remember me at all and didn't seem to care. He said that my skin tone was strange (I'm white, not sure if that matters) and because of that the colors had to be done differently. He seemed impatient to get the work done quickly and as a result the red on my tattoo (which I thought was blood initially) just looks like two dots instead of lines. I was happy with the blues and greens but I feel like it could have been more vibrant for sure.
Things may have changed, I haven't been back since but all together I felt like he didn't love his job or his work and I didn't leave enthusiastic about the piece he did. As a result, I'm getting it redone this year at Diamonds in Renton.
Good points: Clean and affordable (touch ups at no charge)
I went in one night on a whim with a friend who was moving away, we just wanted to get a small piece each done. The experience was awkward. The artist who tattooed my friend was some what friendly, but professional. However, the artist who tatt'd me wasn't as welcoming. I think his name was Robin, but I'm not sure cause he barely spoke to me. Â I got a small tattoo on my forearm, it was not my first tat but by far the most painful. I have had several tats in places that could be considered more painful then most but this dude was diggin the needle in my arm so hard I wanted to just get up and walk out. The shading is terrible and I noticed it right away. The outline is quite a bit thicker than we discussed. Its been about 7 weeks and I still am debating whether to get it covered up or try to get it salvaged by another artist, as the scar tissue is pretty bad. I think that this artist was fairly new but didn't put that together till after the fact. That would have been helpfult to know from the get go. I won't be coming here again.
