First of all, Nash is super hot. Second of all, I think he's really nice. Third of all, he did an excellent job on my Jeff Buckley handwriting tattoo. Fourth of all, the bro-ish looking dude at the front counter was not so nice.

I came here in April to get a tattoo, since I was on vacation from LA and I've always wanted to get a tattoo in...another city that is not LA. NYC was perfect for my Jeff Buckley tattoo for many reasons. The bro-ish looking guy (just looked him up...Anthony or whatever?) was kind of rude and didn't understand what I was talking about when I told him what kind of tattoo I wanted, which made me become extremely anxiety-ridden since I came in with a bunch of friends and everyone was staring.

Anyway, whatever. My tattoo came out perfectly and once again Nash is hot and not the other guy. BYE!

It was with great trepidation that I stepped through the doors of "Thicker Than Water" tattoo. I had traveled from Boston. I was frazzled. On my train down, I was sandwiched between someone who smelt like haddock, and someone who smelt like stale cigarettes. On top of that, I was anxious because I was leaving my regular artist to get tattooed by Guy Ursitti. I felt like I was starting an illicit affair of some sort. As soon as I was greeted by the friendly Shop Guy, all of my fears and nerves subsided.

This is a custom tattoo shop. All of the tattoos are drawn specifically for you, which is awesome! Even though it may appear intimidating, everyone at the shop is so nice and accommodating. Guy, Dave, and all of the other artists in the shop make you feel right at home.

I was hesitant to get tattooed by a man, (I usually get tattooed by women) but Guy was the consummate professional. He was also hilarious. If you're going to spend 2+ hours in a chair, contorted into an awkward position, having needles stuck into you, it's always good to be with someone who can make you laugh.

The customer service, shop, and my tattoo were all excellent. I'd highly recommend "Thicker Than Water" and Guy Ursitti. It was worth the 4+ hour trip!

It;s been about eight years since I got my last tattoo, so I was pretty excited to get back in the game. After talking to the owner about what I was looking for he paired me up with Guy Ursitti. After grabbing some references and a quick meet and greet I scheduled an appointment with Guy. Hurricane Sandy came through which pushed my session back but I was super happy that the shop came out relatively undamaged and my appointment was rescheduled so promptly. Guy really nailed the art work, keeping true to the design I provided but also adding just enough of his style to make it a really sick collaboration. I think tattoo shops can be really intimidating but I feel this shop makes a good effort to make you laugh and feel comfortable. I'd definitely recommend you checking them out and help support small businesses like Thicker Than Water.

The only reason I went to Thicker than Water was for Ashley Love, who does amazing work, is charming, professional, and all of the things you look for when someone is permanently marking your skin for hours on end. And, of course, I love both the tattoos she's done for me.

Additionally, the shop is great, not overcrowded, people are friendly enough to chat for a few minutes. And it's clean and all the stuff everyone always wants to know. The other artists' portfolios spoke to the high quality of their work as well

Clean shop with a great atmosphere. I had work done by Ashley. She's awesome (for those of you who may not know!)

Great tattoo shop. Nice decor and atmosphere, clean bathroom, etc. etc.

Obviously what is most important to a tattoo shop is the artists that work there. I can speak firsthand about Ashley Love and Tron and they are both AWESOME. I am from California but have traveled to NY to have the majority of my tattoos done by Ashley. Enough said? I think so.

The other artists that work there all seem super chill and friendly, and based off their portfolios, talented as well. If this place was not on the other side of the country from me, I would definitely be there more.

Andy rules! I got my first tattoo in 10 years from him at Thicker Than Water and it was the best birthday present I've ever given myself. He's friendly and has steady hand. He was a trooper and hammered out a giant tattoo in a single session without many breaks (unless I needed one, which definitely happened.)

The atmosphere is casual and typically dudely, like most tattoo shops, but as a lady getting tattooed there the shop banter was entertaining and never out of line.

ive seen rich for my last three tattoos. i found him by accident while tipsy with an extra $100 in my pocket.... my tattoos are all small but i get soooo many compliments specically on the ones he did for his line work and artistry. he takes his time and listens... there are loads of good reviews that got filtered which i think is bs because this shop is chill and i cant speak for everyone but rich's work is stellar.

I got my first and only tattoo here.  I was being extremely cautious about getting a tattoo originally....I'm not one of those people who gets ink just for the hell of getting ink.  I spent about 6 months thinking about how I wanted my lotus flower tattoo to look and where I wanted it to be.

When it came to choosing a shop, I was even more cautious.  I looked around at maybe 7 or 8 shops around the EV, and I finally decided on Thicker Than Water for several reasons.

One, they do not do piercing in the shop, which led me to believe that they really specialize in the art of tattooing only and have high standards.

Two, the inside was extremely clean, professional, and roomy looking.

Three, when I consulted with one of the artists about what I wanted, I showed him a sketch of what I wanted the lotus flower to look like.  He asked if he could play with it a bit, and he did....and I was sold!  He made it even more unique and feminine than I had originally imagined.  So I decided right then and there to get the tattoo, and I do not regret it at all.  I get so many compliments on the tattoo all the time.

This place definitely embodies professionalism, and I can tell that they only hire very talented and experienced artists.

Not sure what's up with all the bad reviews after seeing all the artist's work at the shop. The place is cool, the people are nice, and it's definitely a better environment than the tattoo shops I've been in on Long Island. I got tattooed by Tron, who is really really awesome, and came out with an amazing tattoo at a great price.

From the very first time I ever entered the shop, until this day- I have never not felt welcome here. I live in a few block radius of this place and my visits slowly became more frequent as I began getting tattooed here and friendships grew. Soon enough I was bringing them pastries and battling them in Tetris Attack.

From working in shops for almost a year and having been getting tattooed for just about ten years now- it's not hard to instantly notice that this place is always kept super clean with much thanks to their shopboy Antonio. Everyone always uses clean sterile tools and are on top of all of their cross contamination prevention and bloodborne pathogen standards. I've watched them interact with other clients and potential clients and they are always curtious and helpful. Everyone knows what they are doing here, they're always learning new tricks from each other and staying on top of their social networking game.

Now, I've been tattooed here a few times and my most recent experience was an incredible set of flowers and a wishbone on the side of my scalp done by Mike Moses. I went in with an undercut just the side of a business card and I let him take it into his hands and he basically gave me a new haircut with the tattoo. I'm not going to lie, I was super anxious about getting this tattoo. However, Mike made sure I was comfortable and even provided me with an ear plug to soften the buzzing by my ear. He checked in with my from time to time to see how I was doing, made me laugh and overall- gave me one of the best tattoos and experiences ever.

I've sent many friends and even random people here who have gotten work done by everyone at this shop and have always had rave reviews about my recommendation and how awesome everyone is here. Seriously, All of the guys here are amazing artists and tattooers, and they've recently added a lady in the shop- Lian Tongey (or Tron) and the family is only going to grow again in a month.

If you don't know you better ask somebody!

I came to visit the NYC for a show and wanted to get tattooed during my stay. In my opinion most tattoo shops are dirty, and most of them offer body piercing, yuk. The search was on for a clean uptown parlor.

I found Thicker Than Water which was located in the Manhattan area to be the cleanest looking, so I decided to go there. Upon my visit I noticed that this place had mad swag! Hardwood floors, brick walls and dope art and music to add to its flavor. I was greeted by the friendly owner Nate.  He asked the usual questions and was honest and transparent. His price was good so I got tattooed by one of his artist made for the job.

Plain and simple its a dope shop, I love to tell people about my tattoo and where I got it.

I recommend you stop reading this and have a look!

I must say.. Thicker Than Water is def the place to get great artwork done by friendly, clean, professional artists.

Guy is the guy for me. I'v been looking for someone to start my arm for 16 years. Then I found him and have been very pleased with his fine tattoo work and what we have been collaborating on.

I'm a model,  so it's important that my Tats be right.
Very excited about my next one..stay tuned.. :D

I don't recommend Guy Ursitti, the artist who did my tattoo.

The shading in my tattoo was botched up and not a gradual shade.

After it healed, I asked him to fix it and he agreed to but wanted to charge me extra.   In most other places, there is no charge to touch up.

I had another tattooist fix the tattoo Guy did, and I was told Guy's tattoo was "heavy-handed", which means that he put the needle too deeply in my skin.   A tattoo too deep can scar and become raised.  Also over time the lines will run.

Positive is that the place is very clean.

I have yet to be tattooed in this shop, but have met all or most of the staff and have been getting inked by Guy Ursitti for years now. The shop is one of the cleanest I've been to in NYC and plenty roomy. The stations are spaced so that your not on top of other customers. Shop is decorated with the usual tattoo garb but one thing that stuck out to me were the collection of old skateboard decks. Nice touch. Its a tattoo shop, not a lounge, not a hipster hangout, not a pretentious art gallery. Any second guessing or fears you would have will be left as soon as you enter. The artists and staff are one of the tightest groups I've seen in a shop in sometime.

Guy has been tattooing since 1991 if I'm not mistaken. He's an amazing artist and it has transferred perfectly to his tattoo work. To get tattooed by Guy reminds me of going to the old Italian barber my pops use to take me as a kid. He'll crack jokes, talk politics, philosophy and/or tell you to go F yourself if need be. Before you know it, your tattooed with a masterpiece and leaving with a smile.

Um, I went here late night only because Inkstop was closed and I just wanted something small on the inside of my wrist (red lips), so I thought whatevs. The outline is weird and crooked, like a four year old drew it on with a shaky hand, and the color is uneven, like some parts are a faded red, while others are bright. It just looks sloppy. From far away, it looks like I slashed my wrists. Also, it's been a month and it's not healed quite right.

This is what I get for being impulsive and impatient.

I went into Thicker Than Water with a smile on my face and left in Tears. Shon Lindauer , my artist rushed me, and made me feel like I had no opportunity to change placement or make suggestions to get the outcome I wanted. This guy has an attitude problem.

It goes without saying that I DO NOT recommend this shop or working with Shon. He is the exact type of guy who you do NOT want permanently marking your body.

I got a lot of crap from my friends for getting a tattoo on special, but I am so glad I stopped by this shop in July when they were doing their $50 tattoo special. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of designs they had to choose from, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Guy was my tattoo artist and he was quick, professional, and obviously an expert with the needle. He answered all my questions and would be great for beginners & tattoo enthusiasts alike.  The shop has a great vibe and you will leave with a badass tattoo and an awesome experience.

Got a fabulous deal during a $50 special, and am so happy!  This is my second tattoo, and it's hot!  I love it, other people love it and I couldn't be happier!!!  I'm hooked, and look forward to collaborating on other one's with them in the future.  Guy was great at envisioning an even better tattoo, shading and position.  Thanks so much and see you soon!!!

After posting an email received by the manager, I will retract it because it's very inappropriate in nature and has become a personal issue. My prior review still stands.

great shop, owned and operated by some really cool, professional guys. the artists are talented and the space is clean with a really chill, family vibe...which is key in my book. shon, mark and john can do just about anything with a wide range of styles and nate keeps everything in line!
i took advantage of the valentine's day special with my $14 tattoo and i love it!  stop in any day and check out the $40 tattoo deals when you have the itch to get something done!
