My husband & I walked into Mom's while on vacation from DFW just wanting to inquire about tattoos that we were interested in getting.  We were told that Debbie was just finishing with a client and that she could get started with us shortly. 30 minutes later I was sitting in a chair watching her prep! Debbie was great. She has a good sense of humor and makes you feel comfortable right away. Our tattoos were fairly simple and small, but I was still impressed with her quickness. We love our tattoos! She also gave us an EXTREMELY fair price. She mentioned that she's been tattooing for 35 years, so if you want experience, this is the place to go!

Great service and very friendly. I went in to get a cover-up tattoo filled in that I had outlined at another shop. The service difference was like night and day.

They took me in last minute as a walk in and were very accommodating. They also completed the work in 1.5 hours under the time they quoted me, which was a pleasant surprise. Garrett did the work and kept up a great conversation the whole time. After the tattoo, "Mom" took the time to talk to me about tattoo care, and they even gave me a kit with salve and soap to bring home.

I highly suggest this place, great skills, knowledgeable and friendly.

Went here with a group during vacation because we all wanted tattoos - we made appointments and paid a 20 dollar deposit beforehand.
This was my first tattoo, and I honestly could not be happier - Blake did an amazing job taking the idea in my head and turning it into a tattoo - it looks better than what I had originally thought of, along with being very friendly and talking through the tattoo so that I didn't focus on the pain (though I'll admit it didn't hurt nearly as much as I thought it would).
Everyone was very friendly and accommodating, and we were all really happy with our tattoos.

Seriously, I can't stress how in love I am with my tattoo.

If I get a tattoo anywhere else I'll be using this experience as the benchmark.

Went here with my partner and a good friend. We all three got tattoos and the staff even stayed late to do my girlfriend's since hers was more detailed and a cover-up. Blake did mine, he was super sweet and very talented. Mom was a doll, too. Will definitely be going back for more pieces. Very reasonably priced, too! :)

I've had a couple larger pieces done here by Deb, and by far they are my favorite personal tattoos and ones that garner the most compliments. One was flash that she altered a bit on the spot, the other was a custom piece.

All in all, I was very pleased with both the price and the outcome -- the ink set in really well, and I didn't need to come back for touch-ups. A couple years later and the colors and details are still vibrant. I've sent a couple friends to have work done with Deb, and they've been pleased as well.

I'll also say that of all the art I've had inked, Deb has had the softest hands, and it's always been a pleasure sitting for her. She also takes cleanliness and safety seriously, and she has a no-nonsense attitude that I love.

I got my first tat here, it was too expensive for what I got, I think when she found out it was my first tat she took advantage of it. I will not go back for the 2 other tats I am getting

Hands down the best tattoo place that I've ever been to. Some of my coworkers decided that we wanted to go get tattoos after work the other day and one of the girls recommended that we go to Mom's and I'm so glad that she did. Everyone there was super nice, exactly the kind of people you would imagine working at a place called "Mom's Tattoos". The guy who did my tattoo was Bradley and I HIGHLY recommend him. He seemed genuinely impressed by the fact that I can sit through a rib tattoo without pain. My coworkers had other people do their tattoos, but they were highly satisfied with the girls as well as their tattoos. I will definitely be coming back here in the future for more tattoos.

Got my second tattoo with Candice and have recommended her to several friends to go to Mom's. Debi/Mom is a sweetheart and the staff there are friendly, I would recommend booking an appointment though. It's clean, their work is amazing. I'll be going again for my third one sometime this year to complete my back tattoo. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Blake does all my tattoos- he's super creative- I tend to be a bit obsessive so I bring him a collection of a million different pics and somehow he sorts through the madness and gives me exactly what I want. On top of all that- believe it or not, his tattoos seem to hurt less than others- go figure:)

Go see him- I promise you too shall have your sox rocked.

My first tattoo was some small blue flowers on my ankle, done by a great artist who has since moved to California. I wanted to add to it, so I looked at books and visited shops to find the artist I wanted. I visited one local lady who is acclaimed for her work, but got a negative vibe from her. Wasn't right.

Driving home, I saw Mom's yellow shop and stopped by. I immediately liked her. She sat me down in the chair and drew the  EXACT design I had in my head on my leg. I was blown away. Great, when can I get it done? She says "my 6 o'clock cancelled, how about then?" Best decision ever. It is a beautiful floral piece. I actually cried when I saw its beauty. I look at my leg every day and love what I see.

I have since had the other leg done to match. That design is very personal because Mom took my idea, which is my own handwriting, and made it work.

I'm not a wimp but top of the ankle does hurt. She talks you thru the rough spots.  She's funny and laid back. She's a cool lady. She is meticulous with sanitation. She gives you a care kit with some awesome balm. I constantly get compliments on her work. Love it.

"Mom" is amazing and sweet. However, the tattoo artist that I got Eric, I believe, doesn't know what he's doing. First of all while tattooing me says casually "Don't you love it when it's so drowned in ink and blood but you guess right and are dead on?" second off, I'm getting bits and pieces of my tattoo removed because they ARENT dead on. Jesus Christ. Never again will I go there, simply because of him. Sucks because like I said, the owner is super sweet.

I've been wanting to get a tattoo for as long as I can remember, but I just couldn't decide what I wanted.  I wanted to be dead sure that whatever I chose I was going to like for the rest of my life.  Six months ago I finally found my tattoo and decided to have it done for my 30th birthday.  Two of my best friends were going to get tattoos as well and had already been through the process once, so I left it up to them to find a place that was good.  We ended up coming to Mom's because none of the other places we called returned our messages or called us back.

I had lots of jitters about it being my first tattoo, but Debi and the rest of the crew were very supportive even to the extent of redrawing my design to accomodate the size I wanted.  My artist was Becca and she was amazing throughout the whole process.   I'm not going to say that it wasn't painful but she did her best to do a little bit in a painful spot and then go to another spot that wasn't so painful to give my nerves a break.  The other tattoo artists were awesome and helped to keep my mind off the pain by talking with me and my friends, who were also getting tattooed.  It was an amazing experience and the piece is absolutely gorgeous.  I don't think I will be getting another piece any time soon, but if I ever do decide on another piece I will have it done at Mom's!  Thanks guys!  YOU ROCK!

I just relocated to Austin from Michigan for an internship and started to miss home a little bit. This re-sparked my interest in getting a tribute to the mitten tattoo so this morning I started the search for a parlor to have my work done at. After reading other great reviews for other shops, I came across Mom's and was instantly drawn to the laid back atmosphere, casual website, and talented sample work from the artists I saw. I didn't call or make an appointment, and just hopped in the car and hoped for the best. Even with some construction work nearby, the place was incredibly easy to find and although initially I thought the parking was going to be a nightmare, there ended up being plenty of spots in an unpaved lot behind the shop. I knew I was in the right place based on the look of the place, which was a really awesome little stand alone building with a sweet paint job, and things only went uphill from there once I went inside.

I was greeted by Skylar who immediately greeted me and helped me find a solid picture for the piece I wanted on the shop computer. From there, Blake took over and started drawing up the design. Also, talk about face value on small business ownership, because the titular 'Mom' was in the shop as well as her husband who took the time to strike up a conversation with a shy out of state guy (yours truly). This really helped me feel comfortable while I waited. When Blake finished drawing it up, I was expecting to have to set an appointment for another day or something, but nope, he was able to get me from start to finish right then and there.

The tattoo room was very intimate and in close proximity to the other artist (Candice) and some of her customers which I saw as a bonus. Blake and Candice were both totally laid back and great at conversation which made my time in the chair all the more enjoyable. Blake even apologized for coming off as gruff at first which I totally didn't read at all, which just added to my perception of the shop's commitment to customer satisfaction.

My piece (A Vernor's Ginger Ale Leprechaun) came out astounding in full color with some added shading for depth at Blake's suggestion. Blake even asked if he could take a picture of it to add to his portfolio which was totally cool. I couldn't be happier with the outcome and was incredibly impressed with my experience at Mom's. As the icing on the cake, coming from MI I was totally expecting to drop a lot more than what I did, but was definitely pleasantly surprised at the bottom line.

My itch for getting sweet ink renewed, I'm already on the lookout for what I'll be getting next, but one thing's for sure, I will be getting it at Mom's.

I've gotten tattoos from some so-so places and some outstanding ones (like Oliver Peck's Elm St. shop in Dallas). Mom's Tattoos is one of the outstanding ones. The artists here are VERY detail-oriented, which is great considering you're getting art put on you for LIFE. When I went in to have some script done in honor of one of my children, Debi (Mom) seemed to have spent more time lining the art up and making sure it was just right than she did on the actual tattoo (since it was a simple one-color signature). Even when it seemed like it was right, she wanted it to be PERFECT and it was.

The staff here is the friendliest I've encountered which is great for newbies who may be intimidated about going into a tattoo shop. They are also hella talented. I did a lot of research and looked through a lot of books before coming to Mom's. Looking at the girl getting inked in the chair next to me reaffirmed my realization that these artists are top-knotch.

Friendly, clean and great for newbies. I'll be back. Thanks Mom!

Just an amazing shop with amazing artists with amazing talent. The customer service goes above and beyond. Debbie was welcoming from the second I walked in and I can see us forming a great relationship. I brought in a rough sketch of what I wanted and my tat artist, Blake, drew it up in a day. He changed the font and added some extremely cool details. Blake is the MAN. He came in on his day off because I really wanted to get the tattoo done on the day of my brother's death since it was a tribute to him. Blake is unbelievably cool and talented. It only took about an hour and a half and he made me feel comfortable the entire time. The finished product is perfect and I couldn't be happier. If you want a new tattoo go to Mom's and ask for Blake.

I have gotten three tattoos at moms in a year, and the first two times I went (once in March 2010 and again in July, they were awesome. The guys there were really nice and helpful and seemed really interested to be doing things exactly how I wanted. but the last time I went there during fall 2010, it seemed the people that worked there before had been either fired or quit. I went in and there were only two people there, Mom and a guy named Monk. he was the guy who 'helped' me and he was rude right off the bat. He didn't seem interested in what I wanted to get done and it seemed as if he put very little effort into it. I was a little happy with the finished product at first, but now after having it awhile, I'm thinking of getting it covered up. If all that weren't enough, when I was paying for the tattoo, and was still going to give him a nice tip, he said he didn't have change for my bill so I ended up having to give him 40% tip. Mom was not friendly either. Same exact experience for my friend who was there that same day.  I recomend any other tattoo shop on lamar.

I have been here a couple of times and love it. I was originally gonna get a tat as a drunk bet. I decided on a four leaf clover on my ass that said "Lucky" over the top. I gave David the idea and he spent a week coming up with his own design. I loved it! I had plenty of good conversation while I was getting it. No real pain at  all. When it was done it was exactly the same as his drawing. Amazing artist that he is.

Tat 2. I decided I liked the first one soo much I wanted a abstract sun on my hip that would peek out of the top of my swim suit. Same story on this one...although there was a little pain since it was right on my hip bone.

Tat 3. I dunno yet but I will go back there and recommend to anybody wanting to get a tatoo.

BTW. It is best to make an appointment and arrive on time. He will not double book or take walk ins when you have your time set.

    Thanks DAVID!

Although I have quite a few tattoos from different shops around town I had never really heard much one way or the other about Mom's until my friend Theo went to work there. I went in for the first time this past summer to get a piece on my foot from Theo.

I was immediately impressed by the cleanliness of the shop, as well as the friendliness of the staff. Theo wasn't at work yet when I arrived & the artists who were there were very nice & accommodating while I waited. I've since been back in several times for more work & have gotten to know the staff, all of whom are great people.

In recent months I contracted with Debi to revamp the shop's website & I have to say that she's one of the most personable, friendly people I've had the pleasure to work with. I would definitely recommend Mom's & any of the artists there, ESPECIALLY if you're going in for your first tattoo. You won't find a more laid back, yet professional setting to help put you at ease.

Went back in on Dec 31st to add some roses to piece on my leg. The entire time I was there the shop was filled with pleasant chatter, joking, & laughter. It's like sitting around with your friends at home. Definitely a fun way to get inked.

I was recommended to Mom's by a MMA fighter out of Austin, TX.  she did a beautiful massive shoulder/back piece on him.

Debi gave me an awesome Haidi triabl wolf and moon tattoo on my bicep and integrated the moon around another raven piece already there.

She was skilled, had a light touch, patient,a nd very friendly.  Really nice shop - lots of smiles and laughter.

My wife just loves my wolf tattoo and so do I.

If you're in Austin and want a great tattoo, Mom's no doubt.  I'll return there when in town.

Two years after I came here for a tattoo, I  was back for another. My grandfather passed away last month so I came here to get a sizeable memorial piece for him done on my back.

In my mind, I knew what I wanted, but I wasn't exactly the world's best sketch artist. I solicited a girl from Etsy to draw my ideas out, but after several unsuccessful attempts, I paid her 1/2 for the work she had done and decided to make an appointment for Friday after work with the sketches she had done, and lots of print outs of what  wanted.

I met with Theo who was able to take my ideas and worked it with the girl's sketch to come up with one cohesive design. He made it work! We talked about the size, time and price before proceeding, but first I had to head home during rush hour to take care of my dogs before sitting down for the 3 hour process.

When I returned, I was instantly greeted by Debi (she also greeted me the first time I came in that day). Some of the reviews of other tattoo places mention being ignored, but that is definitely not the case here! I would be intimidated by entering any tattoo shop alone, but I was immediately put at ease.

When it came time for business, I was in a rather awkward position for the 3 hour process (I sat on a stool with my feet on a chair and leaned over while trying to read) so every 30-60 minutes, I would need a break so I could regain the feeling in my legs and stretch out my neck. Theo was very accomodating and if I needed a break earlier, all I had to do was let him know.

The whole process went by pretty quick! I brought a book to read, though sometimes it was hard to concentrate during the outline. Some areas hurt more than others, but everyone was very encouraging. During the coloring, I was able to concentrate more on the book. Theo would give updates on what he was doing and let me check it out in the mirror as things were coming along.

Finally, when we were done, I was able to see the final product and I was SO happy! It's been 3 days since the tattoo and I've encountered minimal scabbing. While this will probably be my last tattoo (no more pain, please), but if I were to ever get another, I would definitely return. Highly recommended for anyone looking to get some ink done!

Mom's is probably the greatest tattoo shop I've ever been in. After stopping in at Southside and Resurrection (the two best rated parlors in Austin according to Yelp), I was blown away by the relative cleanliness and the quality customer service of Mom's.

Mom is the sweetest lady and thoroughly cares about the customer making the best decision for themselves--not just about making a quick buck.  Even though I ended up holding off on the tattoo I'd designed for my inside wrist, I didn't feel judged for not being able to decide on the right look. If and when I end up getting a tattoo in Austin, it will be at Mom's.  Highly recommended.

I got my first tattoo 3 weeks ago from Mom's Tattoo.  I spoke with a guy by the name of Brian about doing a tribal tattoo.  He showed me some of his previous work and also sketched out some tribal symbols so that I could see an clear example of how sharp his points were.  I was thoroughly impressed since sharp points is the difference between a good and bad tribal tattoo.

I then agreed to have Brian do my tribal tattoo on my back.  The process took about an hour and 45 minutes.  He's a very nice guy and makes you feel comfortable.  In fact, all of the staff there was nice. They thoroughly explained how to care for my tattoo after the procedure. I've received a ton of compliments on my tat and highly recommend this place.

My husband and I got our "love tattoos" on Valentine's Day. It was my first.  I let him go first. I was able to sit nearby and see everything. Mom was very thorough in explaining the process and aftercare. We had gotten 3 recommendations from friends and coworkers. Although I'm good with just the one, my husband is already planning to go back. The place was busy the entire time we were there. Although they take walk-ins, do yourself a favor and make an appointment.
