The shop is clean and warm and friendly, very inviting, and Zach was just amazing. I'll be getting all future tattoos from him, without a second's doubt. I had a rough idea of what I wanted, and a photo of the general style, and he drew something that was even more beautiful than I dreamed. He was gentle and concerned for my comfort, and such a nice person to talk to for three hours. On top of his true skill and talent as an artist, and a tattooist, he's just such a decent, nice guy. When he finished, I was blown away -- the tattoo exceeded my dreams, and I just could not be happier.
No scabs. Excellent healing. Zero regrets about anything, just eagerness to go back to him when I'm ready for the next one.
I got my first tattoo from Paco after years of my friends being tattooed by him. Paco does a fantastic job of creating a composite out of any artwork you bring to him. I've now got 4 tattoos from Paco and I will continue to get all of my work done by him. All of his tattoos are beautiful works of art. As a side note, the shop has been very nicely remodeled and gives the overall environment inside a very professional look. Couldn't ask for more.
Review Source:Paco is THE BEST! Â He is professional, patient and very encouraging. Â He worked with us for a long time on the drawing and sizing to make sure we (I went with a friend and we both got our first tattoos together) got exactly what we wanted. Â His work is beautiful and we are both extremely pleased. Â We were both only getting very small wrist tattoos and were both a little nervous at first, but he didn't treat us differently because we were getting smaller (cheaper) work done. Â Paco's charming demeanor put us at ease, from making sure we were comfortable, to making sure the music was to our liking, to encouraging us to let him know if we needed to stop for a minute (we didn't.). The shop is also very clean and inviting and our healing is going very well (it's been 9 days.). I cannot recommend Paco and Electric 13 highly enough. Â Outstanding. Â I'm already planning tat #2 and will DEFINITELY be back to have Paco do it.
Review Source:I've gotten my last four tattoos from Zach and couldn't be happier with his work!
He was at Austin Tattoo Company until pretty recently, when he moved over to Electric 13. Â He is such a great artist, I have full confidence in sending him photos/ideas/notes on what I'm thinking and letting him take the reigns and design it from there. Â This last one turned out so much better than I could've even imagined it! Â
Even when you see the line sketch, you will have no idea how awesome it will look when he's done. Â That's because he's really incredible at using vivid hues to shade, highlight, and bring depth to the image. Â This most recent tattoo was a train wrapped around my leg, and he added purple and red beams of light in the background (which looked like a cubist sunset of sorts), a couple tiny birds, and pine tree sillhouettes. Â These details, and all the others on the train itself, are really striking. I've been getting loads of compliments on this tat!
Also, I sat for a good five hours or so to get this done. I'm not gonna lie- it was damn sore for several days afterward. Â But I've never had a tattoo heal so well! Â There was hardly a scab at all and not even much peeling. Â I'm not sure how he managed to do that... but I'm a fan!!
So usually the morning after getting a tattoo I have that split second where I see it in the mirror and think "what the hell did I do?!" Don't get me wrong, I love my tattoos, but something about their permanency catches up with you after the rush has worn off.
This morning when I saw the ART that Paco gifted me with I was still 100% in love with it. I've never been so happy with a tattoo in my life.
Electric 13 is a beautiful shop on Guadalupe at the beginning of the drag near campus. You can tell that their attention to detail isn't just given to their work by the care they've taken with making their environment so inviting and warm.
Paco is my new favorite person (sorry mom!). He has the lightest hand I've ever been tattooed by...ever. You know that first moment when they say "here we go" and the needle touches down? Yeah, that happened and I didn't even grit my teeth. He's magic with a needle which I can already tell is going to be bad for my wallet because the only thing keeping me from being covered in tattoos is the pain, and now that doesn't seem like such a big deal because of Paco.
Through the entire process Paco was amazing. He was attentive and made sure to give me his undivided attention when I came in to talk to him about my ideas. How he was able to come up with something that I didn't even know I wanted is unbelievable. I had sent lots of pictures of things I liked and tried my best to communicate my likes and dislikes and what I wanted the end result to be, but I never expected him to pinpoint it so exactly. I have a tendency to say "i like feminine tattoos" and then show him a picture of something that doesn't at all seem feminine so it's kind of a miracle (or just a testament to him being awesome) that he was able to read my mind.
So far we've just got the beautiful lines, and I've got another appointment to do the shading. At this point, I'm not sure I could love it more than I already do.
I will be telling everyone I know to go to Paco. One of my friends put a deposit down and set an appointment immediately after he finished my tattoo. He's just that good.
I got a tattoo from Mig today and am so pleased!! The shop was clean and the artist was extremely nice and friendly! Mig was a very honest and down to earth guy and I felt like I was in good hands. The tattoo he did was on my foot and he helped me to size and position it in a place that it would stay looking good for years to come rather than allowing me to make an uninformed decision; I was very thankful for his expertise. I plan to get any future tattoos by Mig and will refer everyone I know to Electric 13!
Review Source:I love this place. Â I've gotten 2 tattoos and a nose piercing here, and I will definitely go back for anything else I plan to have done.
TC did my most recent tattoo. Â I called on a Wednesday morning on a whim since I was in the area. Â He called me back minutes later and asked what I wanted to have done, if there would be any color, etc etc. Â He was very nice and told me that he'd make time to do this since I was only around for a few more hours.
He persuaded me to get the tat filled in (instead of just the outline, which I was originally thinking) and I'm sooo glad he did! Â All of his suggestions were helpful and much appreciated. Â Not only was he super sweet and very funny, but he also did a fabulous job on my tattoo. Â
The guys here make you feel welcome and comfortable, which I can't say for other tattoo joints I've been in. I'll definitely be back for any work I plan on getting in the future!
I went into Electric 13 on a Tuesday evening, which was nice because it was pretty empty. Â I was promptly greeted, and we immediately started talking about what I was wanting for my design. I wanted script on my wrist but they were honest enough to tell me that over time it would blend together and they wouldn't do it. Â I greatly appreciate that because I think a lot of parlors would have just done it and taken my money without informing me. Â They talked me through where my design would work best and gave me some great information about color. Mig did incredible work and I would recommend him to anyone looking at getting a tattoo (especially their first).
The atmosphere was chill, comfortable and very clean. Â All employees, especially Mig, were friendly, informative, humorous and talented! I highly recommend Electric 13 and will be back very soon!
I got my first piece from Electric 13 after visiting a few shops near the University and on Sixth, including Diablo Rojo, True Blue, and Atomic.
The atmosphere is very cool; there are only a few full-time tattooers and the place is a little on the small side, but it smells nice, is very clean, and the employees are all really friendly and have a great rapport. Electric 13's a colorful place, and it's one of my favorite businesses in ATX.
Mig was my tattooer, but I would trust Paco or anyone else at Electric 13 with my skin. Mig is an awesome guy; he's enthusiastic about his work and he's a great conversationalist, to the extent that getting a piece there is relaxing, and hardly painful. Mig talked me through the process of getting inked, explained whether or not my work would transform or not with time, and told me how to care for the tattoo after finishing it without pushing any extra products. I recommend him to anyone looking for their first tat, and I'll definitely be coming back to this shop for as long as he works there.
I've been back for work twice already, and I'll try and stop by whenever I'm in Austin. They do awesome work at fair prices, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a better place so near the center of the city.
POW! Got my second tatt from Electric 13 since I live close to the UT campus. I heard alot about this place but couldn't get my first one there due to artist client schedule conflicts. But this place is great! I literally called the dude on the phone saying "i dont know what I want, i just want to get another tatt" he said "come on over we'll find something for ya". And they actually took out books and books and books of art to pull inspiration from. They are very patience and funny. I ended up gettin a tatt I always wanted of the old batman comic books fighting expressions that say "POW!" so dont get that but "BAM!" is fair game.
Enjoy!
I've been in Austin for three years and have tried out many shops. Paco at electric 13 has deffenitly given me my favorite work and it's fun to get tattooed by him. He's a nice guy, respects his clients and is true to his art. I recommend Paco wether you've been getting tattooed for years or interested in your first. Tc his apprentice is awesome as well and always calls to confirm that you are coming in. They are a great team it's my favorite shop and two of the nicest guys I've met in Austin.
Review Source:I'm so glad that Platinum Ink turned me down last night because the tattoo that I got from Paco is amazing. It's super clean and the price was a steal for the quality. The guys were very friendly and made me and my friends feel comfortable. Today is the 4th of July and Paco didn't plan on keeping the shop open, but when I called in and sent an e-mail, he let me come in to get tattooed on his day off.
If you want a great, fairly priced tattoo, definitely come by to Electric 13. If you want Paco to work on you, you probably need to call in advance and set up an appointment because from what I heard today, he's booked until September. I just got very lucky. = D
Loved this place! If I think about getting another tattoo, I am definitely coming back.
I was referred to Electric13 by a friend who has an awesome piece on his arm, done by Paco. Told me everyone was friendly and he was right. I walked in last night around 815 and Mig and another guy were working. Mig checked out our designs (mine and my husband's), told us he could fit us in in about 2 hrs if we wanted to come back, gave us some advice and ideas on the designs, even if we went to another place if we didn't want to wait. His demeanor was the reason we went back. This was my first tattoo and I didn't want to risk dealing with a jerk if I could wait a little bit and get Mig. So we went back 2 hrs later and he made the stencil and arranged and rearranged it on my arm till he and I were happy with it and got to work. He was fun to talk to and hang out with for the hour or so it took to get it done.Afterwards, he charged me a very reasonable price and then we talked even more about random stuff before we left. Very cool guy, very clean and professional place. My husband and I will definitely be going back to see Mig in the future.
Review Source:I'm absolutely amazed that no one has reviewed Electric 13, not only are they badass, but they are super nice and fairly priced. Â The shop is located above Storyville on the Drag, across from Veggie Heaven and there is a parking lot behind the shop so you don't have to go far after your skin has been inked all up. Â
I went in because I had wanted to add more to my back, by the time I left I had paid my $20 deposit to get my chest piece drawn up and was told I should be getting a call in the next couple days. Â When I went in with my original idea, Derek was really cool about telling me what would work and what wouldn't. Â When I realized my original idea was way lame, I mentioned that I was interested in getting a chest piece that was fancy scrollwork like. Â He immediately grabbed some paper and a pencil and started sketching what I wanted. Â Bangin'. Â My deposit went towards the total cost of my tattoo and he had a couple variations for me a couple days later. Â
I went in, he did the placement three times to make sure it was perfect and got to work. Â It was just black lines, but he was done in 45 minutes. Â Start to finsh. Â No shit. Â I've gotten lots of tattoos and none have been done so fast or so beautifully. Â I got to listen to Bob Marley and Paco, the dude who owns the place, stopped in while Derek was working and showed his major approval for my new piece. Â I was so nervous and it hurt like hell, but because it was done so fast, I didn't really have too much time to complain. Â And even though I was sort of a puss, Derek was very patient with me and just kept telling me to breathe. Â
The shop was spotless, the artist is amazing. Â Derek is very laid back and honest about what he can do. Â Take your idea and he'll make it happen. Â He is the fastest tattooist I've ever seen and he compromises nothing, he's just really fucking good. Â I really want to get some more tattoos soon and I know right where I'm going to go.
